If you look at the idea of destroying or removing Confederate monuments, no one even thought about it until about 2015, intensifying in 2017 after Charlottesville and even more so in 2020 after George Floyd's death. Current attitudes and trends like "Sherman posters" are shaped entirely by post-2015 social-media conditioning.
Sherman posters are funny because you can just tell them you liked when he did the same thing in the Indian Wars. If you're gonna celebrate total war you'll have to be okay with a little genocide.

Unless the south made huge leaps in commodities and trade AND the land/business owners paid some 30 to 50% to even 70% in taxes, the Confederacy would have been a 3rd world nation by the 1900's.
