It has clearly posted safety rules and policies that are strictly enforced,, attentive staff and RSOs, and is filled with normal middle class citizens sensibly conversing with each oher about inconsequential topics while they either learn about gun handling, practice and maintain their guns, or attend mandatory classes required to qualify for concealed carry permits
Shitty Outdoor >Posted rules are longer than 5 sentences >Boomer Range Officer with Vietnam Vet cap and cargo shorts >Most other shooters are 45+ years old and only shooting bolt-action hunting rifles >Boomer Fudd Survivalist type with a Ruger Mini-14
Shitty Indoor >Is an indoor range >Is within city limits >All cops, all tourists or all gangbangers >Either have to rent one of theirs or buy ammo to shoot your own gun >Range Officer is a pizza face kid who wants to be a cop.
>Posted rules are longer than 5 sentences >Boomer Range Officer with Vietnam Vet cap and cargo shorts >Most other shooters are 45+ years old and only shooting bolt-action hunting rifles >Boomer Fudd Survivalist type with a Ruger Mini-14
Literally none of these things are problems you sperg.
200% this. All the nice ranges in my area (long distance available, references needed, fees to keep the melanin low) require NRA membership. Not GOA, not FPC, but NRA only. Fricking homosexuals.
The best outdoor range I have ever been to required a NRA membership but only at the initial sign up. It was a 50 dollars a year range with a 25, 100, 200, and 550 yard range that was decently clean, hardly a soul went there, and the other members weren't just exclusively fudds. No RSO's present, no stupid rules or any real rules for that matter, and you were able to shoot tannerite. There were actually a couple precision shooters there and were able to get barricades installed on the 550 range. Granted, there were turbo fudds present, but they seldomly ever engaged with you because that would require them to walk 50 yard from the pistol range.
They never checked if you kept your membership to date and only required you to mail in 50 dollars every year to keep your membership active.
I'm kind of conflicted on the steel case indoors thing. Part of it is probably the range being a bunch of brass israelites, but given the amount of unburnt gunpowder floating around, it might be an actual issue the same way steel core is dangerous as frick at an indoor range.
Fire rate limits.
I hate that shit.
People NEED to train rapid follow up shots and recoil control to be effective.
Trying to be sniper with every single bullet creates bad habits that make bad shooters.
Also I wanna magdump into trash.
It's my ammo, I should choose how fast I throw it away.
>Fire rate limits.
Yeah this is the worst. If it's outdoors it's absolutely inexcusable. If it's indoors I'm mildly sympathetic as a rule for the general public, but if it applies to members too then lolnope.

my outdoor range has rapid fire rules, but they only care if you mag dump. i shoot my shots quickly and have never heard anyone yelling about rapid fire.
Friendly reminder : a lot of range rules aren't written by the range owners, they're written by the insurance companies. Or they exist because some shitheel did something stupid and ruined it for everyone. Automatic fire used to be allowed at my range. Then some fricking idiot(s) chewed up the range equipment more than once; and now no automatic fire.
No rapid fire. Because same thing.
Now they even have to tell folks that your firearm needs to have functional sights, if it doesn't you're not allowed to use it on the range.
The rules exist because of insurance israelites and fricking morons; not because the folks that own the range want to be shitty (usually).
if they are open to the public they're probably dogshit.
got a membership to a conservation club with like 6 berms and 100-200 yard rifle, plus bays for clays, for 80 a year. i rarely see people there and its also like a 10 acre area connected to a public lands unit thats nearly 500 acres.
Range by me is owned by a deranged ptsd veteran who goes crazy on people who leave one star Google reviews, has doxxed people, had a bounty for reviewers and redditors on his website, has threatened to call the ATF on people, has been banned from pafoa, paguns on reddit like 30x but just makes new accounts, and a lot more. Guardian Training Center in Warminster PA. Check out that on Google and filter by 1 star review, shits hilarious.
Here is a video someone made about some of his antics.

You asked for obvious signs dickshit, these are all obvious signs you are visiting a Boomer/Fudd range
>these are all obvious signs you are visiting a Boomer/Fudd range
Problem?
You have to join the NRA to get membership to the range.

No White Only sign on the door.

They spell "whites" as "Members", but you know.

Being a public gun range and not your personal backyard range
More than one boomer present.

The only outdoor range near me requires you to be an NRA member, probably not a good sign
