I’m an American and metric is the way to go. The only reason that we are not metric is because pirates literally stole the weights and measures.

Therefore, we should use a base 10 system. It’s as simple as that.

I'm an American scientist and it doesn't matter. if you are too moronic to be able to convert between them nothing will make a difference to you.
this. and certain units are better for different things. C is great for lab experiments, but F is better for actual human interactions and communication because it's more granular. you can change a thermostat by 1 degree F and get just a small change. change a thermostat by 1 C and it's a big swing. I could never get comfortable when I spent a month in Brazil... too cold on one number, too hot on the other. I guess you can have thermostats that change fractional degrees, but who the frick wants to deal with fractional numbers when you can deal with based integers.
Did Norma pay you for that comment?
Because Norma Ecospeed is fricking garbage ammunition that is so innaccurate it isn't even any good for plinking; let alone small game or varmints (all the advertised purposes of the round on the box).
It's too light to cycle any autoloader I've put it in. There's no point in silencing it.
Guns I've put it through :
Ruger 10/22
CZ 457 Jaguar
Ruger Mark IV 22/45
Ruger SR22
KSA Crickett
KSA Mini Mosin
Ruger American Rimfire
Heritage Rough Rider
Ruger Single Six
Henry Frontier w/24" barrel
Out of NONE of those guns was the ecospeed what I would call "accurate". It was, in fact, less accurate overall than Remington Thunderbolts.
Pic Related.
Those were some of the nicer groups I ever got out of the eco-speed, and they were still shit. For reference most of those groups were shot with my CZ457 Jaguar when it was brand new to me and I was looking for the ammo it liked best. However, top row far right and top row second from right were both shot with my Crickett (as a baseline to see how I was shooting that day). The Crickett is a gun that (on a good day) I can punch a singular ragged hole of a 5 shot group at 25 yards. See what the ecospeed did from the bench VS what I did offhand with the Aguila (minus a couple flyers that were absolutely my fault).
What I'm saying here is I've gotten universally shit performance out of Norma Ecospeed, and I will always warn people away from it at least as strongly as I will warn them away from Thunderbolts.
I like my .22lr
To be fair these days I've settled into almost exclusively using CCI Standard Velocity. All my guns like it. It's miles better than the cheap shit. In fact I don't think you get more accurate than CCI SV without getting into the legit match grade ammos like SK and Eley.
CCI Standard Velocity is fricking fantastic. At ~$4/box for consistency and accuracy that is close to very expensive Eley/Lapua/SK .22 match ammo, it can't be beat. I bought some in 2020 because it was the only .22 available, and was amazed at how accurate and cheap it was. I went and ordered a ton of it from CCI, along with their Quiet-22 ammo which is equally accurate. My absolute favorite .22 ammo.
Winchester used to offer an Australian made 42gr subsonic round that was also fairly cheap and very accurate - more accurate than any other .22LR I've tried from Winchester. They stopped making it, though. CCI SV is now basically the only .22 ammo I buy/shoot.

