Insulators work enough hours until they qualify for unemployment insurance and then dick around for a few months until they need to qualify for more UI hours. Their primary tool is a steak knife and numerous insulators have attempted to fake workplace injuries so they can get on disability benefits. Just sad sacks all around.

Hoping I can stick it out for 6 months and switch departments in the company to maintenance or something, then weigh my options again once I've been there a year.

I switched companies then moved to Alaska and make 24hr doing retro commercial and residential install for a smallish mid size company that treats me right. Not anywhere near my end goal of working as a service guy but I at least have an idea of what I'm doing and can see a path forward.

Anything's with flooring constant hunched over and kneeling. It's got frick you up.
Concrete stuff. Similar shitty kneeling and hunching in 105 degree weather.

Painting because all the ladder work.
Frick plumbing commercial installation would probably be ok but the repair shit would be nasty

The most miserable trade is comercial diving.
Is a very phisical intense work, you lots of cold, it is arguably the most dangerous job and it causes long term helth damage.
All this for a pay wich is really not big
I've only a limited experience with most tradesfolk as I'm an apprentice locksmith, I show up after most of the work is done, or all of it. That said, of all of my friends who are tradesmen, the only one who said "Frick this" and decided to career change was a plumber. Another good friend also said "Frick this" but he was a chef.

Just call different outfits during business hours you autist, and don’t lie about experience because those guys will know the second they put you on tools and you don’t really know what you’re doing.

You should always take some time to practice or study, but don't lie about experience. I have lost so much time from former co-workers claiming to have experience but make a mess of things. At this point when someone shows me pictures or videos of their work I take it as with a grain of salt.

25y/o electrician apprentice here. I feel your pain. I know more about what I do than the 30+ year experience "elektrishun" that I'm currently paired with. He's a nice guy, but he's moronic. And most of my coworkers around my age are more concerned with their paycheck than they are with doing things in a professional manner. My bosses like me because I'm nice and I don't frick things up, and they know I make them a lot of money. 100's on all my grades.
I miss living up north, even though the people are generally more miserable.
This is part of why I dropped the tradie meme and found a different career. Almost every single person I've ever met in my field (carpenter gay) was completely fricking moronic and barely competent. In fact, I've noticed the boomers who talked the most shit were the worst carpenters.
