If those Abrams are actually M1A1's, those will require upgrade soon, regardless is the upgrade done in Poland or US. It means future defense sales for all involved suppliers and spareparts deals for at least couple decades. Poland already has Abrams on order, if not in service, and they have all the infrastructure to support it.
US has donated equipment to Malaysia before as part of efforts to deter the PLA in the South China Sea, given that the Malaysian military is quite small and underfunded due to domestic politics, and half its equipment bought in the 90s is literally falling out of the sky.