Based. What do you think Blazer HV?
I also use CCI SV in all my 22s but my handgun needs something with a bit more punch to cycle
I haven't used Blazer HV. When I need something with more punch (to cycle my SR22 or Mosquito) I turn to CCI Minimags. They're the only semi-autos 22's I own anymore. Everything else is bolt or lever action. Though I just won (today) a single shot 22 rifle that is a Martini-Henry action. I'm very much looking forward to shooting it.
For reliable semiauto cycling, I always use/recommend the following two options:
- Browning BPR 40gr hollow-point @ 1435fps
- CCI Velocitor HP @ 1435fps
Both of those have a stiffer charge with a standard weight bullet. If your auto doesn't cycle every time in all conditions with these two loads, it won't function reliably with anything else.
The Browning BPR 40gr hollow-point stuff is made by Winchester, but somehow better than the same offering by Winchester. I don't know why, that's just my experience. Also, there are several Browning boxes with BPR on them. You need to find the one that says "40 gr" and "1435 velocity".
Both of these are just okay accuracy-wise. There aren't any very accurate high velocity .22 loads. If someone claims there are, they literally just don't know how accurate .22 can be. They're accurate enough for shooting squirrels and rabbits at normal hunting ranges if you're not going for headshots.
Been using these in pic rel and so far I've had 0 failure after maybe 5 or 6 boxes, hard to beat for the price
CCI SV is under $5/box and made in the USA. I'm not sure almost as good is worth saving a buck per box made by filthy Czechs and owned by dirty Brazilians.
Fair but I'm a Euro and CCI prices went way up in the past couple years so I'm trying different things
I have NEVER ever ever heard anything good about that ecospeed shit. Maybe there's some magical twist rate no one makes a .22 in that it'd work in but I haven't seen it so far. Also you can for sure get better groups out of Aguila than what's on that pic; I can shoot squirrels at 50yds with it out of my 10/22. At least the 38gr.
>Also you can for sure get better groups out of Aguila than what's on that pic
Yeah, I know.
The Aguila Super Extra 40grain I used to shoot was almost as good as CCI SV; a little cheaper too. BUT, it smells weird and I'm willing to pay a penny to avoid that smell. Also, that was a mediocre day for accuracy for me, and a gun that was literally brand new to me. I've gotten better since then. I hope to continue to get better. I shall also collect fun .22's. I currently have my eye on a Geco Model 1925 that has a double trigger. Seems to be an uncommon variant model.
Yeah, new guns are always a bit of a learning curve. I shoot the Aguila 38gr out of my 10/22, though it's with a scope and from a rock solid aluminum rest and bean bag. In the field it's with a nice lightweight tripod. The smell doesn't really bother me; I started buying Aguila during covid shortages when I couldn't find anything else and I just kind of never stopped buying it. A new store opened and Aguila 5.56 was the only 5.56 or .223 anyone had; it was even cheaper than online IIRC so I bought two 50rd boxes. Then later, a big chain store had Aguila .22lr 38gr 250rd or 500rd boxes when I couldn't find any other .22 which is why I started buying the .22 in the first place. Waxy, smells funny, but accurate and pretty damn good effect on game. >double trigger Geco
Never seen such a thing! >I shall also collect fun .22's
That's one of my favorite things to collect; they're cheap to shoot, parts rarely break, and there's really no "shooting out the barrel" on a .22. Worst that happens is it gets filthy!
>Never seen such a thing!
This isn't the one, but it is what I'm talking about
https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/rifles/antique-rifles---single-shot/original-geco-karabiner--model-1925.cfm?gun_id=101567887
The double trigger is a (mostly) European thing. As I understand it, they're mostly for hunting rifles. The first trigger sets the second trigger, which in turn is a VERY light pull. It's the first time I've ever seen such a setup on a 22. I want one.

I mean specifically for a .22, especially a Geco! I've seen set triggers, but for a .22? Never.

