These competitions prove nothing. Operationally busy armies typically attend these events with no prep. Ironically, if you place top in these events, it means your army have frick all else to do. Hence countries like Russia and China tend to win these competitions while UK and US tend to do mediocre.
Note it does work work the other way. Placing bottom doesn't say anything about competence or operational tempo. Placing top does say you do frick all.
