>why is the drum not under the receiver?
Because we *need* a blow forward semi auto shotgun with a gas operated magazine.
There's a magazine tube inside the grip and the shells are loaded pissin' hot to provide enough pressure to both cycle the action and push shells from the detachable magazine into the internal magazine. The integral tube magazine works the same as an ordinary semi-auto shotgun, except instead of springs it uses sheer gas pressure.
We know, it's just fun to come up with asinine operating methods for this moronic shit.
I find it weird how a model maker can put something like this together and never once think >how shell chamber? >where bolt go?

It really perturbs me that a wastelander can make a functioning auto firearm out of wood, scrap metal, and whatnot, but can't figure out how to design a better gun, too.
>It's water cooled
To be a little autistic and pedantic and Captain Obvious-y: that's just unnecessary and an outdated feature, but doesn't stop the gun from functioning.
Unrelated but it's like an unholy mix of a steam engine locomotive, a 1940's power drill and a stock Hollywood firearm. It's the coolest "normal" thing in the fallout franchise and i don't care what realismgays say. I just wish it was real.
The charging handle may be on the right side unlike StG, but look at the whole front part and the sight. Clearly inspired by StG.
What inspirations do you see?
Originally there was going to be power armor exclusive weaponry but the idea was dropped. Since the textures were already there they just repurposed them to save time.
I'm sad there's no unique riot shotgun in the game to fill that "end game shotgun" roll, I guess dinner bell kinda counts but even the regular riot shotguns absolutely run circles around it.
Gas yeets the shell down tube from magazine to receiver. The bolt travels forward.
But why is the drum not under the receiver? What's the fricking point?

The ejection port would be obstructed still, the developers segmented the bolt texture for this reason
Great minds think alike.
probably like an xrail tube extention.
You actually only have about 3 inches of barrel. The rest is just buffer spring.
How does it eject?
Frame by frame review suggest the ejection port is actually a teleporter. In setting, the ejection port is behind the magazine well.
we've had this thread for 6 yeras niw. its just reyarded design by some noguns nerd

literally "PPSH, heck of a shotgun."
Ppsh heck of a shotgun
Heres one of my interpretations

How to immediately end a pointless argument with this one simple trick!
Thank the glow my second elbow came in.
Argument nothing, we're just harping on how stupid the old design is.
I liked the idea of customizable pipe guns but in practice it was always anoying to work with.
Just need to be more resourceful.
But I don't have enough Adhesive

By the way here's the artbook for 4 https://www.mediafire.com/file/x8r1i7s0vpdtx10/353075898-Artbook-The-Art-of-Fallout-4.pdf/file
Missed opportunity to have realistic zip guns in a game.
For me the Institute weapons are a greater missed opportunity.
Amateur hour. Try to explain this
What's weird about it? There is a place for a bolt to move backwards, the magazine seems to be lined up with the barrel.
It's water cooled, the barrel handle doesnt make sense, and i don't even know where the magazine locks

I always wished I could have a water cooled SMG from Valkyria Chronicles.
>I didn't really base this gun on any real life models.
>clearly a fricking StG-44
it looks vaguely like a lot of guns, anon.

the grip reminds of the MP40 but with wood instead of metal.
even the way the grain forms little lines reminds me of the way it was machined - though that's probaly more MP38 now that I think about it.
The front part seems more ak like to me
could be he meant it wasn't based on any one specific model and the nuance was lost in translation
I just wish they added more vehicles to the game.
Turbo Stug
>anti tank lance
Huh?
Lunge mines.
Lances in the game are basically RPGs that you hold like the smart gun from Aliens
see the bottom.
A few of the soldiers would fire them on their shoulders.
wow that looks tardtistic.
I want one.
still looks absolutely ridiculous
what is this tank from so I can enjoy more cool looking tanks?
Skoda Works in Reichsprotektorat Böhmen und Mähren

kino design
Realismgays been seething for 14 years now and will forever.
This is a regular semi-auto shotgun. But with an adapted drum magazine.
Like pic related except it looks like a saiga drum mag
Pull Trigger.
Thing in front of you goes Keplooey!
Laugh.
Repeat until their are no more Things.
Real lizard brain appeal here.

"It just works."
Maybe you could read the reply chain and find out.
