Monolith: Chechnya fighters

This is just moronic and ignorant. Duty are implicitly Ukrainian-backed, the mercenaries use western weapons and gear almost exclusively and half of them speak with German accents. The current conflict has almost no bearing on the stalker setting, since its an IP dating from a time when the Ukrainian government was largely pro-Russian; so trying to divide factions into a pro/anti Russia paradigm just isn't going to work. Only faction that would qualify is freedom because they're explicitly western backed and want open (western) access to the zone, the mercenaries are certainly supplied by the west but they're private actors and there's no indication that they have any political affiliation.
Kill bandits. Behead bandits. Roundhouse kick a bandit into the concrete. Slam dunk a bandit's pseudodog into the trashcan. Crucify filthy black leather coats. Defecate in a bandits food. He's right though. Compared to the first game, Fallout 2 is as if they got the writers of big bang theory or family guy. Constant referential humor, which existed in the first game but is downright suffocating in 2. Fallout 2 is better remembered and more accessible because its got dramatically more content and is overall cleaner to play, but Avellone is absolutely justified in disregarding the cornball sequel when it comes to lore contradictions.
I am still mad that they never added back the shotgun from fallout 1 and 2. Its such a cool design and the burst fire mode absolutly ass rapes everything, but instead they keep added moronic looking shotguns like the one in 3 and 4.
There is a mod for it in NV(although I think it's just semi-auto I don't remember). Would like to see someone attempt to put it into 4 with all the customization options that game could allow since someone did that for Bozar and the Rangemaster.

Speaking of 4, can you recommend any good power armor skin mods? I just want a skin that makes the T-51b look more like in the first 2 games, where it had a dark green for the chest and shoulder pads. I hate how the default look gives it a rusty finish that you cannot remove.

Thanks brother. One more question though, how do you get nice screen shots like that? Kinda like theater mode back in Halo. Is the in the base game or is that also a mod?
>when you're talking to joshua graham about each tribe having a signature weapons and he mentions that the pistol is one designed by a member of his
It's a nice detail.
>this is also why FNV has the genercized plasma defender, plasma caster, and so on
I think this is more an issue of dealing with the legal parts of putting actual company names in the game.
I dont think its a real problem, even in the newest terminator 1&2 rereleases the plasma rifles are still by westinghouse, and they never paid a cent. Same deal with the Caterpillar mech in Aliens. And I would say a Hollywood blockbuster is a much more prominent example than an item description in a game.
>dont think its a real problem
It is when the franchise becomes somewhat popular, its why Project Aces can't remaster AC 4 5 and Zero, they need licensing agreements for the aircraft.
It's not really about paying it's more about not getting sued. Even if nothing happens many companies prefer just not to tempt fate just in case. For Interplay they probably didn't care but Bethesda lawyers were probably more cautious hence not even using the branding for weapons already given it such as the colt 6520 not even being given the name in fallout 4's classic 10mm pistol pack.
You know I really want to know what pre-war military armament looked like. Since we have at least three different assault rifles in use by the military not to mention laser weapons were having field runs.
Fallout 1 implied that combat armor + AK112 was being phased out and handed out to nat guard while the army used T-51b and laser/plasma
Fallout 2 and the fallout bibles retconned it a bit so that combat armor and AK-112 was still a major part of the army, with T-51b and an unspecified earlier model being concentrated into mechanised divisions
3/NV went with 2s interpretation with a bit of difference
3 claimed it was combat armor + R91, and clarified that the older model of power armor was T-45d
NV also said that the plasma caster was old and outdated and replaced by the urban plasma rifle, and that modern-ish assault carbine and marksman carbine were available to special forces
3 and NV stated that laser weapons were fairly widespread pre-war, rarer than ballistics but still accessible
Plasma was the rare one
While 1 and 2 had lasers be so absurdly rare outside of the army that they took on a mythic status post-war
>While 1 and 2 had lasers be so absurdly rare outside of the army that they took on a mythic status post-war
Which is funny because the one in the first game is mentioned as a civilian model that is not as strong as the military models. I say it's a shame the fallout 3 laser pistol is pretty weak because you could have had an interesting mix if you had civilian laser weapons and military grade laser weapons. It also makes me wonder how laser people would be regarded in the gun communities.

it is weird that the wattz 1000 was never re-introduced in FNV, even though they re-added the original plasma gun as the plasma caster and tweaked to be a heavy weapon
there wasnt any legal issues, since the wattz company is purely fictional
and it would have made the laser pistol better in comparison, the laser pistol was actually decent in 3, NV nerfed it to the ground because it was intended to be given to you at the start of the game
>t also makes me wonder how laser people would be regarded in the gun communities.
they would probably be the most insufferable people of all time as they admire their beautiful weapon and making sure everyone at the range knows how they use photons instead of lead

>and it would have made the laser pistol better in comparison, the laser pistol was actually decent in 3, NV nerfed it to the ground because it was intended to be given to you at the start of the game
Exactly you could have a scaling of laser weapons going from wattz 1000 to the AEP7 pistol to the AER9 rifle and ending with the Wattz 2000 laser rifle. Then you get the original and the new like they did with plasma. I'd imagine it was probably a time issue and they decided the plasma weapons were more worth porting over.

