Trying to build a rx hydraulic excavator but I noticed that hydraulic cylinders cost 10 times more than pneumatic ones! That’s too much for me
Can I convert a stainless steel pneumatic cylinder to hydrolic, ot need to be able to have a push/pull force of around 20kg
There's a few vids on youtube of 3rd worlders making toy hydraulic cylinders with junk. They seem pretty powerful, one guy made a bucket loader I think that was powerful enough to lift him
Maybe I'm retarded, but I think as long as you stay in the pressure ranges of the cylinder, you can run them with oil, provided the oil is compatible with the seals and tubing.
Most are rated under 1mpa but I don’t know if using oil instead of air would provide better seal and allow higher pressure
I think I've seen somebody do this once and it involved drilling out the holes a little bigger to improve flow. It could only go up to about 1/10th of real hydraulic pressures but still lifted like 50 lbs
Sounds good enough to me what was the cylinder size he used ?
A small one sized for a (large) remote control toy. Maybe like 3/4 inch diameter I guess? Been a while since I saw it
most pneumatics are made for 6-8 bar, since thats what gear runs on.
i think before you blow a seal you will deform the barrel, only one way to find out how overbuild these toy cylinders are. put them in a box and stresstest em.
what kinda pump are you planing for?
One of those 12 hydraulic pump for trailers
Don't risk somebody's life on a homemade rig that if fails could crush a hand or worse.
I’m pretty sure hydraulic pumps don’t explode as liquide is not compressible
lol, lmao
you are sounding like a darwin award contender
Just buy a used cylinder or a wrecked piece of equipment to pillage. Getting an injection of hydraulic oil is not something you want to mess with. I don’t think pneumatic cylinders are rated for the same pressure generally.
Remember when messing with hydraulics if you start loosening a bolt or a screw and it doesn’t start immediately getting easier to loosen stop and think about what you’re doing.
Tolerances of 0.001mm on a lathe should be doable, but only if youre not a retarded gorilla moron.

When you can't even tell why you shouldn't then you would be much better off buying or renovate a escavator as suposed to build one. Don't try and remake something into something it was not intended to. Hydraulic's can kill you in more ways then you can ever immagine.
