How efficient is the expansion chamber / flash hider?

Efficient enough for the ATF to classify it as a "silencer"

So i cant make a comically large gasport to reduce acoustic emission?

Depends on how the ATF's feels like, afraid

Moderator, has baffles like a suppressor and reduces noise more than 5dB so it's classified as one.

So how come SF/RTs etc didnt have trouble with their XMs but regular troops did once they got their m16s? All issued the same ammo, presumably.

      >M16 is the same as a XM177

If the M16 suffered due to the ammo spec, why wouldnt essentially a carbine version not suffer the same issue?

Methinks they got better stuff less sabotaged behind the scenes. Magazines less crap for instance. Also, they likely had times inbetween the M16 being first issued and the XM177s to iron out a few flaws.

Or they just took better care of their kit than the line grunts

Because it was a different rifle used by different people. Said rifle came out after the M16

To think we are just now returning to a higher strength caliber, after all these decades.

The 6.8 is a brand new cartridge from Sig for its new XM7, just like the sidearm. It is more expensive, but has less power than the 7.62x51/308. It’s an intermediate cartridge between the 5.56 and more powerful battle rifles calibers. Probably because ground units still have to carry a ton of stuff at all times.

What the frick is going on with that CAR 15? What's that forward assist? Why does it have a bolt with what looks like extra shit milled out? What's up with that front takedown pin? Is the lower fricking cracked?

      It’s a movie prop.
