But IFVs are basically just APCs with an autocannon-armed turret, how the frick does it make sense for each one to cost more than some tanks? You need APCs and IFVs to carry troops into battle, by definition you need vastly more of them than tanks and they're hardly a safe investment since they're usually nowhere near as well protected as tanks despite also being on the frontlines.

Apparently T-90s are about $4 million and they've been a smaller scale production than Leo2s, granted they're not as advanced but tbqh I'd probably prefer 4 T-90s to a single Leopard 2.

Or, really as this business in Ukraine has shown, I wouldn't really care to pick between the two, as long as the crew are actually trained and coordinated.

If i want to survive a mine, while the vehicle gets destroyed, a MRAP does the job.

                Anonymous

Which it did. In the video we see them using their weapons and smoke with no problem. The issue is that tracks or wheels, it doesn't matter, will always lose out to large enough explosions. As per the same situation, the Leo was mobility killed because both of its tracks were taken out. This cannot be avoided, only diminished.

Also, what the other poster said. Post IFVs whose tracks are literally impervious to mines. You can't because they don't exist. Runflats can be disabled. Tracks can be disabled. Even frickin' vehicles that hover on cushions of air can be destroyed by mines presuming they are magnetic.

                Anonymous

MRAPs are specifically made mine-resistant. They're supposed more survivable than Bradleys against mines. The fact that Bradleys can also survive mines speak volumes on their design's greatness.

        >We see piles of those
Yeah because they actually get used in the thousands in actual wars, if the Ukrainians had thousands of Bradleys, clearly we'd see piles of wrecked Bradleys as well.

This is such a funny cope when Anons are like
        >But I've seen many destroyed <insert Soviet vehicle here> so it must be bad
Ignoring that statistically there's just so many more BMPs, T-72s, MiGs, etc showing up in wars to get hit in the first place. If Bradleys and Abrams have only been used to curbstomp Iraq and Afghanistan in service with the US military, that depended more on air support than armour, then it's not a big surprise that there aren't smoldering piles of them.

Ukraine is proving that Bradleys, when actually being depended on in an advance, is nothing special and I'm pretty sure Saudi Arabia and the Iraqi army have proven the same of the Abrams as well.

Basically, regardless of what your tank/ifv is, when you're not picking your battles, your tank/ifv is much more likely to be hit and destroyed, the US picks every battle it fights and if it doesn't want to depend on armour when close air support can expect no anti-air resistance, then surprise surprise they don't depend on armour when RPGs are a potential resistance.

Yeah it's always silly when they go "see? those NATO tanks took losses without air support, clearly they're dogshit"

Ukraine losing is possible, maybe likely, even probably, if unfortunate. The important thing, the thing we want and are really going for, is the absolute neutering of the russian state and people at a minimum, and (hopefully) the ruination of the russian people and state, and if we’re being frank we’re all wishing for the elimination of the russian people and state from the earth forever. While this seems pretty weak, I am becoming more moderate.

Tbqh they could just tell people that Russia has been destroyed and they'd believe it regardless of the facts. The US has near daily mass shootings and literally no one has any idea on how to stop it or even exactly why it's happening and therefore is unlikely to ever stop now, nevertheless this does not show the US to be a failed state in its death throes, ackshually the US is currently having a renaissance in terms of its position on the global stage as the leader of the free world, isn't that nice?

                >mass shootings

Yes yes comrade but also we lynch Black folks. On a serious note, the mass shooting definition is 4 or more people shot - 99% of “mass shootings” are black gangbangers shooting other blacks and happen exclusively in a dozen or so zip codes. Would be pretty rudimentary to stop it but the solutions are quite unpalatable.

If you mean the Staromlynovka area, that is somewhere else. And the reports of Ukraine taking Staromlynovka turned out to be false.

It isn't really, it's one checkbox in PrepHoleX. I never really understood why people use it, especially cause you can just manually rename files as you upload them too, which is helpful when you don't want everyone to start screeching about reddit when you googled an image off imgur. Now I know why they do it, and it's staggeringly pathetic

let me lay it out for the ziggers in this thread, you have spent the last year and a half taking L after L, your side has literally not had a good victory once, it's incredibly obvious to any regulars here that you were gasping for air.
you're like an abused dog, you're so incredibly desperate for a treat that you gobble it up like a wild maniac.
the spam posting of the last few days reeks of desperation, you've finally got something you can pat the russian army on the back for, something to at least equal part of the MONTHS of russian routs, vehicle slaughterfests, and general degeneracy.
and instead of taking it with dignity, you go rabid.

this is why nobody can take you seriously, you're like a meth addict that just got their fix and you're deeply hoping that this will be the status quo for you from now on, that the humiliation of russians will finally stop.

Ukraine cucks sound so much more spiteful and angry these days, perhaps it's their faltering confidence in the side they've for some reason formed an emotional dependency on.

Your side might still win anon, it probably won't be that funny and meme worthy by then, but victory for Ukraine is still possible.

I'm just wondering where the meme are? There were so many funny memes previously mocking the Russian invasion, now it's just seething and wishing for the extermination of not just all Russians but anyone who has ever had any opinion of Russia other than "it needs to be destroyed.".

The change in attitude from bonk! memes to posting like a woman who got dumped by Russia is funny, just not in a ha-ha kind of way.

            Anonymous

there's still plenty of memes, not sure what you're talking about. we can make light of these things and wish for TZD at the same time. this is the kind of thing that happens when you are incredibly incompetent, but also incredibly spiteful and willing to invade others to make them as miserable as they are. russia should have by all means won this with the resources at their disposal, but the very fiber of their souls is what thwarted that for them.

I have nothing good to say about that fricking death-trap.

I worked at a "defense contractor" who was retrofitting fire suppression systems in those rolling shitboxes. Two things: look up the controversy about the earlier fire suppression systems causing the deaths of crew members. Second, Halon can kill you, and it isn't a dignified way to go. Another fun fact: ask anyone who has ever spent time in an earlier version how much they enjoyed the fumes from the overcharging batteries (hence the need for an overkill fire suppression system).

What's the deal with both the BMP and the BTR also existing, what's the benefit in having an APC and a separate IFV? Other than cost?

Latest BTRs have the same 30mm cannons, you can fit anti-tank missiles to anything, so I dunno what a BMP adds as an IFV to their APC?
