the fuel evaporates (not as bad a zippo but still noticeably; if you're not using it every day you're gonna need to refill before you use it), and the cap-striker-wheel rivet goes such that it no longer strikes. the flints are also a b***h to change. a clipper will outlast one. also the wick needs a specialist tool to trim otherwise it ends up too long and the windproof aspect completely fails (its not great as it is).
>the cap-striker-wheel rivet goes such that it no longer strikes
This happens with the cheap chinese clones, maybe the windmill edition is better.
Had a genuine one for years now and no problems
Theres some decent videos on YouTube explaining how to spot fake ones that I used years ago when I bought mine.
As an aside the fuel retention in mine is awesome. It will hold it for weeks, versus my Zippo losing it in maybe a week or so.
Fortunately zippo finally decided to make a gasket for the fricking things. It came out like a year after the the butane and electric inserts.i uses to use wax
You just posted it. I love mine. The candle lighter feature is great for lighting kindling under a campfire bundle. I also use it for lighting candles around the house.
It's got great wind resistance too.
Mine have served well for many years, I have the standard one and the version with the wind screen. Yeah fuel still evaporates, and a Bic is definitely more logical a choice, but it's better than any zippo I've had. Holds fuel for longer and lights better in the wind. Also, I don't think the flint is a b***h to change. It's toolless unlike the zippo.
>fren bought me a beautiful Colibri lighter >it stops working >has gas in it, sparks fine, just no flame >first thing you see when googling "lighter repair" is "PLEASE stop asking us to fix Colibris, the company closed up shop overnight, no replacement parts exist."
>pink mini-Bic >fits easily and discreetly in pocket >bright pink color stands out if dropped in grass, dirt, brush, snow, etc. >nobody wants to pocket your lighter because it's a girly little pink lighter.
It is truly the epitome of personal combustion devices.
White is good for easily seeing the remaining fuel, but I like bright colors like pink, and orange to make them easier to find when dropped/misplaced. I always remove the safety tab as well. I carry a Gerber Clutch multitool, and the small flathead screwdriver on the bottom is the perfect tool for lifting the safety up so you can grab it with the pliers to yank it out.
I carry an old zippo thats missing most of its finish. Whenever it gets low on gas I siphon from my truck and top it off. Wicks are good for a few years, and flints last months on end (if used correctly). Everything is easily and cheaply replacable too. Plus it gives cool guy points when you light a cig with a zippo. For backups I keep some matches I get for free from gas stations.
smoking is for gays
T.
What if you just want to burn your nutsack hairs off?
Weapons?
if the watch threads are allowed, this is allowed. Even if I think both should be elsewhere
EDC - Bic
Camping - Zippo, Bic backup, starting to love this USB electric cheapo from China.
>accurate, coordinated timing
>fire, the technology that made Mankind
These are very much weapons related.
Someone hasn't seen Ed Calderon's Soplete collaboration with Black Triangle.
This is a WW1 derived lighter made for trench conditions.
Tldr; go back to plebbit.
a bic

best lighter is a nimrod
look it up and thank me later
I know where this is going
But I'll do it anyway
>its actually a lighter
Holy shit

Clipper
The quality of them has taken a nosedive. They used to be great
That looks gay
Accept no imitations.
Zippo with a butane torch insert is king.
Bic. It’s the Glock of lighters. Proven, reliable, lightweight, and effective. It’s even the design that’s widely copied by cheap imitators
Plus they have a way better trigger than Glocks.
Ice noticed they blow out easily in even very minor wind compared to even those trash gas station adjustable flame lighters.

I always get the white bic. Even if I have to tear off the gay wrappers for one. Also safety always off.

>zippo makes butane inserts now
Neat but I can't find my fricking 30yr old zippo because it's been so long since I gave up on it leaking in my pocket.
Zippo with Butane insert or Clipper.
