There wasn't much, there was no two-sided information war and propaganda going on. What I do distinctly remember is the flood of threads around Euromaidan, which was pretty cool.
This. But it was really fricking different to the RusBlack person bullshit of today. Most people on here celebrated basically anyone who seemed to be an underdog.
I remember all the Maidan threads, the Clankening, the "Chose your fighter" shit and all that. It was fun.
Givi and Motorola were celebrated for being a /k/ommandos moronic wet dream of resisting governmental authorities. As far as I remember, the Russian angle wasn't all that important about them. Well, except for that one moron that spammed about them daily for a couple of weeks.
>Russia isn't an underdog
An army of people who've probably never even heard the word GDP before vs all of the West's economies and military stockpiles isn't the underdog?
This. God damn that shit was awesome. Now it's just the biggest homosexuals shilling for two of the most corrupt countries on planet Earth accusing each other of being evil/bad.
It sucks, I consider myself a newbie still and I showed up in 2011. 12 years ago. I'm genuinely curious when the average /k/ poster today started browsing.
>I'm genuinely curious when the average /k/ poster today started browsing.
I've been on the site as a whole since late 2012, but only really got into /k/ the last few years after I developed chronic guntism.
It's been an excellent influence on my life, pushing me to update my education so I can get an employable degree and in turn own large amounts of firearms, so that I can actually argue with people on the internet about firearms.
I'm not afraid to admit I got roped into PrepHole through /d/ back in high school in like '09 or '10 or some shit. I was just looking through the "other" boards one day when /d/ was being raided by furries and stumbled upon /k/. I had more excitement finding /k/ than I did when I found that first whole thread on muscle-girls on /d/ (what brought me here), I shit you not.
08 /k/ was okay, but as recent as 2016 it's become very difficult to have decent conversations and It's lost the "magical place" feeling it once had because of all the publicity of mass shootings and the increase in prices of firearms.

>forever new

I suspect the original users would rather be in their 20s again– to have been a compliant gun owner and posting on /k/ in 2004, 37-years-old this September at the youngest
The chans turning a Russian District Attorney into a anime waifu was a peak internet moment
>Russian District Attorney into a anime waifu
Funny as it were, that was the prelude to simp culture
Since 2005 man. I'm 38 this year
>2005
Is this Lady of Repute? I heard she posted images of herself back then
Been on PrepHole from like 2004/2005 when I was a teenager. Now I just check out boards when i see things in the news, just a board tourist boomer. Stayed around for a year because of this though.
I've been on PrepHole since 2006-7 but I didn't really get into /k/ until, iono. 2012 or so? I mostly hung out on /tg/ and PrepHole before then.
I am an oldgay pushing 40. I've also mostly wasted my day off posting on here today, I don't even know why.
I also started browsing PrepHole in 2011. I still think of myself as "newbie cancer" but what's crazy is I've been in here longer than the oldgays were at the time that I started.
>Having fun with ytmnd in computer graphics >Learning about Dogpile in infotech >Learning about PrepHole through a Starsiege: Tribes server >Getting my first PC being an e-machine found in a dumpster and sold by a dad getting rid of his kid's shit
Why you gotta make me remember shit? Anyway used PrepHole around 06/07 as a /b/tard. Usually don't post, but forever lurking /k/ since the early 10s because of funny stalker may mays. Occasionally post now because this war is fricking interesting.
Must've been 2015 for me, at least that's when my buddy in high-school started telling me about funny greentexts he saw on /PrepHole/. It was the first I had heard of PrepHole, and it was all downhill from there
Weirdly enough it was the 2008 world cup that got me to start posting on PrepHole. Something about the Vuvuzelas made me stop lurking and start posting. Before then i just browsed PrepHole for porn and gore. I didn't drift over to /k/ until 2012-2014 for some fricking reason. It just never occurred to me there was a weapons board and I love weapons.
I was on PrepHole since 2011 but I honestly didnt browse /k/ until about 2014. I think I know why. Alot of us from 2011 probably came here as /b/tards, and /b/ started to become stale around 2013...
Anyway I miss 2015 /k/....
Remember /k/lass photos? I know it was attention whoring and kinda homosexual, but I was 24 man I just wanted to goof around. It almost felt like a community back then. If you guys have one you should totally post it.
Also just miss when /k/ was about innawoods, STALKER, milsurp, vodka, a campfire song.
I miss it

I was wearing a fencing helmet in my picture. Can’t remember what year it was
Started browsing since 2008? 2009? I forgot.
Pretty sure I got in here through Encyclopedia Dramatica though. Both were pretty good back then. Maybe I am clinging onto old memories hoping that they will get better someday.
And I sometimes wonder whether I would have been a better person if I spent all the time reading books instead of browsing 4chin.
