Why does Perun make /k/ seethe so much? It doesn't even seem to be the ziggers. Are all the other less popular and less talented military youtubes regular /k/ shit posters who can't help but seethe with jealousy?

he absolutely does not "make /k/ seethe", and your reply is part of the trashpost life cycle of these threads, but to provide the reply you aren't actually interested in: the main complaint from real people who aren't illiterates or z cheerleaders is just that he's boring and says things they already know.

      what an absolute fricking idiot
      >proposes the US has no long range arty and other countries do simply because the US didn't provide Ukraine with ATACMS.
Did this idiot ever think they weren't provided because the US giving stuff to Ukraine that could hit inside Russia would greatly escalate the war, possibly into WW3?

not even pretending to watch past the opening seconds of the video is very poor bait.

He's a few years late on this. It would've been timely years back when ERCA began development and PrSM was starting.

that's his thing. he reads backgrounders from thinktanks, catches up on current programmatic status of some ongoing shit, and slaps some texts on slides about it. if you read wonk shit already, you can just skip to his source list and pick something to skim.

Perun is very literally the worst commentator on the war. He’s the equivalent of armchair warlord but pro-ukrainian. I’m much more of a fan of covert cabal seeing as he’s more honest about the situation and doesn’t try to sugar coat anything due to a bias like Perun.

No, it's most certainly the vatniks. They hate him because they can't really refute his talking points with their usual tactics so they go straight to attacking character, like trying to claim the fact he even has gaming content on his channel somehow completely discredits all the evidence-based information he's presenting.

I must say I was surprised at how far behind we are in the ground base launcher department. I thought we were number one and everything military wise, and now I hear that basically everyone else has better guns than us because we are stuck on .39 munitions. I hope now that that treaty is expired that the military will develop guns to regain that number one position in this area.

        >not knowing about ERCA and how it transforms every 155mm cannon to 70km range just by changing the tube and propellant
Correct, I don't know about that. Must be very expensive we are not putting that in everything.

depends on how you formulate "behind"ness in a niche that largely isn't anticipated by the heads of shitfrickery to be valid in the context of the next war(s) they intend to fight. asia/pacific theatre involves stupid distances between landmasses that heavily favour longer-range fires than you're gonna get from any land-based launcher while retaining passable mobility.

even despite the US kicking the can down the road on ground-based launchers, it still took until a few months ago for the china notification requirement to kick in – the rule that congress stipulated for stratcom, giving them a duty to notify when they assess that china has reached either nook warhead or launcher parity with the US.

china finally hit that benchmark by going turbo-mode with ICBM siloes and even then, it took them like two straight decades of nonstop built-out, slaving away at a problem the US regarded as history. US hadn't even made a nuke since the end of the cold war.

        [...]
someone else mentioned covert cabal. that's not unreasonable in the context of ukraine shit. but overall, you can't expect an alternative to a niche that only arose as the result of a global event. certain frickhuge phenomena like covid and ukraine war bring about new demand for wonk/nerd/direct-to-consumer researcher content in digestible form. i mean, take a look at video material from RUSI, ISW, CSIS, etc. and tell me you want to watch that on youtube. answer's probably no.

        >depends on how you formulate "behind"ness
Any area that America has to rely upon other countries or its allies to fill a need that it is unable to do itself. For example, I considered NASA to be behind because for the longest Time we were relying upon Russian rockets to get into space rather than our own, and that only changed relatively recently thanks to the SLS. Even if it's already massively over budget and being outperformed by SpaceX, at least we no longer have to rely upon not American rockets to reach space.

        >answer's probably no.
Which is exactly my point. Non ziggers who harp on Perun keep claiming it's all common knowledge to them. So when a tourist normie newbie like myself goes "Oh, I'm interested in learning more about this subject, can you provide these better alternative sources, please?" they fall silent or bring up completely unrelated channels. Some autists even try to bring up the academic source material, as if that's going to draw in a lot nomie attention. Hence my creeping suspicion all these self proclaimed "expert"s are just jealous spergs who are seething because they didn't come up with Perun's idea themselves.

Honestly I would say that Perun is unique, if not due to his former experience in logistics then his temperament. I believe his temperament and his method of waiting and shifting through all the available evidence is what made him as successful as he has been. If someone else was as qualified as him or even more so, but had a different temperament and approach I do not think they would have found the same success that Perun has had.

Actually the PHL-16/191's 370mm rockets have a range of 300km and the 750mm TBM's are 500km, since they're based off Israeli tech: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynx_(multiple_rocket_launcher)

So /k/, with all the information in mind. Do you think that the army should continue trying to get extremely long range weapons? Or do you think that they should rely on the Air Force for that kind of range?

So you completely missed the point he was making where an artillery piece having better long range performance didn't make it automatically better than artillery with shorter range but better precision.

I fully understood, my point stands. It's a moronic comparison. Especially since he's objectively wrong in that the M1 doesn't 'comfortably outrange' the L39 series of 155mm cannons, particularly when comparing RAP. The fact that he had to try to go with generic clickbait in the title doesn't bode well for the video.

In fairness, [...] is probably Russian or a Russian sympathizer, so his IQ is 80 at most.
