>we're at the point where vatniks are boasting that Soviet systems owned, maintained and operated by Ukrainians are somehow reflective of Russian hardware
Absolutely can not fucking wait for footage to come out of an entire S-300 ground-ground attack being defeated by PAC-2 interceptors.
There was a released document about this, and basically most of the missiles weren't even near the batteries range, so they basically would never even get the chance to fire anyway due to too few patriot batteries.
This is also 30 years old.
here's what I think is happening: The Ukrainians are using the S-300 missile system, but not the radar.
I think the NATO AEW planes and drones detect and ID russian drones and aircraft and feed this data to the S-300 batteries. That way the S-300 radar isn't turning itself into a radiation target, and the AEW aircraft can look beyond the horizon of the ground based radar.
Are those Hinds? Fuck man, I hope they save a few as museum pieces because that piece of Warsaw Pact kit is one of my favorite copters in a so-ugly-it-circles-around-to-be-attractive-again kind of way
They have a distinction between Su-25's and a Su-27. Why wouldn't they differentiate the helicopters?
What's the "ace" version of a SAM operator?
I always take things like this with a grain of salt, but I think that's because I'm spoiled with how much footage is coming out of this war. Surely there's plenty of intercepts that aren't filmed & wreckage isn't found. Still crazy that Russia could realistically have lost this much kit.
thats $270 million worth of downed helicopters alone, not counting the pilots
Total cost of that kit (assuming those are all Kh-101's) is about. $700m Nearly 3/4 of a billion dollars .
There's a plane, and I am flying
There's a mountain waiting for me
Oh, these years have been so trying
I don't know if I can use them
Am I strong enough
To be the one?
Will I live to have some children?
Help me get down
I can make it
Help me get down

Help me get down
Help me get down
I can make it
Help me get down
If I only knew the answer
And if all our days are numbered
Then why do I keep counting?
>What's the "ace" version of a SAM operator?
That's actually a good question. Same with other defensive systems operators. Abu TOW, for instance, has over 100 confirmed kills. He'd be an ace of aces by the old metric.
pic is of sam battery command posts so the kills are from multiple launchers combined. and you gotta be braindead to think anything russian is better than anything western.
That is an interesting question, I don't believe we've ever codified such a thing for AA operators since those are typically crew operated systems compared to the one guy operating the plane. It'd feel weird to credit the loader with a kill but at the same time be somewhat shitty to say only one guy shot all those birds down. For me though, 20 sounds like a fair number
Daily reminder that the S-300 has a superior combat record to the Patriot (which has ZERO interceptions).

I'm waiting for footage of the Patriot system working correctly, just once in the whole lifecycle of this scam.
You know saying it doesn't make it true, right?
Technically, they are indicative of what said systems would do in the hands of competent operators.
Daily reminder that Desert Storm is ancient history and Patriot then and now are very different missile systems you idiot moron.
It's also known that the Israelis were trying to sell their own missile systems.
It's no secret that Soviets were generally better at designing medium and long range SAMs compared to NATO, for various reasons. This isn't a gotcha
It's because they realised their planes were so shit they went all in on Anti-Air, wasn't it?
Yeah especially in civilian aircraft.
Maybe the USA should have bought some s-300s to prevent 9/11 then
>to prevent 9/11
Anon I...
Bush did 9/11
You can tell the morons have found the thread.
>can’t shoot down a single F-16 with zero countermeasures with six shots
Yeah okay retard
Surely that F-16 had countermeasures? The 184 or 131 ECM Pod? Or was it just 119 ECMs back then?

looks like ka-52 to me
They never made that many. OP got found out
probably mostly hinds and 1-2 52s
I think it's just a stencil to represent helicopter, I doubt they use a different one for the different types they kill

Wait, what happens if he shoots down another helicopter? Doesn't that fuck up the order of his kill count? Does he have to respray the whole thing?
this is PrepHole, you are not supposed to ask questions

The question is were those shahed drones really worth a sam?
Sure, when you're not picking up the tab
No, but it's still less expensive then letting them smack into a power station, hence the whole push for a cost effective way to kill them.