I started in 2008, mostly posting on PrepHole and /b/. I can't remember exactly what brought me to the website which is weird since it's basically my only form of social interaction, you'd think my brain would put a milestone there.
cant answer for at the time a lot of people idolised the commanders on the ground, especially givi (and motorola getting a hot wife kek) but there was quite the shift once the reality set in that those early leaders comitted treason, fought and bled for a nationstate that the second they werent useful sent high explosive rockets through their windows (and for motorola a massive IED)
2015 so newbie at heart but at least i got here before the election tourists
2012 and still a newbie. I miss being a newbie when this place didn't suck. Not just /k/ but all of PrepHole. /misc/ used to at least be funny and racist, now it's just contemporary politics with the intensity cranked to 11 and paid shills. /tg/ is one of the only boards left that still has some of its soul remaining. >wonder why i wasn't a normal kid in high school and why i'm still a whackjob >remember i've been here since i was 12
2012 for me. I used to be a /b/tard prior to then until I started getting interested in gun stuff. Then the clankening happened and I was hooked in. Most of the time I posted patch ideas in the early patch threads. I will always feel like an eternal newbie and I am okay with this now
I've been around since 2006 and remember when /b/ wasn't just a board for random porn fetish threads.
It was the beating heart of PrepHole and is now somewhere I don't think anyone even remotely level-headed is interested in.
>and remember when /b/ wasn't just a board for random porn fetish threads.
It's hard to believe now that /b/ was a genuinely good board that had gem moments pretty much every day. Those were some great times.
Started lurking here around 2011 because I eas learning english and wanted a forum or something like that to engage in conversations and etc.
Now, I'm a racist.
Same. I was underage &b then but damn was the Habbo thing fun.
I dont remember Crimea that much, but Klankening was fun to watch. Then we got the frustrating summer of 2014 with first batch of russians trying to claim that those T-72B3´s in eastern ukraine were not theirs.
What was the content like here in /k/, during 2014 beginning of Crimean invasion?
The CLANKINING!
Romanian tanks in 2 weeks!
This was before the mass shill days when board culture was still dominant. There was a pretty even split in support between the sides but how cool or k something was took priority over everything else. /misc/ still largely functioned as a containment board and the 2016 tourists still hadn't arrived. /b could still be pretty funny as well.
Weirdly I'm normal. I was young enough to know that I shouldn't be looking at shit like when there was a guro board and wasn't interested in the rampant porn. I mostly stuck to threads on Pokémon, Halo, tech, history, and 40k.
I used to play Halo 2 with anons three times my age who would tell me to say Black person down the mic. Things like that didn't matter back then.
If any anons were in the USMC 2004-2007 and used to play Halo 2, 3, and Gears with a bong kid hmu, my Xbox gamertag is still the same I know you're out there homosexuals.
To add there was a lot more people sympathetic towards the idea of the LDR/DPR with people like Givi, Motorola, etc being pretty popular figures. Even when people didn't like them for obvious reasons, they were still memed about. There wasn't this constant political shitshow and astroturfing going on.
Then you had Armatard start posting in the wake of everything.
I never was in delusion to think that people like Givi or Motorola were good guys per se, being ultimately just Russian tools (and ones that were discarded nonchalantly, at that), but at least they had some entertaining madlad energy going on. A mall cop turned a military commander, what the hell? The entire thing was so absurd to watch.
Not to say that this current 2022-onwards status of the war isn’t absurd in its own way, but it’s proportionally more just nasty and disgusting when compared to the ”what the frick is even going on” of 2014 and its clankenings and militias.
>I don't remember anyone posting them
Now come on homie. That vid where he give interview and almost get hit by shrapnel but dont give a shit was kino
I mean, i hope all of them are burning in 9th circle of hell, but still...
This, back then the fringe posters that kept following the civil war after Poroshenko got into power thought that the Ukies were shitheads and the sepies were the underdogs but that was also before MH17 and the obvious Russian troop movements in the donbass
then people started cheering for Azov and the cyborgs
The biggest traffic was still during the clankening though, it made alot of /k/ peepees hard to see that a bunch of citizens can overthrow a government
>then people started cheering for Azov and the cyborgs
lmao no. Everyone was amazed that we got to see a war that didn't involve middle eastern morons lobbing thousand pound mortars at each other with potato guns along with how fricking crazy good the Russian contract BTG's were doing in the East.
We had threads about the riots that I remember, and people were cheering for the ukies, because they did lulzy stuff, like using fireworks aimed toward the russians
But it wasnt like what happens now, it was more of a friendly banter kind of thing, not full on hatred posting
I recall the attitude was mostly proud of the Ukrainians for the clankening, with the average anon thinking Givi or Moto were cool (looking) guys.
There was still that one autistic serboid who freaked out on everyone, but other than that, it was much more civil, and the theme was still "Governments are generally evil, and overthrowing them is cool regardless of if they're heckin' slavs"
You are correct, the East has practically nothing to hold over the West, so they need to incite weird culture war autism.
There is something incredibly fricked to the Russian psyche.
The West is fricking insane, no question, but you still have a decent chance finding sensible people. Look at the outrage at all the shit we pulled in Iraq, Syria, Libya etc.
In Russia, this just doesn't exist. There's a video of a Russian surfer during holidays going "hmmm*~~) how is swimming in kherson piggies*~~)" for no fricking reason.
There is something so incredibly evil to the Russian spirit, that we should all be concerned.
But the worst part isn't even just how comically evil RusBlack folk are, but the whole apolitical shtick. Imagine your country downs a passenger jet, killing a frickton of people. And nobody bats an eye. >what can you do >it of no russia, it separatist)) >i can not change anything...
If my country pulled this shit, the government would be forced out the same day.
