It does have a safety tho; there's a half-wiener position you can lower the hammer onto.

Mag safety too. At least my yugo does.

Carrying with a chambered round but the mag removed as to engage the safety is utterly esoteric behavior but I approve.

    >see person I need to shoot
    >draw pistol without chambered round
    >awkward to draw gun and rack slide
    >person is able to grab my arm
    >no longer able to chamber a round
    >other guy gets a free gun
Israeli carry is a fricking stupid idea unless the person attacking you gives you time to ready your pistol. As a side note you won’t be in a good shooting stance either, and you may not be able to get a perfect grip on your gun. So if you have a gun that doesn’t work well in those conditions you would want to reconsider.

Israeli carry made sense in a time with no or unreliable safeties
That's why revolvers were more popular back then

        Anonymous

I question the usefulness of the Glock-style trigger safeties that have become so popular as compared to no safety at all.

          Anonymous

The point is they are drop safe. As long as you have trigger discipline and a quality holster the gun is safe.

It's okay unless you put some hair trigger in it, which everyone ends up doing

That's why I only carry my 45. Keep that shit wienered and locked, and I don't have any worries with the thumb safety on even with my gut depressing the grip safety. 25 years it's been pointed at my nuts and I'm still good to shoot loads from both my boys at a moments notice. Shooting your nuts off is probably a selling point to Glocktrannies.

Striker fired pistols have a vulnerability that requires them to have the dingus to be drop safe due to the linear motion of the striker. The hammer fired guns don't which is why they've been drop safe for 100 years with no trigger dingus. For all intents and purposes besides getting around legalese import restrictions many modern striker fired pistols don't have a safety.

            Anonymous

A grip safety is considerably less obnoxious imo. I’ve got two non glock striker guns, one with an manual safety and one with a manual safety, grip safety, and mag safety for some reason and both totally prevent the striker from being dropped when at least one is engaged.

          Anonymous

There's two separate factors that make a Glock trigger "safe".

The striker isn't fully set back, that's why the trigger is long almost like a DA one. It's no more dangerous than a loaded revolver.

In addition to the longer trigger pull, the trigger safety itself protects the trigger from moving due to inertia from dropping, as the smaller plastic leaver is too light to overcome the spring. It also protects the trigger from being depressed by something partially rubbing against the side of the trigger such as clothing.

And this is why Glock triggers feels like shit.

            Anonymous

why does glock-shit need a trigger safety if a revolver doesn't?

Israeli carry was a response to the fact that the IDF had a myriad of pistols in inventory- Hi Powers, P-38's, 1911's, Tokarevs, various walthers and browning. The best way to economically train a conscript force like the IDF was loaded mag empty chamber, safety off - draw, rack while drawing, shoot.
It reduced pistol training to the most basic form and stopped people from shooting themselves

      >need to shoot someone within the next 500 ms or I'm dead
      or

One of those is significantly more likely to happen.

My M&P2 had no safety on it either, yes you are expected to simply not load or at least not rack the gun until you need it

      Anonymous

No, it has a trigger safety like a Glock, and you can get an M&P with a thumb safety, but it's not necessary.

  10. 3 weeks ago
    Anonymous

This makes a lot of sense actually, carrying wienered and locked is only important when you're scared of being shot by Black folk at any moment and you're also scared about getting your ass reamed out by pigs if you draw too early. In literally any other scenario, you could preemptively draw and rack your pistol upon entering an unsafe area or situation.

Jesus dude dont live your life afraid of NDs, you get used to them.

    First time
    >At friends apartment at college.
    >Just bought my first pistol from a gun show (I was 18)
    >Drinking with friends
    >Show them my new Jericho
    >Try to manually dewiener
    >Thumb slips on hammer, ND into celling Upstairs neighbors too high and drunk (underage and illegal drugs) to call the police.

    Second time
    >At range
    >Showing friend pistol
    >Think gun is unloaded
    >Point at ground show him how to wrack and pull the trigger.
    >Forgot loaded mag in
    >Shoot between his feet

    Third time
    >At parents house.
    >Just bought a sig from a guy
    >Get home
    >Try swapping slides with another sig I had
    >Forgot the other sig slide was chambered.
    >Pull trigger
    >Shoot parents wall

    Fourth time
    >At my new house
    >Playing with a friend's 5.56 AK
    >Release bolt
    >Slam fires round into ground

    Fifth time
    >Showing a friend how to use it
    >No idea how but a round got chambered
    >Show him how the trigger works
    >Pull trigger
    >Shoots round into floor in the same place as before

    Sixth time
    >Thought maybe the house was haunted
    >Grab a sig
    >Physically clear it, (racked the slide 3 times) with no magazine in pull trigger at the same hole
    >Round goes off

    Seventh time
    >Friend brings over a used
    >Glock wants me to look over it
    >I grab it and pull the trigger without clearing it
    >Didn't even realize the thing was loaded.

    Eighth time
    >Friend brings over his transferable Mac 10
    >I had no idea how open bolt guns worked.
    >He's showing it off to me I put a loaded mag it and decided to try and release the bolt (I thought it shot from a closed bolt)
    >Pulled the trigger for some reason
    >Shot 3 rounds into my wall

Overall you shouldn't feel too bad about NDs. It's part of owning guns, and you should get used to them.
