Can only say for an explosion in a burning building: a burst of heat while it feels like a wet bag of flour hits you hard. Afterwards it smells and taste weird. Turns out it's the burnt hair, eyebrows and hair in your nose.
I've had 1 shotgun primer go off in my face and one 9mm OOB while looking into the ejection port. Doesent compare to a dedicated explosive, but would not recommend
