2nd LT - mogged by PSG
1st LT - mogged by CPT
CPT - finally, I'm doing my job! -t. unwary O3
    MAJ - starts balding
LTCOL - actually starts doing their job
COL - where the men who brownnosed instead of doing their jobs go
    1star - thinks he's made it
    2star - thinks he'll make it to 3
3star - actually made it, at the low low price of his soul
4star - pretends to act dignified for the visiting politicians while the 2 stars get the job done

We don't need junior officers, they can all frick off; everything junior officers do/manage should just be handed over to senior NCOs.

but making the NCOs clean up after the junior officers is how you train new senior NCOs

What's a better use of time?
    1. wallowing for 4 years in peacetime military near some CONUS high-crime shithole base in exchange for a few months of combat training, networking with a bunch of dudes whose biggest achievement is their dip collection and their constant personal drama
    2. Getting a small local business off the ground using family loans, building a worthwhile network with others in your hometown, and bringing jobs back into your community

Military seems like an inferior time investment. Almost like an option for the uncreative.

Officers - I made the decisions and sign paperwork, I also do a lot of b***hwork for the officer above me. Lots of office politicizing and drama.
NCOs - I am the representative of the junior enlisted under my leadership, while also being their guide and mentor. If senior, good chance I'm incredibly disillusioned with multiple divorces.
Warrants - Lol, I'm certified and do nothing but my job. It's fricking awesome. (Aviation not included).

You're not wrong but at the same time it's a really important job. Someone's gotta play politics to get the state to actually issue procurement for your forces, otherwise you get a Russia situation.

Bad move. Butter bars vs E-4 Mafia. LT is going to end up "losing" his NVG's and stuff missing out of the CONEX that he signed for.

It's funny, watching war movies growing up they always wanted to target the officer. Like everything falls apart. Reality after joining was it isn't the 1600s anymore, if someone wastes the LT the effectiveness of the platoon has not diminished at all. Taking out the platoon sergeant or another competent NCO is much worse.

Believe it or not, but lieutenants used to be even more disposable than they are today. What role was a butterbar supposed to fill when the smallest unit capable of independent movement on the battlefield was the company?

  21. 4 months ago
    Anonymous

Abstraction, administration, resource management and allocation.

An enlistedman that is too busy thinking about what the next move must be is not focused on his actual role, which is whatever the frick he was told to do and do well.

An officer that is micromanaging and getting far too involved in the technical side of operations is not doing his job well either. He should not pretend he knows how to operate all this equipment as well as the tards. The tard knows his job like his dick.

The O knows the desired end result, and all of the factors impacting it. He is detached, but present. The E knows what the result he should be aiming for is, and the process of getting there.

In reality nobody even knows what the frick their job really is and everyone bends it to what it personally signifies for them. Everyone has a different idea of what being in their role means to them, and as such will perform differently under different conditions.

Gotta have some place for the yiffs to go instead of shooting up a school, you think intel agencies can pull an iran contra and arm all the yiffs to shoot up their shools ? It's an out dated convention to enforce social norms for sociopaths when they use to do something useful instead of run for politician in charge of the military and had to run a military and not qualify for the military itself.