Meh, I've met plenty of ethnic Russians, born in Russia, who condemn the actions of the Russian government. However, they are far from the majority (and also they were sensible enough to just... leave Russia). The worst are the Russians who live in NATO countries and kvetch about them, while absolutely refusing to live in Russia again.
what drives the whole situation over the edge is how there are noticeable more loud mouthed idiots from russia compared to other countries or its size, and there is practically no other russian opposing them in any discussion
Went to school with a Russian international student who got a draft notice last fall. He applied for asylum and is going for his masters now to stay in the country. I respected the frick outta that
>Crimean invasion
Next-to-no resistance >Russians cross border over night >Dismiss Ukrainian military in the day >Referendum ensues >Crimeans now RU citizens
The real /k/ontent was from Donetsk and Donbas
/k/ was too small to get the slav shitstorm of 2014, that's what makes the better boards on PrepHole and why oldgays end up on spin-off chans.
Krautchan was royally fricked with gore spam from sosach in every thread and demands for proofs. If you go back to before 2014 you also got to see Putinbots on sosach which were posting gibberish slogans set to trigger when certain words were read - the designers failing to realise the bots would trigger their own responses creating threads with hundreds of posts as the bots replied to each other.
It was more Japan being itself.

Both of you shut the frick up. People who would shit on /misc/ back in the day shit on it for two main things: >/misc/ became the new /b/ which meant most were newbies >/misc/ would spaz out over shit and would moronpost in threads
It was never about the actual politics or racism. If anything, /k/ back then was the mature /misc/ not for growing out of it but for having a more refined form of autism and racism. It was just mainly about newbies shitting up the board and being gay about it. Ever since this site started getting dominated by r*dditgays (/k/ being one of the most hurt boards from r*ddit deleting a lot of shit a few years back for political points) all of this has gone downhill to the point where we now have this revisionism from the perspective of the r*dditgays who are newbies but think they're oldgays pointing their finger at perceived /misc/gays who are either just people who disagree with them or are actual paid shills.
tl;dr something something MOAR DAKKA turned into /arg/ something something the israelites but unironically. Frick all of you.
have a nice day homosexual. /misc/ was pure cancer even for post-chanology PrepHole, Moot deleted /new/ for good reason.
>Krautchan was royally fricked with gore spam from sosach in every thread
It was real strange to watch how russians didnt gave a frick about how the other russians were spamming gore pictures of dead ukranians including dead children, but then they all lost their shit in unison when someone made fun of some poor babushka. Shit was unreal to watch, but opened the eyes of a lot of people to the true nature of the russians.
>the designers failing to realise the bots would trigger their own responses creating threads with hundreds of posts as the bots replied to each other.
Sounds hilarious, got any link/screencaps?
Mostly just about the clankening and donbass fighting. Not much about the Crimean invasion other than peoto-varniks puffing their chests about the superiority of the Russian military, which in retrospect is quite funny but was much less annoying at the time
I went back in the archive and found a thread from back then and it was the same exact discussion being had today, quite interesting
It was also split 50/50 support for Russia and Ukraine
As I remember it, there wasn't the myriad objective evidence of Russian incompetence we have today and the ukies themselves were as incompetent if not more so at the time, for which there 'was' myriad evidence. Most of the support for.ukraine at the time was from hating Russians and their proxy war eternal revolution bull shit
There wasn’t a big propaganda push from the West so no one here actually cared about who was winning. We all enjoyed the spectacle of that big heli rush. There was some Motorola fanboyism but it wasn’t annoying. No war tourists. 2022 showed us how easily the masses are controlled by propaganda.
as it should be, the topics stay solely focused on guns this way rather than Black person like ape outs having to do with intercountry rivalries and dick measuring
this isn't fricking PrepHole
I remember posting some photos from a BBC article of trebuchets and riot police turtle formations from Euromaidan which got a lot of replies, so nobody was reading about it before they commented. It was like it is now, just less so
The picture of the spetsnaz guys in Crimea rocking tracksuit tops, jeans and white armbands got posted a whole lot.
There were also equipment ID threads where anons identified weapons which were only in service in the Russian army and quickly proven the little green men to be Russian army regulars.
Mostly people were perving over all the cool new russian camo and gear, the 'little green men' aesthetic was great. We didn't realise it was all made out of paper and largely imaginary at the time
>We didn't realise it was all made out of paper and largely imaginary at the time
It wasn’t, those were good troops, Russia had a small professional landforce with actual gear and training with good soldiers on an individual level
Those perished in the early weeks of the war because their command structure is absolute gargabe
Welcome to oligarch dictatorships where yesmen get into positions of power and no form of meristrocracy exists
They failed because they are afforded zero initiative and Russians are mentally cucked from birth. It has nothing to do with command when allied airborne forces in normandy at 1/4 strength stormed german positions, took 50% casualties and then moved on to the next objective.
Russians are not well trained. They are not professional to a western european standard.
This would also be an accurate description of the US army and the Canadian army from my own experience. Big difference being is that fighting sand people that know your guys don’t want to be there or carpet bombing North African shitholes is a lot different than fighting Europeans(even Slavic ones).
Back then /k/ was more like /misc/ - lite/ filled with schizos worried about the CIABlack folk stealing their guns, it wasn't the reddit-lite we know and love today.

