Sadly, probably a ton of drones there too.

Probably far more even, keeping humans alive up there is a frickton of work.

Wouldn't they be less common due to dealt v constraints?

it takes a lot more delta v to move a weapon system with a life support system attached compared to the weapon system with a couple more sticks of ram

With conventional engines? Kinda like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp4wQ8nweeo
Months of orbital adjustments for a 10 sec flyby. Would probably include almost exclusively drones because there isn't much of a reason to have humans to decide in space when they can decide far far away.
Also, it's necessary to ask why would there be space battles? I assume it would be to control another planet and allow planetary landings. I would not expect "control of space" as in some type of occupation necessary besides helping with planetary landings or defending against them.

Space fairing civilizations would be far more enlightened than us and so they would favor futuretech psychological warfare like materializing dildos inside their enemies asses from light years away or creating a swarm of self replicating nanobots that go to their enemies' home world and disassembling every structure before reassembling them as a mirror image of their original selves in a millisecond. It's not that they eschew violence out of moral objections, killing your enemy is pointless when he is constantly having his consciousness backed up and his body will just be instantly reprinted again and synced up with his memories on death.

You can't hide your fleet, everyone can see you coming, same with your missile launches, and you're both traveling in different directions at incredible speeds relative to one another. Long range attacks would need to overwhelm prepared defenses that have a good lead time to intercept or maneuver away from. Close up fights would need coordination from boths sides to happen and would probably be an exchange of missiles and significantly sized kinetic weapons followed by both sides using lasers to burn incoming threats down. If both sides survive the initial exchange then a round of lasers trying to target each other, with the side in the worst shape trying to flee or surrender before they get massacred. The fuel cost of maneuvering and the complications of plotting a course would mean fights happening either in orbits around planets, or in superfast exchanges as two fleets transitioning between planets pass each other. Probably warfare would be a matter of who could manufacture the biggest fleet and overwhelm the other first in a sudden attack, or would require some kind of arranged dueling between agreed parties like Robot Jox buy in space. In a militarized space setting I think you'd either have one dominant super power who won't allow anyone else to create space weapons, or a manufacturing race to establish space dominance involving using relatively conventional means to target manufacture and launch sites until one party gains unbeatable momentum, or an established colonial setting where warfare is governed by rules that keep it ritualistic to minimize the mutual threat to everyone, like popping eachothers colonies like balloons would be so easy that nobody would risk having their homes destroyed in retaliation so they abide by the rules of "safe" warfare in a MAD paradigm.

being a giga autismo (this is PrepHole so not sure if that needs pointing out) i have thought about it. Dunno about ship vs ship but ive thought about fighting inside of ships or stations or settlements.
Firstly I assume we dont have energy weapons and are still using ballistic weapons and i dont see those really changing much. I think you'd see pistols, shotguns and subguns along with PCC's being dominant. Reason being again i am assuming you dont want to use high powered or high velocity rounds for fear of hull breaches and the subsequent violent decompression. So I'd see things like say Kel Tec PMR/CMR's, Shotguns of all kinds, pistols but no 5.7's or anything that could pierce. Small and handy, not even sure you'd want to use 9mm, kinda depends so i could see things like browning black label 380s or beretta 32's. Subguns naturally, short ones more so, again no high velocity, probably all soft ammo, maybe FMJ's but that might be risky depending. PCCs like EVO 3s could be stand ins for assault rifles or thos 9mm Cugir AKs. Also I presume we are looking at very tight CQB fights and boarding actions. I am making a lot of presumptions here but hey its fun to specualte.

it's gonna be all drone carriers and lasers, i don't see the point of having literally anything else. the ships will probably be unmanned/have very little crews as well.
so no 6 miles long superbattlecruiser dreadnoughts with 6 millions onboard crews, sorry

Lasers are overrated. You end up needing so much power generation and cooling that a similar sized missile boat can just spam you to oblivion.

        >You end up needing so much power generation and
Yes, good thing theres no cloud/atmosphere barrier in space so we have unobstructed access to infinite power in the form of the fricking sun

Probably a swarm of drones. Human pilots are too much bother and by the time there is warfare in space, advanced AI will be commonplace everywhere.

It might sound like a cliche, but it would be somewhat like naval warfare with various sizes of ships, destroyers destroying torpedo boats, cruisers destroying destroyers, battleships destroying cruisers, et cetera..

It would probably revolve around reconnaissance. Once an enemy is detected it can be destroyed very easily. Some drones emit a radar signal in a direction before turning it off and vacating quickly while others try to get close enough to detect the enemy, which of course will be using stealth technology. Once detected, missiles will be launched and fighter drones will get even closer to use their weapons.

It will partly revolve around economics. Missiles and drones will be destroyed constantly, the goal will be to destroy motherships and expensive larger craft using smaller cheaper missiles and drones, until eventually your drone swarm is close enough to the enemy planet to deliver weapons of mass destruction.

In addition to different sizes of drones, there will be drones with different ranges. Outflanking the enemy offers an advantage, however it comes at greater expense.