>but for a .22? Never.
Right? First time I saw it I was "Oh hell. What did you do bubba?" Then I did more digging on the model and found more examples of the double trigger. So I'm guessing it was a variant model. Either my Google-Fu is weak or there isn't much information on the 'net about them.
CCI SV is under $5/box and made in the USA. I'm not sure almost as good is worth saving a buck per box made by filthy Czechs and owned by dirty Brazilians.
I have not tried S&B 22.
Mostly because I'm happily settled into using CCI SV. I buy it from a local shop by the case. It's a little more expensive than the lowest I can get it on-line, but buying it local supports local business and I'm happy to do that when it's reasonable for me to do so.
Alright, yeah I would shoot nothing but CCI SV if the prices hadn't gone up so much lately.
But that situation has made me try new things and so far I find that S&B standard and Norma TAC-22 are pretty close to CCI SV, around the same price point
If you could make .22LR go 20,000fps it wouldn't matter if you couldn't hit anything with it.
Works just fine in my single six plus no lead residue :^)
If this thread is up then still sure, Ive found its as accurate as I am and I can do like sub 2 inch groupings easily at 75 feet offhand standing with my horrible astigmatism. I really need to get an optic to really do better I think.
What are your thoughts on Normas Match/Tac 22.
That stuff has been my best performing "match" round outside of Eley.
CCI SV is my baseline but Aguila match has been working nicely too.
Norma Tac 22 has been the equal or almost the equal of CCI SV out of all my guns. As I've said, I've happily settled into shooting CCI SV; however, I've got a pile of TAC 22 I _should_ be shooting before it gets old (not that age should really have much effect given I store my ammo well, but still). And when I say "a pile" I mean about 10,000 rounds.
I like my .22lr.
A good quality 11.5 sbr ar-15 platform with this caliber shall never let you down even in the darkest of ammo crunchs, nor great depressions, also a great indicator of when it will all be falling down if 22 lr becomes 50 cents a rd or 1$ a rd you know its ogre.
I have a spare pistol lower, so I'm kinda torn between buying a 22lr upper or one of those CMMG conversion kits for my main AR. I've heard those 22lr conversion kits for ARs and AKs can eventually clog your gas ports with lead fouling.
>I've heard those 22lr conversion kits for ARs and AKs can eventually clog your gas ports with lead fouling
thats why when you are done you remove the conversion bolt and shoot a few rounds of actual 5.56 through it. Your first shot will make your AR15 puff smoke like a muzzleloader
Don't get a conversion kit if you expect any sort of accuracy from your rifle. Standard .223 and 5.56 barrels have a different twist rate from .22 LR, subsequently the bullet is not stabilized and accuracy when using .22 LR is shit. Many of these systems are also quite unreliable with jams occuring often. If you really want a .22 AR get an actual upper.
Im looking for a good 22 for hunting. Any recommendations? I already do own a CZ 452 and a 10/22 that im considering, though neither of them have iron sights which seems like a big plus in case the glass breaks. The 10/22 sadly has pretty miserable accuracy too event hough it has a bull barrel.
browning bl22 because I have one
Don't know if it's truly the best but I like it and I've always seen it highly recommended whenever the topic of 22lr lever guns is brought up
I bought a ruger mark iv target (pic rel) a while back and I've only shot white box Winchester .22 through it. having a higher than expected failure rate. I'm talking sometimes 3 rounds in a 10 round mag. the dud rounds do seem to have a good strike mark on the rim. sometimes if I feed them back in a second time they will fire. is there something wrong with my striker or is it the ammo?
Could be either, try different ammo. In my Mark II I have maybe 1 ejection issue every 15 rounds but I've yet to have a failure to fire, shooting almost only CCI Standards
couldn't even find a pic of it online lol here is what I've been shooting, gone through around 750 rounds. some days I barely have any duds, some days I have more.
Experience tells me it's probably the Winchester ammo. Test the ammo in another gun if you can, or buy different ammo and try it in your Mark IV. Either way will give you the answer you seek.
Perfect thread to hijack
My c**t neighbor doesn't get her cats spayed/neutered and it's turned into just shy of an infestation. Something needs to be done about it and poisoning causes needless suffering. I plan of baiting them into my backyard over the next few months and when the weather warms up a bit, I'll do some roof top sitting over night and start to pick them off.
The issue is I live in city limits and can't shoot in my backyard. I have no neighbors behind me so it's safe to shoot back there. The solution, suppressed .22lr subsonic.
I need suggestions on a good .22 for the task. I'm leaning towards the standard 10/22, but maybe do an Israeli SR-22 "knee capper" clone.
I'll also need some cheaper night vision scope. One with that dumb IR illuminator will be fine.
Suggest some products for me to consoooom
Get an airgun with a built in suppressor and a Hav A Hart trap. Set it out in the daytime with some food and check it every so often. That's what I'm fixing to do about the urban feral kitty infestation that has killed every fricking thing around, including the egrets down by the river, and makes it impossible for me to walk in my own fricking yard without tracking in kitty shit. Frick these furry velociraptors. And frick those chicks next door for feeding them.
Anyway. That's my plan of vengeance.
Id much rather have an excuse to put together a new gun tbh, but I'll consider the pellet gun.
So to make things more interesting, a fire truck passed by last night revealing a pack of coyotes that moved in near the pond at the end of my road (less than 1/4mi) they're shit hunters from what I understand, so I doubt they'll handle my cat problem. But if they do decide to wander into the neighborhood, I'm sure I'll be the one to have to handle that as well. I'm rural enough, I could probably get away with using one of my ARs, immediately followed by a call to the town PD to notify them of the gunshots and why. This neighborhood is getting a little exciting

