The Glock pistol is a meme and a scam.

The Glock pistol is a meme and a scam. You're not actually supposed to buy it as your range gun that you put thousands of rounds through. Yes it's a brilliant pistol but it really is a 75$ pistol being sold for 550 dollars. Glock was able to saturate the market because the pistol ended up becoming extremely reliable and effective, and because it's cheap to produce he was able to wedge his way in and practically give them away for free.

This is why I always avoided Glock because I suspected that was the situation, then I bought one and I have no love for it. You have to come to terms with the fact that it's literally a semi-disposable concept like aluminum AR-15 magazines. This pistol has no charm aside from practicality and utility. The only reason to buy it is for defense or if you're Law Enforcement/Military and you're getting a good deal. From a connoisseur's perspective, buy something like a Beretta 92 or any other pistol that has charm.

Glock is popular because it is safe, reliable, and effective. All the things a gun should be. All the crap you care about, like the company's profit margin (protip: everybody makes money on guns, otherwise they would go out of business), aesthetics, and other trash doesn't matter at all.

What pisses me off about glock cultists is how they stick their nose up in the air for buying one. Reminds me exactly of Toyota owners who think they're fucking geniuses because they "chose" Toyota over any other brand as if it's some deep secret that Toyota's are reliable. Buying a toyota or glock is the most pleb take you can do, you're announcing to the world that you're an NPC. I deliberately avoid Toyota because they're so fucking ugly or boring looking. Look at the small v6 Toyota Tacoma that they used to sell, everyone jerks off to it but that is not an attractive vehicle it's very superficial in appearance, it has no depth like the Glock.

I think the $500 I paid is fair for how excellent the gun is. It's not a lot of money.

The 92FS much like the majority of gun designs doesn't have much wrong with it from a technical standpoint, but from a realistic standpoint there are corners that got cut.

                just to compare
                >92S and 92FS
Mine made in 1982 versus the other one made in 2022

                >the 92FS aluminum receiver has a gritty texture pseudo-parkerized finish that both looks, feels, and wear like a cheap asphalt road on the metal-on-metal contact surfaces
                >Both Berettas may last 50,000 rounds, but mine halfway there with a fresh recoil spring feels like cutting through butter while racking the slide
                >the 92FS made this year will still after 25,000 rounds have that gritty feeling in the slide's reciprocation or hopefully the factory finish stripped off after wearing out, because racking a gritty slide is the least reassuring feeling in the world with a gun
                >The 92S came with magazines made to last as long as the pistol did, no parts of the gun are made out of plastic barring the grip panels, and everything has a slick feeling of perfectly harmonized metal surfaces on other metal surfaces working in unison to feed another lead pill to the target every shot.
                >the 92FS magazine uses a cheap, gritty plastic follower in a magazine held together with a cheap plastic baseplate; both of which will break or cause jams eventually and need to be replaced(your gun's reliability is now subscription based)
                >the 92S trigger is match-tier in single action after the quick and smooth take-up
                >the 92FS trigger is just like the rest of the gun, mass-produced, unpolished, gritty, and with a few plastic parts where it matters

                [...]
The problem with your argument is that your reason why "shit works" is the exact reason shit fails.

                >The problem with your argument is that your reason why "shit works" is the exact reason shit fails.
No, it's not. That's what happens when you ignore material sciences and engineering in favor of artistic value and aesthetics. You get crap that doesn't work.

There's a reason everyone copied Glock. It's because Glock made a safer, more reliable, more durable gun.

How does having more plastic make glocks explode less?

It depends when you pick on up, buy the one with the clean trigger and smooth slide, and good crown. Also I'm not going to compliment plastic followers but I think they really do last the life of the pistol. Maybe. I bet you can order steel replacements.

I'm searching around for them. I even put in a question on Beretta's contact page.
It's honestly a long shot. I think they just want to sell cheap stuff since they're no longer king of government contracts.
The world is going in a big recession, it makes sense they're trying to downsize their costs and maximize their profits while riding out their reputation for as long as it lasts.

One of the main reasons sub-80 IQ baiters like the other anon suck on glocks is because the magazines are so cheap that they never have enough ammo to wear them out, even if they only last half as long Beretta magazines.

If you want to talk about a scam, look no further than the p320. You can have all the modularity you desire for the price of a new handgun. The only real useful thing is changing out the frame because their so cheap. Anything else meaningful like barrels, slides, and magazines would cost you the same if you just bought a different gun with the specifications you desire.

I’ve come to nearly the same conclusion years ago.
It’s a “fleet car” kind of gun, that should be bought in bulk. That being said, a lot of people buy trucks, cars, and vans that would normally be fleet vehicles for their own small business or whatnot, and glocks are no different in that regard.
You may not get a bargain deal on one but it’ll take care of you if you use it right.

