I see all kinds of talk about needing a WML to ID or even see who you're shooting, compensators blinding you in the dark, and other issues, but where the frick are people shooting that these issues even come up? How are you worried about getting blinded by a compensator while using a frickoff bright WML? Is shooting in rooms painted with vantablack that will absorb almost all the light from a WML, forcing you to use your dark adapted vision that would be affected by a compensator a concern for people or something?
someone's never hunted vampires and it shows
sounds like a skinwalker wrote this to stop me from dropping 14k on these NVG's I found on Ebay
Way overpriced, head over to /NVG/ and ask for direction
Next time you wake up in the middle of the night, go walk around without the lights on. Specifically, pause at the doorway leading into your bathroom before you flip the light switch.
So when someone breaks in and you're shining a frickoff bright WML around, you still think having a compensator on your gun is still somehow going to interfere with your ability to see?
No, I don't like comps because they're pointless on most guns they're put on. "oh boy I really need to drive this semi-auto 5.56 rifle into the dirt because I can't handle the punishing muzzle rise" said no one ever who has any experience shooting.

said no one who has ever shot a competition
I agree outside of competition though
Competition shooting guns are the gayest things on earth.

so does everyone get uncomfortable by this?
That's part of being human. The point of the exercise is to show you that interior spaces get pitch black, not to let your imagination run wild. Don't do that.
>The point of the exercise is to show you that interior spaces get pitch black
Do people not sleep like this? Are there actual adults who have nightlights?
You might have a street light that shines into your windows or the moon might be out. Your eyes can do a lot with even that little light.
I had a streetlight that shone into my window, so I bought big heavy blackout curtains. Problem solved. Sleep time is a NO PHOTON ZONE.
I wouldn't worry about it.
I shit in the dark
>he doesn't enjoy the cozy embrace of the darkness as he pees
Besides that, do you people seriously not know how to use your eyes at night, ie not look directly at what you're trying to look at and keep your eyes moving?
Y'all need to try out bedtime diapers. You don't even have to leave the comfiness of your bed to go to the bathroom.
That's fricking disgusting. I had to deal with that with my grandfather and I wouldn't wish it on an enemy.
I go to the bathroom in the dark O_O
>hmmmm would someone break onto the property at night
White light minmaxing is mostly stupid, basically any high quality 500+ lumen light will work well enough where lights actually get used (indoors). If you're wanting something to shoot with at night NVGs or thermals are vastly superior.
you're absolutely right, but I'm a little lost by the whole night vision trend right now.
sure whatever, you think you may need to fight off the USG or other NV-equipped enemies, but I think a lot of that threat model is kinda moronic and seeing people throw many thousands of dollars at it seems extremely short sighted
For me, I own it because of the 2nd Amendment, a well regulated militia must have access to modern technology and having used it in the Army, I know its potency. That and shooting things out in the desert at night is super fun.
oh yeah it looks awesome, I'd buy it if I could afford it and everything, its just not a priority for me compared to other expensive stuff.
>but I think a lot of that threat model is kinda moronic and seeing people throw many thousands of dollars at it seems extremely short sighted
Don't even bother with those people. The worst part is when people like that point to the Taliban and Iraqi insurgents as examples of success , but don't realize that both of those groups would regularly discard their guns and gear after an ambush even if it meant risking losing them permanently.
The Taliban were highly successful at using thermals and other tech against the ANA.
You're not going to shoot what you can't see. Dunno if you've noticed, but half of all time we terrestrials experience is NIGHT time, nevermind indoors without lighting, nevermind criminals using nighttime hours the most for their subhuman activities. Baseline WMLs don't have to be 500+ lumens, TLR-6 or a bullshit 150 lumen Monstro or whatever they're called is more than enough for night-time home defense. You'll regret popping on 1k lumen light indoors from pitch blackness. Friend of mine seems to think WMLs are useless when you can just off-hand a flashlight, have fun not having a free hand for doorhandles, switches, reloads or other weapon handling etc.
Most people discussing these things have literally never once in their entire life been outside at night.
I have a WML for power outages when inside my house is at it's darkest and so anyone I have to aim at sees a giant light blob instead of me. I'll probably still be able to see a well enough because I've got really good natural night vision but it's nice to know I have a portable sun on my weapon that can light up the whole room and immediately blind any dumb bastard that broke in.
how dumb or urban are you? in the countryside, when it's night and you turn the lights out, your only source of light are the moon and stars, if there isn't much moon or it's cloudy then you literally can't see your hand in front of your face. same thing is true in the city if something happens to the power, in which case you're *really* likely to need the firepower and target id because of all the melanin enhanced social justice warriors running around redistributing the city's wealth.
>What exact kind of advanced darkness do people plan on shooting in anyhow?