Or instead of being a murderous c**t you could trap the cats and take them to your local Humane Society and donate the money you'd spend on a gun to the shelter.
Your God does not exist. All Gods are coping mechanisms embraced by people too weak to otherwise cope with the concept that there is no "fairness" to anything. There is no greater purpose or meaning or cause or calling. There is only this brief existence we call life. And because it is brief and because it is the only thing we have it is the most precious thing in the whole of the world. And so we should be kind to eachother, we should treat eachother with patience and love first. Belief in God and an afterlife gives people an excuse to be absolute fricking c**ts. "I just have to repent for my sins." "I just have to believe in Jesus as my savior." "I just have to follow the rulebook." etc. Instead of "I need to treat other human beings with dignity and respect and love them like myself to make the world a place that is full of beauty and worth living in so the next generation can make it even more wonderful and so on."
Except for murderers pedophiles rapists and theives; they should all be fed into wood chippers and made into fertilizer as that is the only way in which they will be of real benefit to society and the world.

You guys are misunderstanding me. This is an infestation. There are well over 25 cats in this immediate area. I don't like killing things. I catch my indoor spiders and put them outside for God's sake. Animal control is useless and I have 2 of their traps on the side of my house where they never followed up to take them back.
I know which two of these cats are hers and I won't be killing any of her actual pets. They're ferral strays killing everything they see and are just a general nuisance.
Like I said, i don't want to poison them and cause needless suffering. This is the most humane solution to the problem.
So before you get all uppity and get your panties wrapped around your testicle, consider I've exhausted all other options and this is the only sensible thing remaining. I don't mind one or 2 cats hanging out in the neighborhood, but 20+, come on.
You are correct. I did misunderstand you. Feral domestic cats are a menace and unfortunately in most situations the only reasonable solution is extirpation.
Just try to make clean kills.
If you want something accurate as all get out; go with a CZ457. Get the "Jaguar" if you want some black comedy to go with your feral felling. It has a long sight radius and a threaded barrel. Even without a suppressor it's silly quiet with things like CCI Quiet rounds.
Good luck and good hunting Anon.
Just report your neighbor to animal control before she figures out that you are killing her cats, calls the cops on you first, and you get charged with felony animal cruelty. A lot of municipalities legally allow outdoor cats to roam off leash, so maybe try researching your local laws and investing in a fence, or at least some sort of scent-based repellent, before you do something stupid and ruin your life because you want to frick with your neighbor like a dumb Black person.

Pretty much. Bunch of pussies around here that think a ferral cat is some kind of pet. How are they gunna larp 'muh civil' war, but have the complete inability to shoot a pest? I wonder if they'd feel better if I donate the carcasses to the local Chinese food joint so the meat doesn't go to waste.
>I catch my indoor spiders and put them outside
Anon you heartless animal, spiders are mans best frens, frankly they should wear capes because they are superheroes. If you don't have spiders in your home then you have other bugs, the indoor spiders whole job, his purpose in life, is to keep your house clear of other bugs.
And you put them outside? to an environment the arent suited for, to die a slow horrible painful death.
Shame, anon, shame.
Ty anon, i think we can be frens again. They have so many babies you don't really need all of them as many will just starve. So it's fine to do some culling.

I'm interested in the S&W M&P 22 Mag pistol, anyone have any experience? Was gonna get the new 380 80x Cheeta but the M&P's 30rd capacity and less likelihood of over penetration seems like the better option for first handgun for home defense.
I agree, metric is the GOAT! it is too bad we can’t make everything base ten: 100 seconds in a min, 100 min in an hour, 20 hours a day….