Nah, I thought the spastics bringing up muh israelites or muh Black folk in random threads about guns or planes or whatever the frick were just as annoying back then as I do now. They just don't get dogpiled like they used to.
If mods actually did their jobs and made sure /misc/ stayed as a containment board, we wouldn't even have to worry about the sheer amount of spam about their schizoid theories on race and israelites. Jannies refusal to keep that shit exclusive to /misc/ made it so that places like here and PrepHole get raided by those spergs constantly.
Most /misc/lacks don't even give a frick about guns. Hell, I think most are probably pro-gun control.
The report function for /misc/ crap outside of /misc/ like we have one for pony content for /mlp/ is long overdue.
Shit, we should have a 'the homosexual is already ban evading and remaking the same thread again' report function for armatard alone.

It'll never happen because many Jannies are /misc/lacks themselves.
i dunno, but i remember some gays being all
"Ugh normies started reposting these incredibly Niche in jokes to the rest of /k/" and apparently they stopped doing them because of that.
And like I've been around a bit, Used to hang during the Spicy Movie nights, they never seemed that niche to me.
no you moron. that infographic showing the kill death ratio of american vs russian planes was made precisely because /misc/ tourists would show up and rant about muh manly advertisements and gays in the service
/k/ was never /misc/-lite/, it just had a bunch more crossposters that were (tolerably) less grating with their posting habits and were also slightly whiter and slightly less schizo than /misc/ now. Reddit's worst effect on /k/ *and* /misc/ was the shuttering of that thedonald reddit board.
>What was the content like here in /k/, during 2014 beginning of Crimean invasion?
Weirdly enough, nobody was trying to shut down Donbas threads by posting "What weapon is a Donbas?".
/k/ was fricking obsessed with Azov
also /k/ was more fun with alot more innawoods shenanigans. Do you homosexuals even go outside?
Do you even say "Innawoods" anymore?
In regards to /misc/ I’m not prepared to offer a detailed timeline, but one thing is clear: at some point since 2016 it became overrun by non-whites making it hopeless. This also pushed many /misc/ posters off of /misc/ to turn other boards into /misc/, with /k/ being one example.
Much less partisan in the sense of direct alignment with political forces and overall the main atmosphere of discussion was as impartial observers. I do concur that /k/ had a fascination with givi and motorola (before they were liquidated by the russians). But it wasn’t in the vein of vatBlack persony.
Things were much less acrimonious and there wasn’t literal third world shills and newbies clogging up the catalogue. Syria threads were much the same until some russian mercs got shitstomped and that was still less fricking hateful than the shit youre seeing nowadays.
Ukraine has a much more emotionally charged atmosphere, but thats also just sort of the thing to expect when a country is battling for its independent existence instead of having a mild civil war.
It was mostly cool pictures and minimal political sperging. Vice had a very cool documentary series about it.
2016 is when PrepHole went full moronic polirical shitshow
Vice's "documentaries" were soft vatBlack person shit, basically every fricking Western outlet took Russian info rhetoric at face value, we still have gays here calling it a "civil war"
I dont remember the docu being ruskie friendly t b h it did show how savage dineproziggers were and how incompetent the ukranian military was. Journo even got kidnapped and tortured by dnr
If I remember correctly Vice was the only major western outlet who acknowledged Russian involvement and didn't use words like "allegedly". Yes, they this parroted Russian narrative at points but they were still much better than basically anything else
>civil war
That kind of fell apart when we had satellite imagery of Russian MLRS firing from across the border. That's been entirely memory-holed at this point.
Euromaiden had clanking and "tanks in 30 minutes" while Crimea just had posts about little green men and that story about Russia capturing Ukrainian navy seals (literal sea lions and dolphins)
the MH17 shootdown is also the first time I realised /k/ had literal paid beetposting shills towing moscow's party line and it only got 50x worse from that point on with the Russian shilling.
MH17 was when I started to hate Russia and russians. Before then I had bought into the idea that most ordinary Russians are decent people with a government that did shit they were opposed to. Like our government does shit sometimes we disagree with.
Then I watched Russian after Russian on krautchan throw shit in my face with a big shiteating grin and tell me to like it. I watched them laughing at dead civilians with what can only be described as satanic glee.
And you know what else I noticed? Not a single Russiaball condemned this behaviour from their government or their countrymen. Not a single one. Eye opening fricking moment.

>If my country pulled this shit, the government would be forced out the same day.
That's the first world for you.
Russans are suffering from a heavy and chronical case of overcompensation. If you're buttfricked metaphorically and literally everyday all your life you'll start looking for someone who is in the worse position to make sure that at least you're not on the very bottom. And the extremely hierarchial nature of the Russian society makes you do to them what you experience from people above you. It is really a slave mentality, there is no helping it.
>In Russia, this just doesn't exist. There's a video of a Russian surfer during holidays going "hmmm*~~) how is swimming in kherson piggies*~~)" for no fricking reason.
Was he really the guy who got eaten by a shark after posting that? I remember some claims about it but unsure how true it is
There is something incredibly fricked to the Russian psyche.

my favorite thing is reading """anti-war""" russians on social media and certain imageboards.
