That being said, I also hope he continues this procurement series, i would be interested to hear how special interests and political incentives play a part. Though I think I have a pretty good idea how politics incentive will go. superconducting super collider except it's the military this time.

It is a reasonably good gun for the Japanese, but it is also absolutely awesome looking, and I congratulate you on your good taste.
I thought the point was the unnecessary addition of extra things increasing cost, like a bayonet on a heavy machine gun
That's how I understood it while in most cases adding a bayonet won't lead to a noticeable cost overrun it also doesn't help at all for doing machine gun things. Probably more harmful with the added weight, changed balance and increased length. All classic problems if idea guys interfere with projects.

Before this video i never really thought idea guys were dangerous. Of course, I have dealt with "wouldn't it be cool if" in my life and normally we all would say yeah and leave it at that. I guess its different when you have vast amounts of money to play with and no one to reign you in.
