      >$10m a pop for Kh-47M2 vs $4.5m a pop for PAC-3 MSE.

Last time it took 32 PAC-3 to take down 6 Khinzals. Standard operating procedure is to launch 2 missiles on every incoming target and the Khinzal jettisons active decoys on the way down. So your math is off. As soon as the russians start to send khinzals loaded with nothing but decoys its game over.

The kills of the kalibes and propeller drones were done by other air defenses. The 32 pac-3 were spent entirely on the 6 khinzals. You can see it in the videos of the event, they ripple launch these pac-3s, very impressive fireworks.

              >It's a bit iffy when it comes to Storm Shadows, but it seems to be alright going by this photo we have of it.

The entire war is a real time test of Russian versus NATO tactics. Russians went for speed to attack before you could react and outrun air defenses. NATO countries went for precision strikes with stealth capabilities that go around air defenses.

Most of Russian shit gets blown up, and typically aimed at giant buildings because it's not accurate enough. Storm shadow hits bunkers with generals and their staff.

            Anonymous

Russian AA is decent enough, it's just that it has fallen behind both US options and Chinese options, as the Chinese have been iterating fast and furious on AD, it being a main area of investment. They have a much easier time getting high end components, since they actually produce a good deal or assemble things with them included, and they have way more money to throw at the problem and focus on it more since A2D2 is their entire strategy vs the US.

So, Russian AA is relevant simply because the US won't sell to anyone and the Chinese won't sell their good shit because it's a lynchpin of their anti-US strategy (same reason the US won't release stealth drones, fears of leaks to China).

Pic related would be more relevant except that, because it is so relevant, it won't get sold. Russia relies on muh nooks for deterrence. The goal of China is to rather rely on area denial and fighting close to home, allowing them to push with more credibility.

Acting normal, doing normal pleb things during a 1,5-years-and-no-end-in-sight war is what makes you adaptive and decently ok to continue:

Russia's terror bombing is one of the most pathetic military exercizes ever. Hundreds of millions of dollars and for what? They temporarily shut down some power generation stations, and killed a few hundred people. The average warcrime in a mid sized city killed more people for less. Terror bombing doesn't work unless it completely wipes cities off the map and Russia doesn't hvae the ability to do that. It's just a pin-prick that really pisses off every person and convinces them that "Total Russian Death" is the best option forward.

and people want us to be terrified of le ebin new wunderwaffe. How much are we betting that the chinese "hypersonics" are just as terrible as the Russians?

      Anonymous

Chinese hypersonics are credible in that they are actually a hypersonic glide vehicle and not just a ballistic missile, but their last test the missile was 20 miles off target.

      Anonymous

Never, ever assume your enemies are incompetent. That's the biggest mistake the Russians made.
We should assume Chinese hypersonics are the scariest thing ever, and we should continue assuming that until we're 100% certain that they aren't.

It's kinda a pleasant feel to see how missile and drone strikes that were more worrying in Fall/Winter (where some did slipped through AA and hit the capital) to Spring/Summer times nearly perfect interception rate despite high frequency of attacks on Kyiv. Also a bit seething at one homie from African delegation claiming to not hear the sounds, when I was talking to my granny who recently recovering from back issue and went for groceries right when ballistic started flying and do frickload of noises.

are you Ukrainian, then? Have Patriot and NASAMS completely replaced S-300 and other Soviet systems used to protect cities at this point? There was talk about missile stocks getting really low for the Soviet SAMs some months ago. Also I saw that South African spokesman's statement you're referencing. It's hilarious and infuriating that the moron could say something like that while the delegation was hiding in a bomb shelter. Some people are completely shameless

        Anonymous

Yeah. I doubt that stuff like S-300 and stuff Buk are all depleted, all western AA provided for us is still less then soviet ones, so plenty of cities are definitely covered by older systems, but eventually majority of AA will consist of western tech.

Reminder that Russia's Commissioner for Children's Rights herself spoke outwardly about Ukrainian children being taken away from their families, brought into Russia, and essentially indoctrinated. If the deliberate splintering of families, and the abduction and brainwashing of innocent children is not enough to sway you, then you were never really neutral to begin with.

Ukraine should just put South Africa under an embargo for food exports. US/EU should withdraw their economic privileges and block immigration/refugees/tourism.

      >US/EU should withdraw their economic privileges and block immigration/refugees/tourism.
We should keep allowing white South Africans to get out of that Hell-hole.
If anything, we should say there's a genocide against them and allow them as asylum seekers. Save the white South Africans and massively piss off their government at the same time.
