The personalities of mountains

Hello PrepHole this is going to be a little weird but stay with me. I've been an avid hiker and camper for a while now and one of my favorite environments to hike in are mountain ranges especially forested mountain. But I've noticed that some mountains almost give of a feeling a vibe if you will. I've been to three mountain ranges in my the Rockies, the Appalachian, and the Sierra Nevada and they all give off different feeling almost like personalities.

let's start with the Rockies. the largest mountain range in North America. they definitely give off a massive sense of grandeur. they just feel powerful and they demand respect from all who enter them. One cant help but feel in awe at their majesty, but also feel driven almost as if the mountains them selves are pushing you forth. when you walk in them you van almost hear the mountains say be strong or perish. the Rocky Mountains demand respect and will punish any and all to do not give it. however they are not unkind mountains life in the Rockies can be prosperous if only you have the strength and willpower to see it through.

in contrast to the Rockies the Appalachia are different. the Appalachian mountain range is one of the oldest mountain ranges on Earth. and in feels like it. the Appalachians feel ancient like they've seen the rise and fall of civilizations they've seen battles and wars and hunts succeed and fail. the Appalachia started to form before the dinosaurs, and the mountains feel almost uncaring as if they know that they'll survive. that no matter what happens the Appalachia will endure it species may evolve and die out but they will always continue. when you hike in these mountains you almost feel indifferent the mountains don't care about you they don't hate you they don't love you they merely tolerate you if even. perhaps this is why so many feel uneased by the Appalachia why it has a dark reputation, I think this is mostly unearned but it also comes from the fact that the mountains just feel uncaring they were there far before humanity and they shall be here far after. the Appalachia do not have value strength in the same way the they almost value perseverance more. to survive in the Appalachia you simply have to be willing to go with the distance to survive at any means in any cost. he's ancient mountains do not give their respect easily but when you do earn it you may be greatly rewarded. tldr the Appalachia give off The vibes of an ancient slumbering god it cares little for the creatures that wander its forests and mountain ways but when it does take notice you'll definitely know

I have to disagree partially. I grew up in the Appalachians and they always feel like a wise old man caring for children. Trying to pass on his ancient wisdom the only way he knows that works. By making you work for it, but not trying to make it impossible. The Appalachians provide, and always take care of their children that take the time to learn from them.

I didn't catch it the first 4 times... Can you tell me again about the Appalachian indifference? Maybe with a different half baked metaphor to say the same thing?

and finally we have the Sierra Nevada the mountains I am the most familiar with. However that doesn't make it easy to discern these mountains personalities. not as old and ancient as the Appalachia not his mighty and tall as the Rockies. the Sierra Nevada feel split between worlds the shrublands of California and the deserts of Nevada. with some of the oldest and tallest trees in there forests these mountains feel like they were once a mighty bastion of life, but they feel scarred now almost decimated. the Sierra Nevada feel like a mountain range that was once a mighty host to all manner of creatures mountain goats, grizzly bears, pumas and so many more, but now these ones lush mountains almost feel like a shell of what they once were despite holding some of the largest national parks in the country and still having massive biodiversity these mountains almost just feel beaten bloody. and without almost a resentment to those who walk in it. these mountains who have held such ancient creatures in it now feel like they need to hand out punishments to those around it those who have abused it. I wouldn't go so far as to say the Sierra Nevada feel wrathful but they do feel like... like an angry parent ready to hand out punishments to those who have wronged them. maybe one day soon we'll feel these mountains anger if we cannot help them heal in time

Great posts, OP. Places definitely have a personality if you listen. Not just Mountain Ranges, but all places, even individual rooms in your home. You should take some time and proof-read your posts, though - they are a little hard to read. But I like you, Anon

Except he missed the Sierras completely.

Chased off from his 3 brother mountains after fighting over a female mountain, causing many eruptions. According to legend he might return and some people avoided living in the path between them

Hey op I just want you to know that you're 100% correct about places having personalities, plus you talk like a gay and your shits all moronic.

But seriously, you're spot on about the rockies and appalachia.
