They pretend to like it because they think it makes them look smart. That’s the real problem plaguing movies nowadays, try hard bullshit like this gets elevated by Redditors because they want to feel better than everyone else. You can identify them by asking them to explain the movie or give their thoughts on it. They never can, because they’re just going with the crowd and saying they totally understood this boring schlock.
Uncultured take.
You fail to realize the context of the movie in which to watch it, and that is drunk on vodka with cigarettes outside on grandma's couch to enhance atmosphere.
I agree, it was literally >nothing happens: the movie
Except at the very end we see some kid had fricking telekinesis all along. I think the whole movie was like a joke, that there was a kid who could move shit with his mind but we had to watch three dudes walk around and have pseudointellectual monologues for 3 hours instead.
I admit the ending is weak and unnecessary. "Nothing happens" is quite literally the point, is it not impressive to create a tense and esoteric experience while practically no action is happening? Its all done with excellent set design, cinematography, sound design and performances. You know the things that matter in a movie. A lot happens but its all in the characters' interactions, imaginations and expectations. And the movie trusts you to spend the quiet moments thinking about its subject matter along with the characters. Not a movie i'd expect PrepHole to appreciate.
Go read a book, movies are supposed to be an evocative feast for the eyes, you don't need plots, stories, dialogues, only un-monocled midwits care about those things.
Call me a turbopleb but i kinda prefer Solaris, there is something that just feels extremely intimate about that movie
Also the landscape painting scene kinda changed the way i feel about movies as a whole there's that too
if you're not baiting and actually care to understand stalker i recommend reading his book
it's a great way of getting familiar with not only his films but arthouse cinema in general
it's free to grab on libgen
The first time i watched it when i was 18 it kind of bored me but it was an interesting experience.
I watched it again 3 months ago (i'm 31 now) and it became one of my favorite movies ever. The characters. Their motivations. The mysterious vibe of the zone.
Stalker is a boring "dudes walking around in the forest" movie but since its old and foreign and has characters spout some first year of college existentialism that means its actually high art.
Yes! So much yessss! I kept asking myself the whole 5 minutes (I couldn't resist life without tik tok any longer) where are the opressed black people, why I don't know pronouns of these people, why do they talk and most imporantly where is spiderman?
The movie is terrible my review is 2 out of 10 next, next time bring some more action.
[...] >first year of college existentialism
I must have missed the part where they talked about Black folk and their love to certain Black person body part
The sand dunes scene is completely half assed and breaks any immersion. It's like they just got some guy who never saw dunes in his life to dump some sand on the floor and call it a day. Literally unwatchable.
This board is so awful for movie discussion. No wonder you people only talk about mainstream Hollywood movies because that's all your fried brains are capable of. All of you can only make the same unfunny meme threads or coomer threads about actresses. My question is, why did you ever bother?
heh, stick to teletubbies scrub
Stalker ragebait is tiresome, its common sense that the film is good
People pretend to like this boring piece of shit because it looks good, literally nothing happens

checked and false. i personally found it an allegory for Christianity (or spirituality/religion/God?)

Would have been more interesting if it was a actual horror / thriller movie set in the Zone rather than 3 white guys walking for hours
Actually fricking have a nice day
I know you're baiting but i still want you to have a nice day
genius bait
Yeah I wouldn't want to watch it again
>Apocalypse Now is boring
This is a new low
It is, nobody fricking cares about "MUH Nam"
What do you care about?
A story where things happen with developed characters that aren't planks of wood. Godfather was good even if it's slow as molasses
Go read a book, movies are supposed to be an evocative feast for the eyes, you don't need plots, stories, dialogues, only un-monocled midwits care about those things.
If you think vietnam is anything more than set dressing in that movie you are actually moronic
Call me a turbopleb but i kinda prefer Solaris, there is something that just feels extremely intimate about that movie

I agree and I even played the game
(saw the movie when it released)

I don't know man, i liked it.
If you don't understand Russian, you didn't watch the movie. It's as shrimple as that.
kys
Get out of here stalker.
Hi Timmy.
Keep watching films, as many as you can, for the next 10-15 years.
Then revisit all of those movies.
You'll like them by then.
It's a movie about faith. If you don't understand that the whole movie will go in one eye and out through the other.
I like the movie
Simple as.
>looks at a puddle
>the zone man
>movie ends
No wonder the soviet union went bankrupt.
Imagine getting filtered by a babby's first avant garde film.
How the frick are people still getting filtered by Apocalypse Now?

I read Zona, Geoff Dyer's take on it. Very funny entertaining book that I recommend. He likes the movie spoiler

No, its just *American culture* and it cannot be overlooked.

I'm a brainlet and I still didn't get filtered by Stalker or Apocalypse. Maybe you should stick to Sharknado.
>boring
thank you. i've tried to watch it several times and just can't
Stalker > Apocalypse Now > 2001
No child, iT is noT boring. These are your delusions. Enjoy prison.
