Traffic turbines..

Came across a video about them while browsing.
These people have the idea of using pic related to capture the wind.

But logically it would be better to have tunnels under the roads with the turbines inside. Holes at certain intervals, grated, to work the turbines from the suction created going over the hole with the car.

So it would have to be a tunnel, mansized, with a smaller tube of like 20cm that is the actual turbine setup.
Mansized tunnel for maintenance, smaller tube to benefit more from the pressure difference that the cars make.
Combine these tunnels with plumbing, electrical, everything related to roads.

What are the issues of this? What distance does the holes need to be from each other to not nullify themselves? Added vents to counter it? Positive pressure in the tunnels via giant funnels outside catching wind?

    You are a fricking child.
    >What are the issues of this?
    Cost. Cost. Cost.
Operational problems, i.e. water incursion, debris incursion, wildlife incursion, performance issues, heat issues, etc.
Maintenance problems, i.e. cleaning, lubrication, repair, replacement, even isolating a single unit would be practically impossible.

Theres a free range hamburger station every 1/4 mile that will help feed poor people and provide them a much needed meeting place to provide social interaction that builds a sense of community.

You however will eat ze bugs so you can pay your fair share for the infrastructure and extra energy costs to run vehicles over the suck holes.

obviously the solution to global warming is lining all of our roads with billions of tons worth of plastic chinese fans.

      This. So much this.

We should just pave the roads with solar panels and install Tesla© Superchargers every 5 miles. Unfortunately that will never happen, because of some bad thing Trump did.

But a girl can dream, right?

You'd be powering these by what is essentially a very inefficient hydrocarbon fuels motor running on someone else's fuel
More drag on the vehicle will mean it has to burn more fuel, and that energy is siphoned off by the turbines, but at each step in energy transfer there is a loss in efficiency, often quite a drastic drop, especially in an uncontrolled environment like this (different car models will have different aerodynamics and you can't build these to be efficient for all of them)
You might as well siphon gas out of people's cars directly and put it in a generator, more fuel efficient at least

so you drive past the lamp post and the draft trailing your car spins the turbine and the lamp lights up the bit of road behind you
seems pretty fricking moronic as shit
why dont we just connect them all together and plug them in instead oh wait

why don't we place turbines on the cars instead? they go really fast and the turbines as a result will go really fast.
and the power they generate can be used to drive the cars and they will be far more efficient!
you're moronic even by PrepHole standards

    >What are the issues of this?
You're moronic. Capturing energy from things like cars moving by at high speeds it's moronic. The energy used to move cars is going to be exponentially higher than the energy you are going to be able to capture. Not to mention most high traffic areas are gridlocked multiple times a day.

You could do it, but it would be a very expensive, inefficient, impractical and unreliable generator that still uses mostly fossil fuels
    Ie you shouldn’t do it

Imagine if there was a power source that can be installed in a remote area that has incredible energy density and produces hot water as a byproduct.

    .....we could just use that....

Any discussion on power generation should begin and end with nuclear. Everything else is a meme or a larp.

hydro is good if you have the resources available, but every western country has dammed up what can be dammed (heaps left in africa though)
off shore wind can be good if you have the right climate for it
but yeah you'll always need nuclear as a baseline, and once you've expended those first two it should fill in all the rest

Nope. Nuclear power is the ONLY way to produce energy in a clean and abundant manner. Anyone who disagrees is more concerned with the destruction of civilization than anything else. Eat my shit!

Why not just make everything downhill so you can coast everywhere?

Because making walkable cities is inexpensive, has been done in hundreds of cities, and is proven to work.
