>Turkey still can't have F-35s
>but in exchange for finally dropping their NATO veto on Sweden and Finland, they will now be receiving 40 more F-16s to replace the last of their aging F-4s
Was it a good deal for the US? For Erdogan?
https://www.reuters.com/world/biden-administration-throws-support-behind-potential-f-16-sale-turkey-2022-06-29/
Yes as there are a lot of F-16s and foreign users keep the logistics train rolling.
All of those destroyed Russian ammo stockpiles directly influences the war on the ground. Russia is going to have to truck their ammo from further away and that causes a massive strain to the already struggling Russian supply chain. It’s been over since those 4 HIMARS arrived. This is stingers in afghanistan all over again.
spamming the wrong thread, bot?
Nope. This thread will attract the exact people who need this reminder. Deal with it
They'll fire the HIMARS 4 times then run out of spare ammunition kek
Is that what you have to resort to for copium
Better for the US I'd say since the timeframe for delivery here is likely a lot longer than it'll take to expand NATO. Once Sweden and Finland are in Turkey's bargaining chip is gone and so the US is free to cancel this due to any Turkish misbehavior real or made up if they feel like it. But if they get them I doubt Turkey will be served poorly by the aircraft.
Can f-16s target for GMLRS like the f-35?that’s probably the single most important capability a modern multi-role aircraft needs to have
Yes it can.
kick turkroaches out, never forget armenian genocide
t. cisgender half armenian anon
yuck
I would like to support Armenians more. But they literally pick the absolute worst allies. I support alternative power to the US though. Russians are just too stupid, corrupt and useless to take up that mantle.
>for the US
Yes. Strengthening Turkey against Russia and Iran is good. Not giving F-35 to a country ruled by the Schizo of Stambul is also good.
>for Erdogan
More planes and some diplomatic concessions. Most of what he got he already technically had, but getting Sweden to stop supporting the PKK is significant.
In what way was sweden supporting the PKK? Why were they supporting some group several thousand kilometers away?
pkk is narco terorist marxist communist organization. u make the math.
>For Erdogan?
No, you can't trust Westerners, they are liars and untrustworthy as proved with the Iran deal and the Kurds betrayal. Whoever trusts them is an idiot.
It's been like 300 years since we bought half the planet in exchange for some beads and whiskey and you morons keep falling for the same tricks.
I'm not worried about the turks having more f16s.
I'm honestly surprised they agreed to that. Really, all you wanted was a few dozen outdated jets? Whatever makes you shut up, humble watermelon farmer.
Spending on modern fighter jets is next to pointless. The only eventuality in which it will be pitted against another modern fighter jet and make use of its cutting edge performance is if you are up against the Russians or some other nuclear power, in which case moments later it will be shattered to pieces by a nuclear blast wave.
You might as well get a dozen older fighters for the same price, kit them out with modern radar and missiles and leave it at that. Also AI drone swarms will make them obsolete anyway. AI can pull bigger Gs, has faster reflexes and doesn't need years of training.
