That might not have hurt at all.
I've had dates that left me with bigger marks.

Sky diving will cause that kind of surface bruising too, the shock of straps going tight at terminal velocity will do that and you won't even notice it at the time and it doesn't hurt afterwards. I'd imagine getting shot in the plates is much the same, you're not going to notice it at the time because of adrenaline and distraction and later, that kind of bruising doesn't swell or hurt really.

Plates are being drawn on and gold plated to essentially thank the saints and god for protecting them. Not to actually glorify the war itself. Rather the fact the wearer survived it.

How much frag did the rest of him get then? Plates (front and back) only cover about 10% of your total surface area, or about 15% of the area available from one side. 2 hits on your plate really implies at least 4 hits on arms, stomach, neck and shoulders. Even assuming your legs were in cover. But maybe he got lucky.

doesn't look like these were anything but shots at the naked plate, probably leaned against a wall. plates worn in a carrier have scrapes/scratches where the plate fragments and dust travel very fast between the layers and scratch the plate surface away from the impact are.

I don't think Ukraine is just going to forget that basically the entire civilised world lined up behind them, took their refugees, stuffed weapons and ammo down their throats, trained their soldiers and sanctioned Russia until it's on the verge of collapse.

Sure they'll be pretty proud of themselves but I'm sure it will be mixed with a lot of gratitude.

Don't forget that a million or more Ukrainian women and children are right now shopping in western countries with allowances paid by local governments and attending schools taught in local languages.
When it's over and they mostly go home, they'll be bringing back connections with the wider world, some will stay as a new Ukrainian diaspora around the west and others will bring back western boyfriends and husbands.

And that's not to talk about membership of NATO and the EU.

Ukraine isn't going to be the enemy of globalism that you imagine, they're going to be the newest member of a club that they fought hard to get into.

I don't think you're always facing face forward in modern conflicts. Or maybe even older ones. Forward scouts might turn around to see where their own forces are to signal information to them. Ideally while in cover or some such of course, but nothing is ever 100%.

Elongated (not round) hole/damage to plate.
Either the projo was tumbling/keyholing, fired at a glancing angle, or most likely was a ricochet having already hit the ground or something else hard before him.
Still would have fricked him up without the plate as it would also tumble in his ribcage
    So, yes, wear the plates.
But, no, it doesn't mean the plate can be relied on to normally stop a 7.62x54mm straight-on.

c**t got lucky, same as those meme GI pixx where the german or jap bullet went into an M1 helmet, curved around the fibre liner and exited at the back - shit happens and sometimes c**ts get lucky, but it doesn't mean every M1 will be rated to stop every 7.92x57mm

You motherfricking moron, a Level IV is built with the EXPRESS TASK of stopping 30-06 M2 AP. 7.62x54r AP is no more of a threat.
And if it were FMJ or LPS, a composite III would stop it just as well.
And you fricking fudd out and assume plates cant stop hits "head-on" when that is basically ALWAYS the scenario for every countries test standard.

Winning a conflict isn’t determined by if you’re better off at the end than the start, it’s determined by wether you achieve your objectives.
Russia’s goal has been expressly “Denazification and demilitarization”, Ukraine’s goal is retaining their territorial integrity.
So far Ukraine is more militarized than ever and they’ve made the entire country Russophobic which is what vatnik subhumans think that Nazism is.
Ukraine is 90% successful in retaining their territorial integrity and are on a net positive gain for like the past year.
It’s pretty clear Ukraine is winning, cope harder with >”Muh birthratez!!”

This is actually a plate doing badly. The bruise is from backface deformation which meant that the 54r was right at the plate's limit. Still, the man probably kept fighting after that.
