Turkey's carrier. Basics are emerging and it looks like the roaches are cooking up some vaguely interesting stuff. Some realistic, some pipedream (F35). The plan for now appears to be STOBAR designed to be fully removable, so they can graduate to CATOBAR once their domestic system is ready.

Btw, why do the Ford-class have less elevators than the Nimitz-class?

Increased efficiency, partly due to the new ammo conveyance system (which was a huge engineering problem for a long time up there with EMALS).

They did the math and realized the 4th elevator didn't get used much and actually reduced efficiency

Many ask this question. So far the answer is "national pride, duh" unironically. And "we need to develop more depth and breadth in shipbuilding expertise, which we won't get building smaller classes."

      1. Eastern Mediterranean has become more competitive with EEZ frickery and resources. This stretches back to WWI but now there's a lot of money involved and Turkey wants to flex.
      2. Turkey wants to secure a position leading the drone market and part of that will be leadership in naval warfare.

The better question might not be why so much as can Turkey afford it long-term.

realistically all that sea is going to get divvied up between Greece, Egypt, Israel, Cyprus and the arabs
roaches have no say in this matter, party due to their international relations stupidity, especially recently: they have managed to piss off both the israelites and the arabs, so neither trusts them any more
this ship is not an aircraft carrier, it is more of a helicopter/drone carrier
turkey does not have any carrier-capable aircraft, and they aren't getting any

turks owned greece for 600 years, defeated greeks in 1920's and won again in cyprus in 74
The only time greeks defeated turks was their war of independence but even then it was essentially russia, uk and france vs turkey

Very complex and finnicky. Not realistic for anyone but those who can ensure that they'll be doing carrier flight ops with tempo x.

Keeping all the engineering and maintenance structure around for full-fledged carriers is quite the undertaking, so you want to avoid making that commitment until you're absolutely sure that you can sustain the footprint.

Doing it like they're hinting they intend to do it, first with a modular ramp and then replacing the ramp with catapults, makes sense for a growing navy.

Some of you homosexuals, think that the next superpower will be some third world shithole like India, Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico or Nigeria. However, it will not be these street shitting countries nor the UK and Japan, which are old and the dogs of the US.

In reality, the country with the most potential to become the rival to the US, China, EU and Russia, is not any of the above, but Turkey (or Türkiye as they would now like to be called.)

They are the only country with a truly independent foreign policy (in being hated by all their neighbors and the major global superpowers) and the power to intervene in all three continents Europe, Africa and Asia. Turkish intervention has proven decisive in Syria, Libya and now in Ukraine. Given Russia's current weakness, it is only a matter of time before they too are humiliated by Turkey. Turkey defies both the US and EU at will, shits on the homosexual Gayreek-Egyptian- Israeli-Arab-French alliance created to contain it, and even has the capability to threaten China over the Uyghur issue. EU can be brought to its knees at any time by Turkey unleashing refugees upon it.

Some of you may say, Turkish economy is in the shitter and cannot support these ambitions. But Turkey has a power greater than currency - the power .... of imagination

All is going to Azari plans.

It'll just sail to the Libyan coast and bomb military/civilian targets in Tobruk or otherwise do maritime patrols. Nobody is starting war over this by sinking it and Turkey has the right to free passage.
