They literally will and they will ultimately win. That's how they win all their wars. It's never a clean victory for them. But does it matter? They lost millions upon millions in ww2, and who cares about those perished men? Nobody. We only remember that they won.

It's "guessing" in a sense that nobody is counting dead ziggies directly. But there are statistical methods extrapolated from the instances when the count is possible, accounting for general tactics used by either sides and such.

Nobody knows except Russia. One of the stronger things in this war is how the Ukraine somehow doesn’t track their own losses and can only do so with guesses and estimates. Like, don’t they at least track the IDs of the people who serve in the UA? Do they really not track who gets assigned where and whether or not they’re still alive? Is it related to that story from last month of Zelensky ordering the military to investigate where 600k (iirc) servicemen are? It could just be politics, but maybe they really DON’T track assignments, something a Westerner would just automatically assumes happens. Or maybe it’s tracked but there’s no system for unifying all the data so if upper leadership wants the data they have to do special investigative operations. But still, if they’re literally forced to GUESS at their OWN losses it makes me believe they really don’t track a lot of things you’d assume is basic.

For a start, there's always going to be fluff of a few thousand because you can't reliably tell who's sitting in a trench with a broken radio or who is dead.
                Secondly desertions are not deaths.
Thirdly Ukraine won't release figures of deaths often on purpose because otherwise Russia can do a proper cost analysis on it.

                >Nobody knows except Russia.
Reminds me of the time CIA tried to get their hands on the "real" soviet statistics, as opposed to the obvious fluff they were bragging about in propaganda. And they managed to do it, right after the Union fell. Except it turned out that there were no real stats and those dumb Black folk were genuinely huffing their own cope.
Russia doesn't know its own numbers. It's not interested in knowing them because they may anger poo, because they may leak, and because families of MIAs don't get to receive their relatively generous compensations.

The fact that the CIA wasn't able to predict the fall of the Berlin wall and the USSR says it all about muh CIA conspiracy bs peddled by thirdies and schizos.
For every successful secret operation, they fricked up a lot of times. Specially since as you say, the soviets lied all the time to themselves. Another fun example:

In the early parts of the war, they lost only a couple of hundred men a day. I remember being excited to see figures of over 200 dead Russians in a day back when the Russian recipe consisted of less meat and more metal. Now that they're running low on metal, they compensate with meat waves resulting in upwards of a thousand dead or permanently disabled Russians per day. This is technically sustainable from a manpower perspective, but so were Germany's casualties during WW1. In a war of attrition, you don't lose when you run out of men, you lose when you run out of the resources to sustain, replace and arm those men in a way that allows them to fight effectively.

Murz had been volunteering for Russia since 2014. He was the one who said the LPR was conscripting guys still recovering from the injuries sustained in the previous conscription round.

Bakhmut is now impossible for the UA, they put everything they had to spare (not securing the front elsewhere or preparing for the counter-offensive) into that defense and they simply have much less now with which to do that again. Avdiivka is proof, it’s much quicker fall is partly due to the arrival of the glide-bombs but also in very large part to simply not having the ammo. Now it seems like they’re losing a village twice a week and OSINT seems very pessimistic. It’s so bad that Zelensky is even publicly warning that they’re in danger of having to do a general retreat and contract the front and that will put them in a really poor negotiating position.

                >they put everything they had to spare

                >Now it seems like they’re losing a village twice a week
These are minor tactical victories stemming from the fall of Avdiivka and predicted by all sides. The reason those villages fall is precisely because ukies are refusing to waste their people unless a good kill ratio is guaranteed. They will soon reach another stalemate at a village that actually matters resulting in the continued ziggie meat grind (the term used by Russian officials who are proud of the perceived idea that they can just waste their own people due to overwhelming numbers, btw).

Also, in case someone hasn't, I really recommend everyone checking out the actual location of Avdiivka and comparing it to the front line before the SMO. Will really add some perspective to all that zigger cope bragging.

There's around 70 cities with the same size or more as Bakhmut. If we are extremely optimistic and try to apply this formula to all the cities (even the ones with thrice or four times the population of Bakhmut), we're left with 4 million 9 hundred thousand men to take all of Ukraine!

