This is moronic. What is with asiatics and separate branches. Rocket forces, cyber forces, the pla has a separate branch for fricking logistics!
The best thing about these drones is that they’re ORGANIC and can be fit at the fricking platoon or even squad level!
do you think you need separate branches for that? The army manages to train people in precision fires, as do the other 2 big branches. they don't put almost all their fires in a single branch. it works much better.
branches are for domains above all else. there's some value in things like a branch for cyberwar but I think that can be kept among your glowy departments but that depends on your government structure.
an entire branch just for fricking drones is dumb as frick. a department just for their development or a school for specialist training makes sense. but Ukraine has a fractious enough armed forces as is
>they don't put almost all their fires in a single branch. it works much better.
much better than the stupid Rocket Forces crap china and co do, I mean to say

morons you want specialized branches to provide maximum efficiency for the specific things
no you don't. should we have an artillery branch? a surface launched missile branch? maybe separate the mechanised from the motorised from the light from the airborne infantry divisions into their own branches. all with separate chains of command. oh and there should be a seperate branch for logistics and for those who wipe back to front and another for those who wipe front to back
you don't need a seperate branch and this seperate officer corp, command structure, logistical support and enlistment stream for fricking drones. what you need is a school dedicated to specialist training and a department devoted to drone procurement. interoperability is not a trivial matter and organic support is fricking vital.
also, the sorts of drones used by the airforce vs the army are extremely different.
>also, the sorts of drones used by the airforce vs the army are extremely different.
Sounds like it'd be good to have a branch to coordinate between those and centralize that knowledge so it can be applied evenly and put those lessons together

nah I'm the same anon, but I decided I did want to give you a chance to articulate an actual argument for it. you probably just think it's a good idea because heckin Ukraine is doing it, even though it's a sovietism.

You show up, call anyone who contradicts your bias moronic without addressing anything, then whine about no points being brought up. This after b***hing about this in two separate threads. This tells me you're not worth trying to convince of anything, so I'll just continue to watch you seethe.

It's not a separate 'branch' like Army vs Air Force. The Ukrainian wording is a little tricky, but it's more of a new MOS group. Like infantry vs artillery vs armor etc.. Not an entire new branch. Just a new MOS within a branch.
Canada
Mass embezzlement by Laurentian elites and their buddies, tons of consultants, tons of office jobs not doing much of anything, and ultimately no actual drones or robots made or used.
That was how Canada worked back in the 00s, lots of corruption and eventually some shitty version of whatever we wanted that isn't as good and costs more to maintain.
These days we don't even get the crappy hand-me-downs, it's just constant naked embezzlement of public funds with zero consequences. Trudeau & company realized that there are actually no legal consequences for anything they do and they can just loot the country with impunity.
Drones is pretty diverse. You have company/squad organic drones. You have artillery spotter drones. And your strategic or deep strike drones. with switchblade or the modified DJI you have both a recon asset and a weapon that can bomb with a light mortar warhead.
You want to use drones as much as possible as they're much cheaper than a soldier's life. A grenade or mortar round costs $75 or less. The drone itself is maybe a few thousand dollars. A soldier carries a $1k rifle and wears $5k in body armor. Don't forget their salary, training costs and life insurance.
Like an episode of battlebots from the late 90s but with nazi uniforms

IMO, I don't see it any different than the Army having attached Air Force personnel for fires control.
because people need training you fricking moron

I hope the Ukranian OC drones are named after Olga, the queen that did a drone-like attack on an enemy city all the way in Medieval times.
you mean the psycho b***h who torched a surrendered town?
it was funny, dont lie
don't get me wrong, I would
look at those crazy eyes, you know she can suck&swallow like no other

we'd get them eventually, they'd just be third hand from Lichtenstein or something a decade after they were relevant.

from the moment i understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me...
the Ukrainians are becoming experts at small drone warfare. The US should save the best before Vlad kills 'em.
Any branch other than Army and Navy is nothing but administrative bloat.
