Technically it's super easy. U give that thing camera plus lidar and then you tell him what colors and lenght/height ratios make what kind of object probable and tell him what to do when he encounters either in a specific flight phase with specific energy left.
It's just a matter of putting in the data. The technic is long there and affordable, even for disposable drones

They realized that they're so fragile, a single laser turret that has equivalent targeting software will be able to take out one drone in less than five seconds.
So you'd need like 30 laser turrets to take out a swarm of 10,000 drone in five minutes.
What is a laser turret
the U.S. actually fields lasers capable of cutting through incoming missiles on their ships. the only real challenge is the mechanical limitations of the turret itself; it still has to turn.
this is the reason hypersonic missiles are so heavily fellated by Russsia and it's allies (and china). Their claimed speed is too fast for defenses to step in and prevent a direct hit.
the current generation of hypersonics have proven to not live up to they hype thanks to the patriot missile system.

Battery tech is still not there yet.
Really tiny drone with enough payload needs still enough of a battery to fly to it's target.
The longer the distance, the bigger the battery, the bigger the drone.
Now we can make those mini drones but only of a type that are deployed by a plane or missiles in altitude and they can "glide/fall" towards target using litte battery giving them a lot more range.
Also if the drones and explosion are really tiny they can be easily defeated by stuff like mosquito nets or swatting them with a tree branch fell of leaves at them or any type of light structure.
Also the smaller the drone the more likely it will rely on some data link for processing data as it would be unlikely to have the sufficient computing capacity onboard (as of today). Which means more exposed to jamming.
However the smaller DJI are already very small.