It’s a peasant minority population — well not really minorities as only 50% of the country are “ethnic” (ie Slavic and related) Russians. That is how peasant empires fight — waves of disposable low-IQ low-value peasants. The whites run the military and staff the important / valuable units so as an organization it can still be effective, learn and get better. The disposable troops fix defenders while artillery, bombs, drones etc are called down on them, and repeat until the defenders are destroyed or fall back — it’s a pattern which has carried Russian victories since the failure of the Kiev rush. Ukies simply never had the firepower to quickly eliminate the disposables.

You're welcome to move the goalposts if you like but if we're talking about non WW2 conflicts with Russia maybe I should bring up their embarrassing and repeated losses to the English?

            >Guess what happens when Lend Lease is on the other side.
I've been hearing this talking point ever since
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukraine_Democracy_Defense_Lend-Lease_Act_of_2022
was about to be passed. It's 2024 and predictions went from 1991 borders in 2 weeks and Russia collapsing into many states to how not to lose more bits of territory here and there this year.

The difference between Lend Lease then and now was commitment. The US actually committed to the war effort and provided a consistent stream of necessary war goods halfway across the world for subhuman slavs to kill barely human germans.
Now unfortunately the yanks are tying themselves up in knots so the commitment isn't there. Things would be different if the US hadn't started infighting over sending ammo and equipment but I suppose mentioning that is like asking you how you would feel if you didn't have breakfast yesterday.

It's almost like each war is different, and you're a fricking moron for thinking Russia can just fight forever, even as it slowly circles the drain. Oh, my apologies, I realize you subhumans don't have interior plumbing. The drain is a device that feeds a pipe which carries waste water away. We have them in sinks inside western houses. We believe you would enjoy this technology if you weren't such animals. Hopefully that wasn't too complicated for your subhuman brain.

probably the same reason they've started to drop grenades on abandoned Russian equipment

      a) A wounded soldier may still pull a grenade and hurt any ukrainian troop nearby
      b) He may be just stunned, so it's a good idea not to take any risks
      c) In many cases frags will ensure the soldier is mortally wounded even with medevac, finishing off may be merciful in such scenario

So no matter the angle of the argument, finish off an apparently wounded is always a good idea.

the main cost of droning someone isn't the grenade but the drones you lose to EW while doing it or the drone team getting smokes.
after a failed attack with guys stuck in no mans land it's pretty safe to go and fly over them.
At that point it's a couple dozen bucks a pop. If only one or even two of those guys where going to make it back to their lines and fight an other day it's worth it considering and himars gets used to shred a dozen or so off them.

Ensuring none can shoot back or frag friendlies when they take back the area is wisdom because wounded play possum like Japs in WWII then kill whoever gets near. It's merciful and efficient since returning with grenades is so dangerous. Cleanup also ensures higher KIA rates. Even one survivor could do immense damage so it's better to leave none. There is no practical way to capture them for trade.

I've seen far too many videos where Russians play dead, at least until they get hit by a drone and start flailing.
I believe wagner were the first to start playing dead, they would send in thousands of people I to an area of rhe city and tell people the fodder to play dead until nightfall then advance further or wait for the enemy to advance.

      Anonymous

One "official" reason is that drones are not returned home with the payload still on for safety reasons.
But it's quite clear that the gore footage captured by the drones turned out to be a very efficient psychological warfare weapon to demoralise the enemy, so they maximise the cruelty factor maiming wounded soldiers. That's why you can easily find those videos and why there are several Telegram channels dedicated to them.
Ukraine can do it without much backlash because they are the invaded country and the Russians are perceived as the evil ones by most of the world.

      Anonymous

usually after failed attacks you could crawl into no mans land or out of no mans land and recover equipment and wounded in hours of limited visibility.

this is why german and soviets didn't even count tank losses until it was conceivably impossible to advance and then drag the wreck back to the rear and repair it.

now with drones if you become wounded in no mans land you are most likely going to die. it helps raise the ratio of wounded to dead higher than previous wars.