They are unironically more upset with people not liking Russia, than with the war itself. >of course i am against war...but you have to admit usa also very bad and in fact crimea historical russian land...
even on this godforsaken board, you'll find those creatures now and then. My favorite interaction was a couple of weeks ago, when someone asked the RusBlack person why he wasn't just shooting recruitment officers. He was supposedly too worried for his own life (fair enough). Within two posts he also admitted that if mobilised, he would go to Ukraine because >what else can he do...
>>what else can he do...
I think this is a very common sentiment in Russian culture and is the result of centuries of autocratic rule imposed on the country. Ever since the reign of Ivan the Terrible, those in power in Russia have had a downright neurotic desire to control every little aspect of life. Everything from what language people spoke, to where people moved and by whom they were employed, to even which way they made the sign of the cross, was controlled and managed by the state. There were practically zero tolerance for any kind of dissent, and whenever it popped-up it was dealt with quickly and brutally. When a people live under those kinds of regimes for such a lengthy period, they tend to develop an intense indifference to all matters of civic life, if only as a kind of defense mechanisms. When they don't believe they can change anything, they don't give a shit if anything does. If any attempt to improve things is met with exile or execution, then what's the point of trying? So they just take the path of least resistance, whether it be serving a regime they don't care about, constructing a canal which would benefit no-one, or fighting in a war they don't believe in. Russia is a great big prison, and everyone, even those who would be considered it's guards and wardens, are prisoners in it. Most people just try to keep their heads down and serve their sentence.
I feel you here about MH17. I remember seeing images of the aftermath. There's one photo of two conjoined airliner seats on a road, seated within are the corpses of two dead children. A few days later it was reported that two Australian twins or brothers (with their grandparents) had died on the flight and I knew it was them. The image is seared into my mind. Then I think about the pictures of the """separatists""" gloating and looting from the luggage of the flight.
I think not enough people here have seen those images, or we would be supporting Ukraine far more than we have been.
newbie cancer here started in 2016 before the election would usually browse /misc/ then it became clutterd and stopped using it found /k/ it was a heaven of fun stalker threads millsurp and general fun then it got astroturfed now you have the /k/ today
I was around from 2007 to present. I remember lots of young Ukrainians were taking footage with digital cameras and phones. Teens with LMGs and RPGs in roadside ditches laying down fire on the roads. Photos of troop transports with dudes sitting on them. We were interested in seeing that some were bringing VSS out with them. Stuff like that mostly. We didn't see a bunch of STALKER patches on soldiers or weapons from all over the world flooding into the Zone.
My personal favorite arc of /k/ was ParkourDude91, AKA JACE CONNORS DEAGLEMAN

It was actually kinda funny because Russians were pretending it wasn't a russian invasion but their dumbass privates kept posting Instagram pictures with their names, job and geotag.
There was this one case with the russian rocket artillery, picture geolocated a few clicks away from the border to Ukraine in Russia, all launchers aimed in the direction of Ukraine, satellite pictures also shown scorch marks on the field from the launched missile shot into Ukraine and other satellite pictures showing where it impacted in Ukraine, the distribution also showed it was fired from the direction of Russia. Vatniks just said this wasn't proving anything. There is a reason the proofster meme was a thing.
The one thread I will always remember is when Russian tanks were rolling into Ukraine and Armatard (the actual original one) got to a point where he was demanding the serial numbers of the tanks in the videos and photos of the invading forces to prove that they were Russian. Shit was wacky.
I remember watching those livestreams of the protests, which eventually became THE CLANKENING, it was pretty epic. Also the TANKS IN 30 MINUTES was a thing, I don’t even remember the exact context for it. This all happened a few months after Democrats were trying to pass an assault weapons ban and other gun control shit, and congress voted against it and Obama went on TV crying afterwards. Those threads were pretty fun, it was a good time to be posting on this board.
I’ve been posting since at least before that Dark Knight Rises movie theater shooting happened. Long enough to I remember when saying “Black person” resulted in an auto-ban so you had to get creative and call them redguards (there was another word too but I can’t remember it). PrepHole was so much more fun and interesting when /b/ and to some extent /PrepHole/ were the flagship boards, now that /misc/ took over it’s drawn an unsavory crowd (this board seems to have it the worst since there’s so much crossover). A lot of the oldgays left and are on various discord servers. Othias used to post on here, so did that Alex homosexual from TFBTV.
>left and are on various discord servers
Good, who TF misses those furries and trannies >Alex >used to post on here
No way, James and Eric are the lur/k/ers, Alex takes himself too seriously to ever visit
Really glad you asked this because that was the year I started regularly browsing. I'd say that it definitely felt more niche back then, and there was generally a much stronger sense of community. More interest in things like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., stores like Nugget Enterprises popping up, innawoods threads, /k/ radio being a regular thing. Being ~18y/o and staying up all night reading creepy skinwalker stories while recovering from a major surgery will always be a formative memory for me. A lot of people may forget this was also the same time ISIS was truly kicking into gear, and we were treated to webm after webm of intense close-combat footage and armored vehicles getting blown up. Crazy to believe I've been to Syria since seeing all of those. I think structure-wise, it was nicer because Syria and Ukraine each had a single thread devoted to them at any given time, and they were much more coherent and felt less like an info-war battlefield. Generally the board didn't hate either side of the initial conflict, I think we were more just interested as bystanders and did find something relatable in the scrappy underdog rebels like Givi and Motorola. Never forget the "Spartan" battalion that would wear the actual Spartan logo from the Metro games. Part of our fascination for that conflict had to have stemmed for /k/'s old love of slavshit. Those were the days when you could still get a "moist nugget" for ~100 burgerbux or an AK-74 for under a grand, and ammo for both was extremely cheap and plentiful. Before Russia invaded, 7n6 was like 10cpr. That's about how much .22lr has been for a lot of my life. Thanks for giving a spot for an "old" newbie to wax poetic, this board has always been apart of my adult life (been to 3 or 4 nuggetfests, used to do some oddjobs for Kommandostore, was briefly apart of /k/radio, and would scrawl /k/ in sharpie on the inside of the basic training porta shitters at Ft. Jackson).