You know I really want to know what pre-war military armament looked like. Since we have at least three different assault rifles in use by the military not to mention laser weapons were having field runs.
One really nice thing about the Fallout games is that while the official lore has laser / plasma weapons being used by militaries within 20 years of WWIII, the post-apocalyptic and post-post-apocalyptic worlds of the Fallout games are primarily run with gunpowder weapons because the advanced civilization requirements for plasma / lasers haven't been rebuilt at scale.
NCR gets it done with M16s; Caesar gets it done with bludgeons and traditional rifles.

Funny enough really the best use for them after the war is really in the hand of lone individuals. A military like the NCR can't really afford large sums of laser rifles. But one person with the right know how could get by with one. I'd imagine the stats for energy weapons are half just knowing how to keep the 200 year old mess of circuitry and crystalline lenses working properly and half knowing how to aim the projectiles.
>NV also said that the plasma caster was old and outdated and replaced by the urban plasma rifle, and that modern-ish assault carbine and marksman carbine were available to special forces
Boarder guards had some AR10 chambered in 12.7 according to honest hearts.
It's highly possible they were in a complete panic. Many countries when shit hits the fan super-hard encounter similar cases. Just look at how many weapons Nazi Germany tastily adopted like the STGs while they were getting raped from many directions. Thus with pre-war America having this Chinese red scare and being more desperate than their relative war success would suggest, shit like this happens.
It would fit with all the lore about a ton of companies doing military contractor work. Odds are gun manufacturers were getting tons of competing contracts.
Anonymous
Plus with pre-War America being an authoritarian corporatist state you just know that every company had some official in their pocket handing out contracts like candy. It even helps Fallout 4's indication that pipe weapons were common pre-War; between companies focusing on government contracts, hyperinflation, and general paranoia and panic, the easiest and cheapest way to stay armed was a zip gun.
its sad to say but its probably the fallout 4 combat rifle
the R91 was explicitly called national guard fodder and its only common in washington DC due to large number of nat guard being deployed to keep order just before the bombs fell
while the AK-112 is described as "out of use" by its flavor text, so its prevalence post-war is almost certainly because people looted national guard depots or was common on the civilian market, and possibly because it was just easy to refurbish with primitive gunsmithing tools
the fallout 4 assault rifle is actually referred to as "machine gun" in the internal files and has .50cal written on the side, so despite the name its clearly a heavy weapon intended for use with power armor
same story behind the FNV varmint rifle, which was originally in .22 before it was changed to 5.56 at the last minute because they felt that all .22 weapons should be suppressed

I'd say you'd have a good argument to make for the service rifle mainly because the Survivalist Rifle was used by an actual military man. But he was specifically a boarder guard so it could be a more special thing.
Anonymous
service rifle never really had any good backstory other than that they were pre-war guns that the gun runners refurbished
though it would be weird if the standard firearm was a semi-auto weapon when full-auto weapons like the AK and R91 were already considered aging
is probably just another weapon in their back catalog pulled out to equip some border guards
I know IRL, rocking a Bolt action rifle as your main fighting weapon in the post apoc is a bad Idea, but eith vats, I'd reck almost everything I came across. If I got swarmed, I'd switch to a browning high power.
A light shining in darkness is great. I really like the metallic clang it does when fired suppressed (same reason I like fallout 3 guns, they actually sound like they're made of metal).
But my absolute favorite weapon has to be lead pipe, the hit sound and the gibbing are just too damn satisfying.

Thanks brother. One more question though, how do you get nice screen shots like that? Kinda like theater mode back in Halo. Is the in the base game or is that also a mod?
Not sure how it was the pic for the mod.

That is simply because John Moses Browning and the 1911 is present in every timeline.
>when you're talking to joshua graham about each tribe having a signature weapons and he mentions that the pistol is one designed by a member of his
It's a nice detail.
>this is also why FNV has the genercized plasma defender, plasma caster, and so on
I think this is more an issue of dealing with the legal parts of putting actual company names in the game.
But he was specifically a boarder guard so it could be a more special thing.
service rifle never really had any good backstory other than that they were pre-war guns that the gun runners refurbished
though it would be weird if the standard firearm was a semi-auto weapon when full-auto weapons like the AK and R91 were already considered aging
is probably just another weapon in their back catalog pulled out to equip some border guards
That's an unholy amount of Barnes and Noble books.
>What do you guys equate 5mm to in real life?

Probably a barrel burner
Either 5.7x28mm or something similar to it
MFC cluster. Something viscerally satisfying about slinging a bouquet of improvised grenades. Too bad explosives in NV can be so jank.
I know IRL, rocking a Bolt action rifle as your main fighting weapon in the post apoc is a bad Idea, but eith vats, I'd reck almost everything I came across. If I got swarmed, I'd switch to a browning high power.

If you let a cazador get that close, you're already dead. frick the dudes at Big MT for making those things, wasteland life is hard enough.
Shotguns and SMGs are great for cazadors.
Enclave is highly based. Absolute boss as frick power armor.
Great thread
A light shining in darkness is great. I really like the metallic clang it does when fired suppressed (same reason I like fallout 3 guns, they actually sound like they're made of metal).
But my absolute favorite weapon has to be lead pipe, the hit sound and the gibbing are just too damn satisfying.
>no Red Lucy
Hmm...
I wonder how would her relationship with Courier develop as they both grow older and he, the Overlord of Strip, would plan moving to Big MT
