In general? I think everyone agrees the Eastern Front for obvious reasons.
I think South-East Asia deserves a special mention though. Not the pacific, but the brief and intense violence that the British and their allies suffered at the hands of the Japanese. I can only imagine the special depths of hell that fighting through mainland jungle could have held.
>the brief and intense violence that the British and their allies suffered at the hands of the Japanese
You should learn about the japanese experience in the burma theatre. They suffered far more and were far less prepared for the climate and conditions than the allies

The jungles of southeast asia sounds like some version of Hell with all the dangerous wildlife, disease, and climate for both sides.

What about the Philippines?
probably because its china so every war there has a million dead at minimum so its not that far out of the usual. remember this is the place of the second deadliest war in history that was started by some guy who thought he was jesus's brother and had never read a bible. 30 million dead
Chinese Japanese theater was an absolute nightmare >"that" unit >constant famine >Japanese attacking cities with biological weapons >getting shot in the back by your Communist "allies" >never getting help fighting the Japanese from your Communist "allies" >massive, total corruption and nepotism >USSR doesn't even try to hide what they're doing during and immediately after the war and you lose everything
>getting shot in the back by your Communist "allies" >never getting help fighting the Japanese from your Communist "allies"
Not a thing considering the CCP operated as guerrillas in Northern China within the Japanese occupation zone while the KMT is fighting conventionally in the South & Southwest in a stalemated frontline.
Its how the Commies ended up reviving themselves in the first place since Northern Chinese civilians thought the KMT Had abandoned them and that the Commies were the ones left fighting for them. Hence after WWII, the CCP revived its conventional army again as their guerrilla activities & political propaganda campaigns got the North solidly under them.
IMO the worst places you could be would be frontlines near Pskov and Leningrad.
First, the watery terrain - lots of swamps and rivers, lots of lakes in Karelia - meaning that all the entrenchments, dugouts and pithouses are going to be cold and prone to flooding (Nikulin, Karius). Lots of resources would be spent to strengthen the roads, and this still would be a huge ass to use heavy vehicles like KVs and Tigers (Karius).
Supply issues, resulting in many regiments being undergunned and using trophy or outdated equipment (like finns actively using soviet gear or soviets using captured german cannons as well as keeping KVs until late 1944).
All this results in positionary warfare, heavy artillery fire (including navy guns) and scout groups regularily crossing frontlines causing horror behind the lines and additional paranoia (such as the raids of Ilmari Honkanen).
>Western Front
Western Front aerial warfare was by no means a cakewalk, but Eastern Front was more difficult IMO.
The Fall of the Philippines was definitely not a good time to be in the US military. One the allies fell back to Bataan line units were surviving on a handful of rice a day. Some units would rob supply convoys at gunpoint to try and get more food.
Malaria pills ran out almost immediately after the withdrawal, and troops with malaria and dysentery were sent back to their units on the line and told to tough it out.
Casualties were so extreme that all the airmen on the island were given rifles and turned into an infantry regiment. In theory they were supposed to be a second line unit, but casualties were so extreme that they were pressed to the front and had to fight several battles and delaying actions with no training or experience.
Of course, the surrender happened and everything that came next...

>poor japanese chaps
Every single thing that happened to the nips in WW2 was a light punishment compared to what they truly deserved.
Probably Cinema Rex in Antwerp, Belgium.
The Westerbork Transit Camp Theater?
>What was the worst theater in WW2?
Probably lots to choose from but I'll go with the Theatre Royale after October 1940

The US Servicemen who were trapped in the Philippines and escaped capture became based guerrilas tho who ended up founding the US Army Special Forces.
Antarctica in '47.
Hoteiza in Japan
You might say Hartford Circus if you are more liberal with your definition of theater for the US side.
Of course this is just based off casualties, not actual performances.
worst as in having to endure it daily; Burma
worst as in chances of survival; Ostfront