Works just fine in my single six plus no lead residue :^)
Post groups with it from your single six, preferably groups shot at 20 or 30 yards.
If this thread is up then still sure, Ive found its as accurate as I am and I can do like sub 2 inch groupings easily at 75 feet offhand standing with my horrible astigmatism. I really need to get an optic to really do better I think.
Sorry up on Saturday still, thats the next time Im going
The posts I come to /k/ for.
If you could make .22LR go 20,000fps it wouldn't matter if you couldn't hit anything with it.
most deadly caliber
A good quality 11.5 sbr ar-15 platform with this caliber shall never let you down even in the darkest of ammo crunchs, nor great depressions, also a great indicator of when it will all be falling down if 22 lr becomes 50 cents a rd or 1$ a rd you know its ogre.
I have a spare pistol lower, so I'm kinda torn between buying a 22lr upper or one of those CMMG conversion kits for my main AR. I've heard those 22lr conversion kits for ARs and AKs can eventually clog your gas ports with lead fouling.
no that'd be 9mm
I'm pretty sure you're only suppose to use jacketed rounds in conversion kits for that reason. Although idk if that completely solves the issue.
>jacketed 22lr
That copper washed round on the right of the OP pic isn't really a "jacket." It's more like a thin coating meant for lubricity.
Frick ya mudda
It's the COAT.
Im looking for a good 22 for hunting. Any recommendations? I already do own a CZ 452 and a 10/22 that im considering, though neither of them have iron sights which seems like a big plus in case the glass breaks. The 10/22 sadly has pretty miserable accuracy too event hough it has a bull barrel.
take the cowboy pill and get a lever
God I love lever guns but something about loading the tube instead of loading from the side of the receiver just ruins the feel for me
the Henry was tube loaded so don't let it ruin the feel too much for you
Oh I am aware of that its just something about that side loading feeling that I really love about them.
I like both mag types but frick does it annoy me that no one makes a loading gate .22 as well.
In your opinion, what's the best 22lr lever gun?
browning bl22 because I have one
Don't know if it's truly the best but I like it and I've always seen it highly recommended whenever the topic of 22lr lever guns is brought up
I bought a ruger mark iv target (pic rel) a while back and I've only shot white box Winchester .22 through it. having a higher than expected failure rate. I'm talking sometimes 3 rounds in a 10 round mag. the dud rounds do seem to have a good strike mark on the rim. sometimes if I feed them back in a second time they will fire. is there something wrong with my striker or is it the ammo?
Could be either, try different ammo. In my Mark II I have maybe 1 ejection issue every 15 rounds but I've yet to have a failure to fire, shooting almost only CCI Standards
couldn't even find a pic of it online lol here is what I've been shooting, gone through around 750 rounds. some days I barely have any duds, some days I have more.
bought the same gun last year, I'm through over half a box of federal blue box and I think I've had exactly one stovepipe and that's it.
Its the ammo bby.
Winchester nono cci mini and 40g copper through my target w/vq upper is honestly a pleasure to shoot 0 failures 800rds the other day
Experience tells me it's probably the Winchester ammo. Test the ammo in another gun if you can, or buy different ammo and try it in your Mark IV. Either way will give you the answer you seek.
Yeah
Seconded. Post moar 22s.
Been entertaining the idea of putting a red dot on this, but most likely won't.
Do it phaggot
The Lobos mount is only $45 bro CAAAM ANNN
Do it
Perfect thread to hijack
You're better off with a PCP Pellet rifle.
>Hav A Hart trap
Shooting fish in a barrel isn't having a heart anon. Youve gotta snipe them out when they don't know it's comin', like God intended.
Or instead of being a murderous c**t you could trap the cats and take them to your local Humane Society and donate the money you'd spend on a gun to the shelter.
>God gave man dominion over animals
>cats are murderous c**ts as-is
you're one of those rescue people with 17 cats at all times, aren't you?
TOTAL
FELINE
DETERRENCE
Pretty much. Bunch of pussies around here that think a ferral cat is some kind of pet. How are they gunna larp 'muh civil' war, but have the complete inability to shoot a pest? I wonder if they'd feel better if I donate the carcasses to the local Chinese food joint so the meat doesn't go to waste.
>Bunch of pussies around here that think a ferral cat is some kind of pet.
They're broken little b***hes. I care about cats as much as other cats care about them. No one is better than nature.
>And you put them outside? to an environment the arent suited for
I keep one bathroom and living room spider if that makes me look like less of a heartless Black person. They don't pay rent, I can't keep them all.
Ty anon, i think we can be frens again. They have so many babies you don't really need all of them as many will just starve. So it's fine to do some culling.
I'm interested in the S&W M&P 22 Mag pistol, anyone have any experience? Was gonna get the new 380 80x Cheeta but the M&P's 30rd capacity and less likelihood of over penetration seems like the better option for first handgun for home defense.
