The UK destroyed their own manufacturing industry because they found out they could make more money by having a third world country do it

Now they don’t have the knowledge or the workers to build thinfs

  14. 1 year ago

Good thing we built two then.
    >nooo you can't just use parts from one on the other!!
Why not? If we're procuring replacement parts for the one in dock you might as well keep the other operational with the parts that work, and buy said parts in the same batch as the ones you were already replacing. It's literally the most practical thing to do.

It isn't, but half this board is a bunch of fricking morons with no logistical sense.

The U.S. and U.K. do this with its ships and aircraft. If one unit is in for major repairs, or a major inspection. It becomes fair game for parts. The new parts usually arrive well before the end of the scheduled repair/inspection time.

This concept of repair and inspection cycles are lost on the ignorant.

These posters are being disingenuous. There is a difference between returning to port for scheduled maintenance, and having to steal parts from a working ship to give to another ship. The shortfalls in the production of parts is readily apparent.

          >There is a difference between returning to port for scheduled maintenance, and having to steal parts from a working ship to give to another ship.
It had to go in because of a propeller decoupling or something to that effect, not because the other ship needed parts you absolute moron.
