"Ukraine's Place is in NATO"

So, if Ukraine ends this war as a NATO member, is the Ukraine-Russian border basically going to be a Korean DMZ situation?

    >Add the poorest country in Europe to NATO just to bring the world closer to WW3
There is absolutely 0 chance Ukraine will realign with Russia. There is no reason to bother letting Ukraine into NATO. They will be a NATO affiliate but never an equal partner.

Who would care? After this war, Russia will cease existing as a single unified country win or lose. China certainly won't give a frick, and the middle east is a continent away.

Yeah what could go wrong with multiple litteral who slavic potatoBlack person countries splitting up the world's largest nuclear stockpile? Splitting up Russia is a dumb decision. The entire war in Ukraine is literally because the Soviet Union split up. Splitting things up is obviously not a net improvement on the region

Doesn't matter when its an inevitability either way.

The soviets fricked themselves, now the russian federation is fricking themselves much the same way. Its the Post-Post-Commie-Apocalypse incoming.

Clearly anyone in the slavic region having any power was a mistake. The soviets were a mistake that we are still paying for as a species. The best solution is not to capitualte to slavic demands, but rather remove slavic abilities to do anything that could affect the rest of the planet or bring them forth from their soviet destitution to be productive members of global society. Russia doesn't want to better itself and so it will crumble, and we will all be better for it.

Russian nukes aren't floating around; they're stored at a limited number of bases. Material proliferation is a bigger risk, as the only people who can effectively maintain nukes are nuclear or near nuke powers themselves and Russia does have a PAL equivalent.

If things are to be believed about all of Russia's posturing with their nuclear stockpiles are are currently nukes stationed in Belarus (If Russia collapsed right now then Belarus just got free nukes) and their nuclear forces are on alert meaning theyve probably dispersed their road mobile launch systems meaning however the breakup goes there could be multiple nukes ending up in different territories should things balkanize

I unironically wouldn't be surprised if they were dispersed right to US glowies who have dispersed them into a nice, safe storage facility.

          >The entire war in Ukraine is literally because the Soviet Union split up.
The Soviet Union isn't invading Germany & France exactly because the Soviet Union split up. Instead Russia fights a smaller war with smaller consequences. Obvious win for Europe; you have brain damage.
Smaller states can't afford to maintain as much of a nuclear stockpile, and are more likely to balkanize and nuke each-other than anywhere else. They also have reasons to affiliate with other powers, i.e. anyone but Moscow, so the net power of the guilty parties is reduced.

Ukraine is poor, wartorn, corrupt, low on the freedom index, almost entirely reliant on others for war materiel and have a long border with Russia that has little in terms of geographic barriers.
They bring very little to the table and put NATO on the hook for rebuilding and supplying them. Finland doesn't have any of the above baggage.

Adding Ukraine doesn’t compromise OTAN security. Security is not a consumable commodity. The concept of “we will band together to defend ourselves against hostile invasion” can’t be spread thin, because even a compromised rush still adds strength to the homosexual.
It’s an additive equation and negative contribution is impossible. France allied with Iceland isn’t more vulnerable than France not so allied, even if Iceland abolished its military.
Even if Ukraine sells all of its military to Thailand to service its debt and enrich its politicians, post-war, a future Russian attack on OTAN in OTAN Ukraine at least provides a place for France and Poland and the US to fight Russia without suffering damage to France, Poland, and the US.
This benefit is an incomparable treasure and not only is it free, but it’s also the very worst case.
In reality, OTAN Ukraine will at minimum provide a force of some tens to hundreds of thousands of soldiers and a great deal of heavy equipment for such a fight, not that such a fight will ever happen, because Puccia will never attack NATO.

Further, OTAN/EU alignment will help Ukraine become more prosperous and less corrupt.

The greatest benefit Ukraine could contribute to NATO is actually the compounded experience of fighting a large scale land war in the modern day using the limited resources against what the US considered the closest thing to a "peer" in military capabilities.

Right now Ukraine is being thaught how to use western equipment. Once the war is over it will be Ukrainians giving presentations on how to use this equipment effectively in combat scenarios against adversaries of NATO.

Anon, they don't actually believe any of that. See the posturing after the initial conquest and annexation of Kherson and then the reaction to losing it.
They harped on for months about "Kherson with Russia forever" then when they got pressed on it for a month or two they simply left. And I know that you're going to say
              >IT'S DIFFERENT!!
but I assure you it is not. It's infinitely more likely that the ukies frick up and simply aren't able to bring about the conditions to retake Crimea or Luhansk or whatever, than the Russians nuking Washington or Kyiv over losing a bunch of territory that nobody ever recognized as Russian.

              >Russia has never fought Finland

They had already started setting up public support for a potential invasion with repeatedly talking about ''nazi past'' and ''unresolved crimes'' which even Soviets somehow had not managed to find. I'm so glad we're in NATO now, because being a small neutral country next to Russia is a code word for being invaded sooner or later.

are you poorly educated, or have you memoryholed the TWO Finno-Russian Wars?
Is it is because Russia soundly lost both of them?

The greatest benefit Ukraine could contribute to NATO is actually the compounded experience of fighting a large scale land war in the modern day using the limited resources against what the US considered the closest thing to a "peer" in military capabilities.

Right now Ukraine is being thaught how to use western equipment. Once the war is over it will be Ukrainians giving presentations on how to use this equipment effectively in combat scenarios against adversaries of NATO.

