Two more PATRIOTS?

From Zelenski announcement this Friday
>two more air defense systems have arrived in Ukraine. Naturally, all details should not be made public. But these are the systems capable of intercepting everything."
Is there any other air defense system capable of this?
Who donated them?
Are they going to do risky stuff with them again soon?

Shoot and scoot with Patriots. Can it be done?

      >Shoot and scoot with Patriots. Can it be done?

Yes, they've been using Patriots offensively for some time. They spend days or weeks observing Russian air power to get their patterns, down, then setup a Patriot battery one day and shoot down several at once, then run away. They're typically setup in Kherson or Orkhiv when they fire then leave long before anyone even knows where it came from.

IIRC the german variant is mobile enough for this and it was already used in such capacity, hence the pidor whine about plane and helicopter losses.

        Anonymous

The German variant is pictured in the OP. It’s a bit quicker on the march order and emplacement because the prime mover stays connected with the launch station. The US variant has a separate flatbed for the launcher and hemmet bobtail for the prime mover.

Can patriot be used in a shoot and scoot manner? Of course. There are systems better suited for it, but you work with what you get.

A minimum engagement package would need five vehicles; the radar, control station, the power plant and two launchers. You can leave the antenna mast group at home unless you’re trying to share data with other batteries. You’ll probably also want an extra two vehicles for convoy security and one more for the advance party (RSOP).

I actually think the opposite. There is a very significant portion of the Japanese government that wants to seriously rearm because of Chinese revanchism and American urging.
Russia getting aggressive over some mostly worthless islands and aggressively saber rattling with be a wonderful gift that would hand that faction a ton of political capital.

Handing over something just to piss the Russians off and provoke a response would, from the perspective of the militant faction in the government, be a smooth move.

and to add to that fact I think Japan might be doing some calculus in its head right now about how if Russia isn’t squarely beaten in Ukraine they might turn to the East and try to be a little bit more bombastic and militarize the Islands and possibly even latch onto China’s revanchism and attempt to expand their influence in the region via military means if a war breaks out over Taiwan.

Japan is an interesting idea, but they've only very recently warmed up to the idea of exporting military equipment and It's a sensitive issue over there so I doubt it. I hope a policy change happens though, Japan has a decent amount of very good equipment.

said, Japan has a lot of sociopolitical issues that really prevent lethal aid from happening. They're warming up to it though, they started exporting Mitsubishi-produced patriot missiles to the US, so US-produced missiles could go to Ukraine, but It will take time and a lot of political capital before we start seeing direct donations.

People still don't get it. The whole 'running out of ammo' & Western aid 'drying up' is such a fairy tale. It's like people think it's not possible to get Ukraine weapons just because it's not announced or on paper. Guarantee Ukraine is getting a constant flow of all the shit they need with no problem, to the point where every shipment/delivery arrives perfectly on time in waves. Just imagine being a Russian in Ukraine, hearing that that the Ukranians are running low on ammo/aid for the last 3-4 months, boosting the Russians morale & motivation, only to get obliterated every single meat wave with combined arms by Ukraine. Although the DoD & Pentagon have 'procedures' when it comes to military aid, in reality they can do whatever the frick they want.

You vatniks are the stupidest Black folk on the planet. US and Ukraine will have an ironclad relationship after this war since Ukraine will basically owe its statehood to the US. The only possibly of Ukraine trading angry words with someone to the West of them will be with Hungary and that’s because Orban isn’t the brightest bulb in the box and has made some revanchist remarks.

      >>Us will have ironclad relationship with Ukraine after this

      It depends on the outcome.
South Vietnam and pro american afghan government had iron clad relationships with the US.
      Lon Nol's democratic Cambodia too.
All received boatloads of military aid from the US and even air support but that means jack shit if after a decade the US gets tired of providing support and the government collapses or gets replaced.

Even if the Russians are embarrassingly ineffective in this war if Ukraine gets no foreing support in a couple of years they would find themselves in a terrible situation as they run out of air defence and the Russians would be able to bomb them with near impunity unlike now that they can't do much without being shot down.

that's obsolete, find a new agenda already

          Anonymous

Honestly the whole Russian strategy is based on that. Can't get a new agenda if the only route to success depends on the US getting tired of supporting Ukraine.
And let's be honest if this thing turns into a decade long war of attrition the likelihood of some president to decide to force a peace deal is unfortunately high.
Which is why Ukraine needs to actually get some victories, to show that they can end the war with a victory, to get more support as already there are far too many politicians calling for it.

Against Russia however is the war cost which is slowly crippling the Russian economy as they need to either increase taxes, devalue the ruble, reduce spending or borrow at extortionate interest rates from china. However Russian are very sheepish and are still unlikely to get rid of Putin even if he is effectively ruining the economic future of the nation as the Chinese loans will take decades to pay off and printing rubles is just making everyone poorer. However doing a bit of all of the above they can kick the can down the road enough that Russians will feel the economic pain slowly enough that like the frog in the slowly boiling water put they are unlikely to do anything about it till it's too late.

You should ask US congress that. This whole shitshow is because of what happened in Afghanistan and to a lesser extent, South Vietnam.

The Russians and the communists know they can't fight the US in battle so they attack through a much easier route, which is American domestic politics.

                > communists beat the US in Vietnam
Lol. Nah. It truly was American domestic politics that lost the US the war. Case in point, the Tet offensive. Militarily the Tet offensive was an utter failure for the NVA and Vietcong, it destroyed the Vietcong as a fighting force and forced the NVA into battles that they were destined to lose badly, but the optics of the whole nation of South Vietnam erupting in flames was enough to galvanize the American population against the war, especially since the economy wasn’t doing so hot and shit clearly was going to be hot and prolonged unlike the Korean War. Both the strategies of North Vietnam and the Taliban were pretty similar, just keep dying until the US considers it too much of a hassle to justify continually killing you to the American public.

no, it was not American domestic politics that made it impossible to cross into North Vietnam.
