Some autist on ar15.com found the original paint used on the 601s btw, green zinc chromate primer that was used on aircraft interiors and is still used for maritime use today. It doesn’t bond well to plastic which is why most antique 601 parts are super ate up and chromium is also very very bad for you when inhaled so do what you will with this information

These are done with tamiya TS5 "dark olive" there is an undercoat of behr manzanita brown, then several coats of ts5, and a couple coats of spay on polyurethane. Apparently someone figured out the original paint colt was using by scanning some old factory records. It's a zinc chromate based primer. The tamiya looks great, and has the correct color changing aspects in indoor vs natural light- I have yet to try out the zinc chromate (it's still made with the original formula and is available online) I bought a full set from numrich to paint, so I'll know shortly how they compare.

yeah the detachable carry handle works great for that specific use. I don't know why people act like it's a bad riser either, yeah sure it takes up a bit of rail space but it makes up for that with the integrated irons. you're not putting anything other than irons + dot on the receiver rail on an AR15 anyway.

I'm just working off the numbers the lazy zoomer gave me.
I'm a variety collector who can't have two guns that are too similar in my collection. Everything has to have a different style/role/caliber/action type/etc... Everything has a unique fit in my collection.
I love all my guns equally and try my hardest to get them all to the range for some shooting time as often as I can manage. I'm primarily a leisure target shooter, but I also carry for defense, and train for that as well.
I enjoy showing off my oddball guns to normies at the range, and like letting people take shots with guns they've never touched before. I like to broaden people's horizons by showing them there's more guns out there than just ARs and Glocks.
I tend to hoard ammo, and have a habit of buying ammo and shooting it right away instead of using my old stock first.
I dabble in amateur gunsmithing, primarily because I find the mechanical aspect of firearms fascinating. Part of why I collect such a diverse array of guns is that I like to learn about their unique mechanisms. I have taken apart and reassembled every gun I own, and sometimes do it for no reason other than the stimulation.
I like the smell of burnt gunpowder and bluing compound.
Did a lot of hunting when I was a kid. Now I'm a brokeass mossneck gunsmith who mostly takes broken not-shooters off of people's hands for cheap and makes them shooters again. There are a shocking amount of people out there who break a recoil spring or lose a pin trying to reassemble a gun and are perfectly willing to sell it for a tenth of the original price when the part is still on the market and costs under $20. Or ding a muzzle and aren't willing to do a 10-minute recrown. Once you have a lathe, a torch, a drill press, and a basic understanding of metallurgy the world's your oyster.
Also, black powder is neat and you should play around with BP guns more. Maybe even make your own powder and primers.

My guy. You can get a reasonably reliable self-defense pistol brand-new for less than $300. If you're lucky you can get a used cop gun in good condition. Another hundred bucks of 9mm or .380 will be enough to get familiar with the gun. If all you need is home defense, a Maverick 88 and a hundred rounds of #4 buckshot will cost less than that. It'll get you to the point you can drop a man-sized target 10/10 from any range you'll see in your house and probably not even trash your TV. A cleaning kit for either gun is like $25 if you splurge. I'm broke as frick, but I've managed to get a machine shop in my garage and a solid safe by lurking local auctions with a strict budget and a lot of patience.

Where I live, people used to shoot squirrels with every gauge avalible. And people in fur trade love their guns light, that's why they often used small bore shotguns like 32, 28, 20, maybe .410 (I just don't recall .410 being made in USSR). What matters is the shot size, not the gauge.

Some autist on ar15.com found the original paint used on the 601s btw, green zinc chromate primer that was used on aircraft interiors and is still used for maritime use today. It doesn’t bond well to plastic which is why most antique 601 parts are super ate up and chromium is also very very bad for you when inhaled so do what you will with this information

These are done with tamiya TS5 "dark olive" there is an undercoat of behr manzanita brown, then several coats of ts5, and a couple coats of spay on polyurethane. Apparently someone figured out the original paint colt was using by scanning some old factory records. It's a zinc chromate based primer. The tamiya looks great, and has the correct color changing aspects in indoor vs natural light- I have yet to try out the zinc chromate (it's still made with the original formula and is available online) I bought a full set from numrich to paint, so I'll know shortly how they compare.
It's a primary arms 2.5x prism. I like it a lot - the bdc seems to work out to about 400 yards

I'm a variety collector who can't have two guns that are too similar in my collection. Everything has to have a different style/role/caliber/action type/etc... Everything has a unique fit in my collection.
I love all my guns equally and try my hardest to get them all to the range for some shooting time as often as I can manage. I'm primarily a leisure target shooter, but I also carry for defense, and train for that as well.
I enjoy showing off my oddball guns to normies at the range, and like letting people take shots with guns they've never touched before. I like to broaden people's horizons by showing them there's more guns out there than just ARs and Glocks.
I tend to hoard ammo, and have a habit of buying ammo and shooting it right away instead of using my old stock first.
I dabble in amateur gunsmithing, primarily because I find the mechanical aspect of firearms fascinating. Part of why I collect such a diverse array of guns is that I like to learn about their unique mechanisms. I have taken apart and reassembled every gun I own, and sometimes do it for no reason other than the stimulation.
I like the smell of burnt gunpowder and bluing compound.
Did a lot of hunting when I was a kid. Now I'm a brokeass mossneck gunsmith who mostly takes broken not-shooters off of people's hands for cheap and makes them shooters again. There are a shocking amount of people out there who break a recoil spring or lose a pin trying to reassemble a gun and are perfectly willing to sell it for a tenth of the original price when the part is still on the market and costs under $20. Or ding a muzzle and aren't willing to do a 10-minute recrown. Once you have a lathe, a torch, a drill press, and a basic understanding of metallurgy the world's your oyster.
Also, black powder is neat and you should play around with BP guns more. Maybe even make your own powder and primers.

My guy. You can get a reasonably reliable self-defense pistol brand-new for less than $300. If you're lucky you can get a used cop gun in good condition. Another hundred bucks of 9mm or .380 will be enough to get familiar with the gun. If all you need is home defense, a Maverick 88 and a hundred rounds of #4 buckshot will cost less than that. It'll get you to the point you can drop a man-sized target 10/10 from any range you'll see in your house and probably not even trash your TV. A cleaning kit for either gun is like $25 if you splurge. I'm broke as frick, but I've managed to get a machine shop in my garage and a solid safe by lurking local auctions with a strict budget and a lot of patience.

If there was a civil we'd pull the plug on every overseas operation and bring them back home. The armed forces is all about protecting their own citizen from any enemy, foreign and domestic.

Honestly the logistical hurdle of bringing back all of those men (let alone their equipment) is so extreme that I think it would completely break down before they ship a fraction of either. Look at how much of a disaster the Evacuation of Kabul was, and the Taliban weren't even shooting at US troops.
Plus you would have the issue of overseas Unified Combatant Commands potentially choosing to disregard the orders of the sitting President if they start to believe his rule is no longer legitimate.
