    No hot showers

Definitely not, but make sure you don't use the hot taps for two to three weeks after you turn it off. After this you can go ahead and use the hot taps for drinking and showers, just keep in mind it won't actually be hot.

Sanitation. Stuff likes to grow in warm places so you have to let it all cool off then let everything die

Thanks for reminding me to turn down the dial on mine anon. What a waste, even if it’s nat gas not electric. You know, if electric everything is so much better, why do electric water heaters suck and cost way more than nat gas ones?

There are many other ways to save $40 a month that don't involve compromising comfort. You could also just stop being poor.

What third-world shithole do you live in? Water heater runs me ~$6USD/mo in Natural Gas.

Literally any country more developed than burgerland has more expensive electricity. Probably one of the reasons they invest more in infrastructure and efficiency.
Usually it's third-world shitholes that have cheap, unreliable electricity.

washing machines and dishwashers need hot water to preform efficiently. try flushing it out and check the elements and anode rod. or how about just being more aware of how much hot water you use?

      >Dishwashers
Washing dishes by hand comes out better than the dishwasher can accomplish.
      >Washing Machines
The wash cycle of a washer machine can be done by hand and only takes ten minutes.
You're saving 500ish dollars by not buying these appliances.

But I waste more than $500 of my time doing these tasks by hand.

          Anonymous

time to wash dishes by hand = 10 min
          dishes frequency = 1 / day = 30 / month
time to wash laundry by hand = 10 min
          laundry frequency = 1 / week = 4 / month
          total time = 4*10 + 30*10 = 340 min / month = 5.66 hr / month
          >6 hours of my time is worth $500

m8 they're like $1000-2500 for gas and literally 500-1000 bucks for an electric, the frick you talking about

          Anonymous

you need significantly more amps for electric tankless than a tank
you need a bigger gas line for gas tankless than tank
you need an intake vent for gas tankless
a gas tankless has to vent directly outside, you cant use your chimney like you can with a tank
all these costs in labor and material add up quick
          fricking moron

Turn it on 15 minutes before you want hot water.

If it is electric, put a timer on it so it comes on about an hour a day total, you will save a bunch of juice.

  11. 11 months ago

Spend a few hours and not much money lagging the heater and pipes. Then turn the tank temperature down. Then your monthly bill is gonna be 50-60% of what it was

What kind of third world shithole thread is this? There's no way your heater is costing $40 a month. It's less than $200 for an entire year for me at 140f. You either live in a shithole country or some destopian europoor country.
