I don't understand American construction
Why isn't any cement used for houses? Why is drywall considered a normal construction material even though it's weak as frick?
It's cheaper, easier to mass produce homes, and it's good enough unless you live in hurricane prone areas. Most Euros end up renting their entire lives.
>Why isn't any cement used for houses?
Because it's damn near impossible to add/fix plumbing, electrics, or even structure in a cement wall. American homes are typically built on lots of land as opposed to rowhouses/etc, so it's expected the current and future homeowners will add-on and modernize over the years.
The only real reason is because wood is cheaper than cement. This is partly because of how abundant wood is and how much lighter it is to transport. The vast majority of American houses are also designed to be the cheapest pieces of shit possible to necessitate repairs when the weather gets a bit too shitty.

Trades apprenticeship
Found these guys https://www.forgeco.com/trades/apprentice_program
Is carpentry a good field to go into? They start May 1st and I think it's a good fit for me.
But I know jack shit about carpentry or the field.
Carpentry sucks. You will be making 30-40 an hour killing yourself at your peak. HVAC and Plumber guys in a van will be doing double what you do.
>killing yourself
Gee man maybe use an electric saw
insulation, a blanket, a chair, and some kind of heating apparatus that doubles as a stove. Maybe a nice lamp.