Typical Russian attacks go in 4 stages
    They shell an area.
The send in the first wave who will mostly die. They are mostly conscripts who are at the end of their contracts who were digging ditches in Siberia or some story like that. A couple survive go back
Repeat with a second group. These are actual semi trained rookies. They will mostly die.
    Typically this shows Ukrainians
    Defenses
Then the third waves goes in of veterans who usually die.
This repeats until the objective is taken. If the veterans due
Send in another group of conscripts then rookie soldiers then veterans
    Repeat

That's sort of what happened already thanks to the French Foreign Legion letting their men go to Ukraine free of charge within the first few weeks of the war in 2022.

If you see any Latin Americans in the war on Ukraine's side there's a very good chance they were former Legionnaires

The FFL is probably half slavic at this point, and most of the ones in Ukraine are slavs (polaks, some ukrainians, etc.)

The FFL has never let go anyone, the ones going there are retired legionnaires.

          >The FFL has never let go anyone, the ones going there are retired legionnaires.
          (You) are wrong & misinformed.

During 2022 the French Foreign Legion granted leave to anyone in the FFL who wanted to 'take a vacation' in Ukraine. There were no reported official numbers, but anecdotally it was at least 1000 in the first 100 days or so. Technically, they remain in the FFL and have to return to finish their service but are allowed to remain in Ukraine more or less as long as they wish to. Saw a bit in a new article where they were interviewing one of the FFL officers (who stayed in France), and he said they were real happy that so many of the FFL soldiers were getting real battlefield experience, especially against vatBlack folk.

There have also been a significant number of 'retired' veterans (from many militarizes of the world) who decided to take a vacation in Ukraine. There are tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions, of people who get real excited about the possibility of killing more vatBlack folk.

He's not wrong. I'm not going to spoonfeed you, you can just google it but the FFL were allowing men to go on break to serve in the International Legion in Ukraine within the first few months of the war in 2022. This was news in both english-language and french-language news media. This is not some secret.

I know for a fact most of the Brazilians in Ukraine were from the French Foreign Legion, with Brazil being a common source of recruits for the FFL, so is Colombia and lots of the Latin Americans in the Ukraine International Legion are also Colombian.

        >The Sun was near its zenith, the hot air made mirages over the massive Metropolis, one of the largest in the World of Man, as in anticipation of what was going to happen. Hundreds of thousands have made a stop to their daily labors to come and watch the great ceremony, a sea of humanity where every heart heard the echo of centuries past.

        >The great Monument has been prepared, the chosen men to conduct the ceremony dressed in the paraphernalia of the ancient priests of the Mexicas.

        >At every side of the Monument they could see battalion after battalion, both of their countrymen and from the delegations sent from all over the southern continent, all dressed in modern wargear, standards of many colors raised in rank upon rank, all expectant and silent, watching with intensity the line of downbeaten prisoners who formed a line tens of thousands large, the pale eurasian flesh a great contrast to the darker tones of their vanquishers.

        >Soon enough Sol, Huichilobos, sat at his throne in the sky, this was the moment the priests have been waiting, first making reverences to Him and then to the statue of his Wife Santa Muerte they made the signal to begin.

        >The soldiers dragged the first eurasian, drugged and broken he didn't put any resistance of remark, he was thrown over the altar before the leading priest, who remained silent for a few instant, contemplating the wretch, perhaps wondering if such vermin would suffice.

        >Then he rose the obsidian knife, the black edge breaking the daylight upon its surface.
The knife fell and the clamor began.

        >After some time blood reached the basis of the Monument, soon it will touch the boots of the closest battalion.

Is the USA prepared for this new drone based warfare? The citizens have war weariness over wars with less than 10,000 casualties and Russia had lost nearly 400,000 soldiers now. Is it still possible to keep low casualties with this style of fighting?

Yes. The Marines already have a whole set of doctrine for this. Marine doctrine assumes drones to be more capable and be equipped with thermal imagers. The US spends a lot of time and money thinking about these scenarios. It really shouldn't surprise you.

The only way you could make it better is by using it in a russian conversation which denotes that you are also refusing to refer to the country in its native name.