I should add that even back then, people would whine and cry that /k/ was shit and it was so much better in 2008. Forever it will have been best when YOU started browsing. However, I really did notice 2016 as being a turning point and board culture took a bit of a dive. I am sad to see the state of the patch threads, they used to be pretty cool back in the day. There is even a /k/ommunity patch mod for Arma 3 that adds a bunch of great ones, some of which I own IRL. Nowadays it has really slowed down, is 90%+ weeb shit, and every single image posted is replied with "make that into a patch!!!" without any regard for how it would look in that medium, and that no one on earth would buy that design. The patch threads will be great again.
pretty much no one cared about this conflict until Russia invaded, which is why oldgays know these people spamming israelitekraine threads constantly are redditors and glowBlack person bots
That was a shitty forced meme. And mostly a /b/ thing anyway.
I've been on PrepHole since about 2006. Oddly enough when I actually owned a firearm I never came to /k/, because it wasn't a hobby it was a necessary tool I carried because I felt like I needed one to be safe.
It was only after I moved from South Africa to the UK and obviously couldn't carry a gun anymore that I missed it and started coming to /k/.
Everyone but the vatniks calling out the little green men as obviously Russian. The vatnik shills constant asking for proof. Thus the proofster memes were born.
There wasn't much, there was no two-sided information war and propaganda going on. What I do distinctly remember is the flood of threads around Euromaidan, which was pretty cool.
>There wasn't much, there was no two-sided information war and propaganda going on
what an odd revisionism
We literally cheered for the separatists, made heroes of Givi and Motorola
"We"
An army of people who've probably never even heard the word GDP before vs all of the West's economies and military stockpiles isn't the underdog?
>all of the West's economies and military stockpiles
What are you on about Black person?
you /misc/troons had not discovered this place then pidorashka
This. God damn that shit was awesome. Now it's just the biggest homosexuals shilling for two of the most corrupt countries on planet Earth accusing each other of being evil/bad.
>We literally cheered for the separatists
"We" cheered for Abu Hajaar too...
I cant believe ive been on PrepHole for over 11 years
No going back now. Its terminal.
08 /k/ was okay, but as recent as 2016 it's become very difficult to have decent conversations and It's lost the "magical place" feeling it once had because of all the publicity of mass shootings and the increase in prices of firearms.
>forever new
Versus
>forty-something
I suspect the original users would rather be in their 20s again– to have been a compliant gun owner and posting on /k/ in 2004, 37-years-old this September at the youngest
>Russian District Attorney into a anime waifu
Funny as it were, that was the prelude to simp culture
>2005
Is this Lady of Repute? I heard she posted images of herself back then
Been on PrepHole from like 2004/2005 when I was a teenager. Now I just check out boards when i see things in the news, just a board tourist boomer. Stayed around for a year because of this though.
I tried to find one of my old threads on 4plebs. It doesn't go back far enough.
09 forever newbie here. Shit has changed so much since then.
>Having fun with ytmnd in computer graphics
>Learning about Dogpile in infotech
>Learning about PrepHole through a Starsiege: Tribes server
>Getting my first PC being an e-machine found in a dumpster and sold by a dad getting rid of his kid's shit
Now I'm 36.
>Vuvuzelas
Holy shit that takes me back. Thanks for the laugh.
I miss it
> /k/lass photos
Frick man, I completely forgot. I made it into a few of them.
post one
>post one
>If you guys have one you should totally post it.
hey yah, guys if you have one POST IT!
totally cool!
the government needs to face-ID you, and build a profile on you!
why not just search the archive gay?
youre the only people who find value in swimming the eternal septic tank of shit-posts, im sure you could use some kind of search algorithm to query the DB untill you found them
>search the archive for posts from 10 years ago
Also I know youre a newbie because you dont know that 9/10 people had their faces covered.
Welcome to PrepHole you fricking zoomer homosexual
I was wearing a fencing helmet in my picture. Can’t remember what year it was
I think I remember someone in a fencing helmet
Started browsing since 2008? 2009? I forgot.
Pretty sure I got in here through Encyclopedia Dramatica though. Both were pretty good back then. Maybe I am clinging onto old memories hoping that they will get better someday.
And I sometimes wonder whether I would have been a better person if I spent all the time reading books instead of browsing 4chin.
I started in 2008, mostly posting on PrepHole and /b/. I can't remember exactly what brought me to the website which is weird since it's basically my only form of social interaction, you'd think my brain would put a milestone there.
