Awful and it's getting worse, I try to keep a fan or something going for white noise to cover it up. I can deal with it usually but when I get the sudden burst of EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE that last for a few seconds it's infuriating.
Weird.
I used to experience tinnitus on a regular basis, but until I saw this thread I hadn’t thought about it in years. Now I’m wondering what changed that I no longer experience it.
One possibility is that it is related to teeth grinding or jaw clenching during sleep. I switched to the softer over the counter night guards about 5 years ago.
I’ve also been doing immunotherapy for about 7 years. Maybe lesser environmental allergies equals less congestion equals less pressure on the ear and no tinnitus.
Junior year in college I was working for a contractor. We were remodeling a closet and I stuck my head in it to get a better view of the board I was nailing with a cordless framer. The pop echoed in the closet and it felt like 10 shockwaves went back and fort across my head. On that day I developed tinnitus and I can still hear it 20+ years later. Even at this moment.
Listened to dubstep as a kid then one day I got an ear infection and EEEEEEEEE
Only gets worse. Occasionally I'll get it real bad in my left ear for a couple of seconds at a different pitch. Really scary.
Doesn't bother me unless I bored or trying to sleep. The solution is honestly to realize that recognizing it or worrying about it is the thing that makes it bad. Gets really bad if I have anxiety or clench my teeth.
Ignore it and calm down and it goes away. This is your quiet now. Calm down. Focus on other things.
I have to use a sound machine in my bedroom, or I can't sleep.
It's only distracting at night, because there is enough ambient noise during the day.
I'm terrified of it getting worse so I refuse to work in a shop again.
I've had it since I was 7 or 8. My family has hereditary hearing issues so ill probably be deaf by the time im 60.
I hardly even notice it unless someone reminds me. I don't understand why people get driven up the wall about it.
When I go out in the woods I can't hear nothing anymore. There's always the low ring when everything else is silent. Sucks man, wore plugs and muffs all the time even.
none, I hear complete silence in the right setting.
always protected my hearing and wore earplugs, even when other people made fun of me.
I wear earplugs when riding my motorcycle, working with or around loud machinery, at concerts, and I use noise-cancelling headphones so I don't have to crank it to drown out external noise. I'm not taking any risks with my body.
this, had it as long as I can remember, have absolutely no memories of not having a ringing in my ears.
I have a very distinct memory from when I was 4-5 years old asking my mother why our ears always hear a ringing sound and her having no idea what I was talking about.
Apple tells me multiple times a day that I need to turn my headphones down.
Fun thing about playing live shows or recording, if you don’t have headphones on, you need monitors behind you playing even louder than the drums so you can hear what your bandmates are playing.
I have a very good sense of hearing even though I am exposed to very loud noises all day. I can hear animals in the forest walking around and usually tell what kind they are by the sound alone, but a few times a day one ear goes completely deaf at random and comes back with a ringing sound for a few minutes. I find it concerning since I don’t want to be a tinnitus homie.
I don't know what you're talking a-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>listen to minimal techno
literally problem solved, and my ears are part of the music (bonus)
Same thing but hardcore punk and sludge.
any recommendations?

There is, but it’s temporary.

The powers of medicine are largely overstated.
it varies, it's been good lately and only had the soft "sea noise" going on
a few weeks ago when I was fired out of the blue in a re-organisation. i had the "train emergency break" type for a week.
most often i have a medium background peep, around 12500Hz
i ise this one to match my tinnitus sound with the sine wave

I only really notice mine before i go to sleep at night when it's quiet, i just put the fan on and it 'goes away'
But yeah if it's dead silent it's pretty bad, especially in my right ear which is the one close to the saw

I'm going insane
Fake and gay
I just watched a youtube ad about tinnitus so this is obviously a paid thread
I have it since I was a kid, so I can't comprehend the concept of absolute silence, but despise that, I have no hearing loss

You and I both have the same relationship with it.
barely noticeable in complete silence
Kinda surprising since I hunt without ear pro and work in a fab shop and shoot guns regularly
Pretty bad, but I've had it since I was 4 years old. 30 years later it doesn't bother me nearly as much.
What? Noo man, we're on PrepHolenn!!!!!!

I was born with it, but i fricked myself by firing a pistol without ear protection. It has noticeably gotten worse since then, and I regret it.
Since I was old enough to ask my mom what that EEEEEEEEEEEE noise was
nonexistent, because I always wear proper ear protection
i only notice it when the power goes out which i quickly fix with a phone playing music
Mine is about a idling big rig with one hand on a front tire on a good day. On a bad day there are nerve spasms which makes it audible.
