Can I buy a new one for cheap somewhere?

Just get a tube of RTV, one tube will last you the rest of your life. It's like $3

will it actually seal it though?
It seems like it would leak

Lol no, seals up tighter than Dick's hatband. I've used it on a turbo before, it can handle a pressure washer

They even sell packages with pinpoint applicators

okay thanks you saved me, I actually have gasket maker lying around

Should I put the old gasket back on and put gasket maker on the areas of the gasket that were damaged?

            Nooooooo

In fact clean it thoroughly from any little bits that may be left.

There are no bits left, it's just the O ring in tact except it's damaged in 2 areas(look at the image).

Why not reuse the old one and just add gasket maker?

Because then it's not one solid piece and the one you pulled out is compromised

                okay
the only reason I was thinking to reuse the old one was because I keep thinking the gasket maker wont be as strong as the original rubber gasket

                am I wrong?

FFS ten seconds on google and I found a bunch of suitable replacement o-rings for less than $10.

I just used the gasket maker
I hope it worked because I got some oil on the gasket surface

AvE had a vid on how to bodge your own o ring. I've done it before and it works, only thing I do different is I skip the acetone because I never can fine the fricking stuff in the shed and chamfer the ends to get greater surface area for the glue. Bit more finicky than a straight cut and any strength increase may not be worth it but that's how I was taught how to do it