Late 11/early 12
I was underageb& as frick
05/06. I remember a lot of tripgays and zombie apocalypse threads
cant answer for at the time a lot of people idolised the commanders on the ground, especially givi (and motorola getting a hot wife kek) but there was quite the shift once the reality set in that those early leaders comitted treason, fought and bled for a nationstate that the second they werent useful sent high explosive rockets through their windows (and for motorola a massive IED)
2015 so newbie at heart but at least i got here before the election tourists
started on /b/ in 2010, found my way to /k/ pretty quickly and have been browsing daily since
2017
ngl, i've only been here a week or two. not a war tourist tho, i was just hoping to find better PrepHoletorical content than is available on PrepHole.
2012 and still a newbie. I miss being a newbie when this place didn't suck. Not just /k/ but all of PrepHole. /misc/ used to at least be funny and racist, now it's just contemporary politics with the intensity cranked to 11 and paid shills. /tg/ is one of the only boards left that still has some of its soul remaining.
>wonder why i wasn't a normal kid in high school and why i'm still a whackjob
>remember i've been here since i was 12
2012 for me. I used to be a /b/tard prior to then until I started getting interested in gun stuff. Then the clankening happened and I was hooked in. Most of the time I posted patch ideas in the early patch threads. I will always feel like an eternal newbie and I am okay with this now
2007 here but I doubt the newbies are going to post 2022 so the data is going to be skewed older.
newbie
Since 2005 man. I'm 38 this year
I've been around since 2006 and remember when /b/ wasn't just a board for random porn fetish threads.
>/b/ wasn't just a board for random porn fetish threads
random? its all troony shit and BBC threads.
I'm a 2005-gay as well, but I'm fricking 40. It's over.
perfect digits
Next year will be my 20th year on this shit bucket in an ocean of shit. No regrats.
You’re here forever.
The ride never ends
I've been here since 2008.
Fricking summergay.
Started lurking here around 2011 because I eas learning english and wanted a forum or something like that to engage in conversations and etc.
Now, I'm a racist.
Make that 16
Same. I was underage &b then but damn was the Habbo thing fun.
I dont remember Crimea that much, but Klankening was fun to watch. Then we got the frustrating summer of 2014 with first batch of russians trying to claim that those T-72B3´s in eastern ukraine were not theirs.
>2009
>grab muh moist nugget
>muh ess kay ess

Been in PrepHole since 07
Me too.
Since 2005 for me. There is no hope now.
The last one got me.
newbie. Don't forget you are here forever.
I have been on 4 chan 14 years FML.
I came here from SA in 2003 so two decades for me.
>for over 11 years
>2012
newbie
Could be worse I've been here since I was 9. I've been here for 2/3 of my life.
Anyone else remember when /X/ was photography?
I can only imagine how fricked up you turned out to be.
If any anons were in the USMC 2004-2007 and used to play Halo 2, 3, and Gears with a bong kid hmu, my Xbox gamertag is still the same I know you're out there homosexuals.
>it’s been 16 years
Not divisive and more of an analysis of the situation
It was a lot of posts of Russian guns and gear, but the main focus was the Clankening which had a lot of good content come from those threads.
People liked Givi and Motorola because they were adorable idiots anons could see themselves in.
I don't remember anyone posting them. I think posting these degenerates is a very recent thing
You're a newbie tourist that wasn't around then
Nah, I remember content from the battle of Donetsk Airport.
>I don't remember anyone posting them
Now come on homie. That vid where he give interview and almost get hit by shrapnel but dont give a shit was kino
I mean, i hope all of them are burning in 9th circle of hell, but still...
all I remember was laughing at the zigger burned in Odessa and nods to the maidan revolution
There was still that one autistic serboid who freaked out on everyone, but other than that, it was much more civil, and the theme was still "Governments are generally evil, and overthrowing them is cool regardless of if they're heckin' slavs"
>and the theme was still "Governments are generally evil"
oh man, I wonder who would benefit from this board becoming more pro authoritarianism.
You are correct, the East has practically nothing to hold over the West, so they need to incite weird culture war autism.
Next-to-no resistance
>Russians cross border over night
>Dismiss Ukrainian military in the day
>Referendum ensues
>Crimeans now RU citizens
The real /k/ontent was from Donetsk and Donbas
The chans turning a Russian District Attorney into a anime waifu was a peak internet moment
It was more Japan being itself.
have a nice day homosexual.
It was very sad suka.
>the designers failing to realise the bots would trigger their own responses creating threads with hundreds of posts as the bots replied to each other.
Sounds hilarious, got any link/screencaps?
May I see it?