              >Once the war is over it will be Ukrainians giving presentations on how to use this equipment effectively in combat scenarios against adversaries of NATO.
The current crop of Russians are currently attending a lecture called "Fricking Around, and Finding Out: Is My Hollowed-Out Rump-State in Any Condition to Fight a Country even 1/20th My Size? The Answer May Surprise You."

So what you're telling me is easy to mould, cheap labour and land costs initially that will draw in investment, and a steady increase in expectant good behaviour from good governance over time that will be embedded into future populations.
Wartime is the perfect time to remould a nation into a competent one. It has happened on more than one occasion thanks to western help in the past.

Sooooo we have another post-Soviet shithole being a post-Soviet shithole. Never forget:
-- 40 years ago Poland was a post-Soviet shithole and now it is a functioning society.
-- 40 years ago East Germany was a post-Soviet shithole and now it is an economic powerhouse.
-- 40 years ago the baltics were post-Soviet shitholes and now they all in the top 40 countries in on the Human Development Index.

I think we're starting to see a pattern here.
Give a post-Soviet shithole enough breathing room outside the "Russian Sphere of Influence" and within a generation, you have a functioning country.
So, sure, Ukraine IS poor, wartorn, corrupt and low on the freedom index....NOW....

Get back to me in 40 years. I suspect the pattern will repeat.

Ukraine was able to stump Russia with NATO gently pressing its thumb on the scales, so militarily they are a worthwhile addition. Economically, they hope to develop with the help of the EU, which in turn may also alleviate the widespread corruption in the country. While they don't have as much natural gas as Russia, they could serve as the gas station of Europe for a time while the EU gets its reliance on natural gas sorted out. Within that time, the Ukrainians may be able to use that excess money along with EU gibs to diversify their economy. Either way, another Eastern Euro success story would go a long way in rebuilding confidence in the US and the liberal democratic order.

      REMINDER TO ALL PUCCIAN SHILLS!!!!

The USA could take on the entirety of the CSTO and BRICS without any direct military intervention from its own Allies/partners/NATO (though economic support, intelligence sharing, etc. would happen nonetheless so there’s no sense pretending the USA wouldn’t have it) and win… HANDILY.
But the thing is, we wouldn’t have to go it alone. The USA has many defense partners for a reason lol.

      Now for some fun facts:
(2021 GDP to follow, in USD)
      GDP of China: 17.73 Trillion
GDP of all other BRICS nations (BRIS): 7 Trillion
GDP of CSTO: 2.075 Trillion (includes Puccia)
GDP of CSTO - Puccia: 296.46 Billion
      GDP of America: 23.33 Trillion
      GDP of Japan: 4.941 Trillion
      GDP of SK: 1.811 Trillion
GDP of NATO: a frick ton holy shit
GDP of the EU: 17.177 Trillion
GDP of Five Eyes: 30.25 Trillion
(Not bothering to do the math of subtracting USA from 5eyes or NATO lol, do it yourself vatnig, same for UK and Canada for 5is)
The USA will bury any adversary militarily, economically, and politically.
No amount of disinfo, dedollarisation cope, shilling, or seething will change that FACT
      Browns lost
      Turd world lost
      Puccia lost
      China lost

Mate, the leak you are talking about shows the Russians taking a frankly embarrassing amount of killed and wounded per Ukrainian killed and wounded. If the numbers are so good for Russia, vatnigs such as yourself wouldn't have the need to make lazy fake version by flipping the numbers around.

          Anonymous

No, not necessarily. The leaks were post Kherson when the Ukrainians just did a month long grind to kick Russia out of the only major metro area it managed to capture. It makes sense that the Ukrainians would have heightened casualties and the Russians and Ukrainians probably had about equal WIA with Russians just edging out the Ukrainians in KIA because Russian military medicine sucks and their WIA quickly become KIA. The Russians have already massively skewed the balance against themselves with their moronic pushes in the Donbass region again with little to show for it.

I'm not opposed to bringing Ukraine into NATO, but they have to get the Donbass back. If the war is left unfinished, it sets the stage for another one. Bringing them into NATO when they have unfinished business with Russia raises the stakes too high for everyone. This is most likely a bluff to get future concessions feom Russia.

Have u seen how pathetic they have performed in this war? There is a reason most countries that had previously purchased war equipment from Russia are now looking to replace it with US equipment. Also they have so few gun and ammo they have literally started to field WW1 weapons. Ukraine is able to hold it's own despite very limited training to it's troops. If Russia can't take on Ukraine how is supposed to take on a country with an actual military like Poland let alone Turkey, France, Brittan, or the US?

    >So, if Ukraine ends this war as a NATO member, is the Ukraine-Russian border basically going to be a Korean DMZ situation?
No. The new countries made up from Russia will be friendly and we'll all prosper together.

No more than the Finnish-Russian border lol. Puccia is a decrepit rump state that will fracture even further after this war is concluded. Georgia and Chechnya will take back their lands, the CSTO will dissolve, and China will exert more influence over Russia and the Stans

This. Karelia will either form it's own state or join Finland, potentially taking the kola peninsula with it as well. Caucasus will shatter into a bunch of warlords all looking to expand their territory. Ural area will make it's own state after getting tired by being cucked by m*scovy all the time. China will claim the far-east for itself. Kaliningrad either joins Germany, Poland, Latvia, Czechs or become independent.
And a cherry on top St. Peters might become a Singapore style independent city-state.