And that's my point exactly. But further, I was trying to establish that the love of glocks is a delusion, it's just too cheap to love. Everything about it is cheap, they even ship with plastic sights (I have the Ameriglo on mine, I honestly don't give a shit I still don't like the pistol). Don't waste your ammo on a glock, just put 300 to 500 rounds through it to break it in, make sure it functions fine, and that's it.

Buy a real gun like a 92 for the range and don't sell it.

    It's accurate and shoots great.
Guns nowadays are all either disposable government contract trash or trash meant for civilians who think this "never been dun befo" gun is worth their hard earned money.

Every company is trying to do the least amount of work possible for the most amount of profit possible.
Only when a company is apart of a nation with spirit and faith does something quality get produced, and every country in the west is a spiritless, faithless shell of their former nationalistic prides.

High quality post. What's wrong with the 92fs pistols though? Anyway I was looking at the PX4 storms at cabela's and every one had a shitty crown, one of the crowns was lopsided! The 92fs had a nice crown and looks/felt like quality but I don't know.

The 92FS much like the majority of gun designs doesn't have much wrong with it from a technical standpoint, but from a realistic standpoint there are corners that got cut.

        just to compare
        >92S and 92FS
Mine made in 1982 versus the other one made in 2022
        >The Aluminum receiver of mine has a shiny black-ivory like molecularly bonded paint finish that after thousands and thousands of rounds hasn't worn off except where it sat in a police holster for 20 years before it was surplus'd out to me.
        >the 92FS aluminum receiver has a gritty texture pseudo-parkerized finish that both looks, feels, and wear like a cheap asphalt road on the metal-on-metal contact surfaces

        This entire post is retarded.
        >Every company is trying to do the least amount of work possible for the most amount of profit possible.
Yes, that's called engineering and it's why shit works. It's a good thing morons like you aren't in charge of anything at all, because it would fail miserably.

The problem with your argument is that your reason why "shit works" is the exact reason shit fails.

            Hello Signore Beretta,
please send me 7 Beretta 92 magazines.
I want the 15 round ones with the aluminum baseplate and follower please, with the S heel cut please.
            Thank you.

It depends when you pick on up, buy the one with the clean trigger and smooth slide, and good crown. Also I'm not going to compliment plastic followers but I think they really do last the life of the pistol. Maybe. I bet you can order steel replacements.

This will continue to be my only pistol unless I decide I want a large caliber meme or come into owning something with a fun switch. I don't see a point in getting something fancy. If I wanted something to show off at a range I'd get a Famas.

just picked up my first glock (a 21 gen 4) for 250$ plus 3 mags, a hardcase, and a trigger lock together. Unmarred nitride coating, barrel looks good rifling is sharp no frame cracks. Mathematically I paid for a 155$ glock (in great condition) by itself 30 minutes ago.

You just got to be smarter than the swarms of consoomers out there that want exactly the thing they want and are willing to pay crazy prices to get it.
    I own:
    Ruger p89dc = 240$
    Tisas 1911 Duty SS = 420$
    Glock 21 = 250$
some rando brand .38 special revolver that shoots great = 210$
I own more like this but you get the point.

They have .22LR ruger revolvers in there for like 120$ too.
Only store I've seen that doesn't try to stein you out of as much money as they can, the opposite in fact.

    >Glock was able to saturate the market because the pistol ended up becoming extremely reliable and effective

How can you write this and still not understand why people buy glocks? would you buy a Ferrari to commute to work every day? Nah you would buy some shitbox soulless Toyota/Honda that is reliable, inexpensive, with a ubiquitous parts market.

    >then I bought one and I have no love for it

I don't own a glock for love. I own a glock because it's simply the best tool when everything is factored in (price, reliability, ubiquity of part/accessories.)

Correct, kind of. Glocks are $650 for civiliantards, ~$300 or less for police/military. They get so many contracts because they're made so cheaply, not because they're reliable because they're absolutely not. Police videos prove this, and they've had plenty of mishaps like lights making the gun jam or the gun fucking blowing up. These are a cheap ass gun, and you're retarded if you can't tell. They removed the slide release and turned it into a "slide stop" that they don't even bother to knurl on top so it's slippery. Plastic sights, plastic guide rods, plastic locking point for the plastic mags, holy hell this thing is a POS. On top of that it's a striker fire, they even cheaped out on the action. If you're insistent on plastic striker fire guns at least get an FNS/FN509 that isn't cheaped out to shit. It actually retains a lot of features that handguns are supposed to have like metal parts a slide release designed to be used as a slide release.

glocks have always been HIGHLY-mediocre handguns with a really good marketing campaign behind them.
Glocks have an iconic minimalist look and pop-culture allure, but that's about it. M&P Shields and PDP's and Arex Delta's are way way way better than Glocks are, and for half the price usually.

I don't buy range guns. I like my guns to have practical utility and nothing beats the glock in that category. If someone buys a range gun I think that's awesome but not all of us can afford to aquire a bunch of guns for fun. Plus a glock will do everything a m9 can do but it's lighter, more simple and less expensive.