Post it
goddamn i remember furiously fapping to her
I still do. She's in her 40's and looks better than most western women do in their 20's.
russia should have invaded then
they dun goofed
Mostly just about the clankening and donbass fighting. Not much about the Crimean invasion other than peoto-varniks puffing their chests about the superiority of the Russian military, which in retrospect is quite funny but was much less annoying at the time
I went back in the archive and found a thread from back then and it was the same exact discussion being had today, quite interesting
It was also split 50/50 support for Russia and Ukraine
less s/k/itzo posting back then
As I remember it, there wasn't the myriad objective evidence of Russian incompetence we have today and the ukies themselves were as incompetent if not more so at the time, for which there 'was' myriad evidence. Most of the support for.ukraine at the time was from hating Russians and their proxy war eternal revolution bull shit
Euromaidan threads were fun as frick, guys building siege engines and fighting the government with homemade versions of riot shields
It's still bizarre that hiroshimoot didn't enable fricking flags on this board.
as it should be, the topics stay solely focused on guns this way rather than Black person like ape outs having to do with intercountry rivalries and dick measuring
this isn't fricking PrepHole
Frick off, eurogay. You don’t even own guns, you just came here to talk about the war.
There was a whole lot less shilling and more organic posting.
Lotta technicals, some unironic shills, semi-interest across the board and euromaidan.
clangk :DDDD
Was less gay and the CIA shills were less obvious
Back then /k/ was more like /misc/ - lite/ filled with schizos worried about the CIABlack folk stealing their guns, it wasn't the reddit-lite we know and love today.
Back then, /k/ actively shit on /misc/, as it does now. The underage kids just grew up a good bit.
Both of you shut the frick up. People who would shit on /misc/ back in the day shit on it for two main things:
>/misc/ became the new /b/ which meant most were newbies
>/misc/ would spaz out over shit and would moronpost in threads
>If anything, /k/ back then was the mature /misc/ not for growing out of it but for having a more refined form of autism and racism.
It'll never happen because many Jannies are /misc/lacks themselves.
whatever became of that artgay?
i dunno, but i remember some gays being all
"Ugh normies started reposting these incredibly Niche in jokes to the rest of /k/" and apparently they stopped doing them because of that.
And like I've been around a bit, Used to hang during the Spicy Movie nights, they never seemed that niche to me.
The Clank was fricking great though,
newbie at best
>t. 2016 newbie
>he says, while projecting
Refer to
no you moron. that infographic showing the kill death ratio of american vs russian planes was made precisely because /misc/ tourists would show up and rant about muh manly advertisements and gays in the service
/k/ always will be a mature board. Actual operators post here.
>Back then /k/ was more like /misc/ - lite
>it wasn't the reddit-lite we know and love today.
Very organic post, /misc/Black person.
/misc/ itself was nothing like it is today. 2016 ruined everything
This. nu-/misc/ is a toxic mix of unironic reddititors, shitskins, and /x/ schizos
clankening, more fun, less cancer in general, absurdly higher quality posting
no pol
no vatniks
no war tourists
>What was the content like here in /k/, during 2014 beginning of Crimean invasion?
Weirdly enough, nobody was trying to shut down Donbas threads by posting "What weapon is a Donbas?".
Why would you shut down threads talking about the Famas on /k/?
/k/ was fricking obsessed with Azov
also /k/ was more fun with alot more innawoods shenanigans. Do you homosexuals even go outside?
Do you even say "Innawoods" anymore?
They were obsessed because of unironic nazi shit.
And?
You're so pathetically new, lmao
Why don't you go look
And nobody bats an eye.
>what can you do
>it of no russia, it separatist))
>i can not change anything...
If my country pulled this shit, the government would be forced out the same day.
I remember some claims about it but unsure how true it is
my favorite thing is reading """anti-war""" russians on social media and certain imageboards.
Within two posts he also admitted that if mobilised, he would go to Ukraine because
>what else can he do...
I refuse to believe Russiansa re real.
>>what else can he do...
>/k/ had literal paid beetposting shills
You didn't realize it when russia released yet another wonderwaffe?
PrepHole wasn’t created until 2016
A lot of unironic "not invasion, those are indigenous local self defense forces armed at friendly local sporting goods store!" Posting.
CLAAAAAANK
Who still has CLANK memes
newbie cancer here started in 2016 before the election would usually browse /misc/ then it became clutterd and stopped using it found /k/ it was a heaven of fun stalker threads millsurp and general fun then it got astroturfed now you have the /k/ today
Crimeans. I was thinking about how it was comparing to the current sit in Ukraine and my ADHD....
My personal favorite arc of /k/ was ParkourDude91, AKA JACE CONNORS DEAGLEMAN
unironic newbie
I can't even have an endemic mammal like a sugar glider here. How would I ever get a pet monkey?
>How would I ever get a pet monkey?
With that attitude, how do you expect to aquire the other three?
You frickin steal it,then
>Captcha: SONNNN
it was much more subdued, not to mention way less footage.
More similar to today than you might think. Search the archives for "TANKS IN 20", it was the precursor for "2 more weeks"
Roody poo
>left and are on various discord servers
Good, who TF misses those furries and trannies
>Alex
>used to post on here
No way, James and Eric are the lur/k/ers, Alex takes himself too seriously to ever visit
The clankening was peak /k/
A lot of gays jerking off to the car washer and mall cop. It vanished when they did though kek.
pretty much no one cared about this conflict until Russia invaded, which is why oldgays know these people spamming israelitekraine threads constantly are redditors and glowBlack person bots
>who the frick are these buttholes?
KLANK
I was here when people were buying $90 Nuggets by the crate and made cool lit-up coffee tables.
I almost bought one of those
Everyone but the vatniks calling out the little green men as obviously Russian. The vatnik shills constant asking for proof. Thus the proofster memes were born.
