They withdrew from the areas they had no intention of storming and that had no chance of taking with a meme siege. They relocated to the east and went good old fashioned war mode and apparently they're winning fast. ISW which is owned by wives and husbands of government officials is coping and seething

japan was more moronic than that
japan basically cultivated a culture of super fanatical nationalistic junior officers. These officers would habitually and routinely just murder everyone they saw as not being aggressive enough, and their bosses would just go along with it
so, like, if a politician said something along the lines of "we should build up our strength before attacking" some moronic captain or lieutenant would just straight up murder him, without being ordered to do so or anything
this went all the way to actual wars, the sino japanese was was caused by a colonel getting it into his head to false flag a war with china and everyone in the army just sorta went along with it

So that's the historical basis for the "young Erusean officers" trope in Ace Combat?

To be fair this strategy is playing out in Russia right now, just way later than originally planned. WW2 left them desperately short on men and they’ve never fully recovered. Now most of the women left of child-bearing age don’t want to have children in such a shithole.

Overconfidence and utter failure of Russia's command infrastructure, underestimating the west's response to a war with Ukraine, failure to figure out that the fricking Jerry fuel can is still a viable means of on-demand fuel storage, and most importantly the Russian people had no reason to attack Ukraine. A fake Ukrainian terrorist attack on the Russian populace would've had a better strategic turnout than this garbage heap.

The Russians began a missile strike opening targeting key Ukrainian infrastructure and bases.
The expectation was to cripple an adversary who wasn’t expected to put up a fight against “superior” Russian combined arms. A push to the East and South of Ukraine was to direct troops away from the capital, while a northern front was planned to decapitate government control over the nation. The initial push was fast and came within miles of Kiev. Yet another front was hoped to be established by landing elects airborne known as the VDV at an airbase near the capital. From there more supplies and soldiers can help the extended northern lines reach Kiev and kill Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy. Even if that wasn’t enough, sleeper agents and their families were already established in Kiev to assist that effort.
But all of it. ALL of this was contingent upon Russian forces getting enough supplies to maintain their gains and HOLD the terrain they steamrolled though.
Ukrainian anti-air wasn’t knocked out hard enough and did a number on Russian airborne.
Anti-tank missiles were in circulation of Ukraine and allowed separated units to perform delay and destroy tactics on Russian mobile forces.
Combine this with overextending your lines on THREE FONTS it was a difficult feat even for a superpower nation.

TLDR-Overestimating your abilities to the point of expectations of the best case scenario while underestimating the opponent and their best case scenario lead to a major blow to Russian forces in the beginning of the Invasion.

    I fricking love strategy.

The entire war was a feint to boost the economy. Just look at how strong the ruble is. Putin will be remembered forever for this transformation of the Russian economy.

Too little offensive capable army left for Russia, and its diminishing further every day. No easy way to get to Poland. A good portion of Kaliningrad forces already pulled into Ukraine.
      Russo-Polish war isnt happening anymore.

Unironically that account is considered swmi-legendary (unreliable) as it's from Plutarch.

i think at some point nato will just go in, no nukes, full on convetional warfare limited to the territory of ukraine

They have no reason to do that. Most NATO countries are depended on russia and the trade between them and russia is in the billions every month

Why risk your own troops when you can just find and equip the Ukrainians? Also a swift victory leaves Russia intact
