The future of Russian kit

Following their massive losses in Ukraine, are Russian arms going to lose all credibility going forward?

>Mexico acquired it's Russian helicopter via an impromptu trade agreement after Russia took out a loan to purchase oil drilling equipment from Mexico. After Russia could not make the agreed upon payments to Mexico in either US dollars or Mexican pesos an agreement was brokered where Russia would settle the debt with a direct trade of vehicles and food products. Mexico was repaid with several dozen military helicopters, amphibious vehicles, and multiple cargo vessels loaded with vodka and seafood. Much of the seafood spoiled in transit and the Mexican government refused to accept it. Russia agreed to pay the remainder of the balance with two Mi26 heavy lift helicopters. Russia agreed it would take back the spoiled seafood and dispose of it properly. Instead, the food was dumped by Russian sailors off the coast of Cozumel causing short term environmental damage. The odor of the several hundred tonnes of rotten seafood could be detected on shore 5 kilometers away. The aircraft currently sit unused in Mexico as Russia has struggled to reliably supply vital engine parts. Russia has claimed that the maintenance contract with Mexico is not valid.

>Following the collapse of the Russian economy, debts to South Korea were also defaulted on. An agreement was worked out where South Korea would receive armored military vehicles, cooking oil, petroleum products, grain, and beef. Much of the beef was determined unsuitable for human consumption and was processed as animal feed. The vehicles were found to be of lower perceived quality than those operated by the Republic of Korea army by then and were put into auxiliary use as reserve and training vehicles. It is suspected that several were sold to the United States and China where they were disassembled and studied. Russia has repeatedly lobbied for their return, claiming that it was an unfair trade brokered in bad faith.

No matter how much money the US prints, the dollar will never be worth less than russian vehicles.

The seafood was spoiled before it was first put on the ship. They don't throw that shit away. It is just saved up for an occasion where they can p[awn it off on someone else.

Honestly these weapons should be handed over to the Ukrainians as a big "frick you" to Russia.

there was also the time russia paid debts to finland with tors and after a thorough evaluation, the finns concluded the launchers were too insecure to put on their network and could not possibly be made secure and destroyed them

Is there anything post USSR that other countries would want from Russia unironically? Russian vodka is tainted with methanol, russian prostitutes has HIV and is on Krokodil, russian AN-94 have QC problems, even "brand new" mig-29 are basically remanufactured airframes passed off as new airframes

Russia uses HAL engine cores manufactured in India for their export model Sukhois and most of the electronics and composites on high spec Sukhois are made in China and just integrated in Russia. The highest spec Su27/Su30 family jets are full of French, Belgian, Israeli, and Chinese parts. Most think current service Chink J11 units are superior to the Su27 and that the J16 and India built Su30s are superior to Russian models. IIRC, Mexico backed out of their Su30 purchase because they lost example dogfights to low spec Brazilian spec Gripens.

Not quite right. Mexico wanted to buy a weird unique Sukhoi model. Basically a bare bones Su27 but with some advanced Israeli electronic warfare system and targeting pod but with canards like on the Su33. The Mexican navy has always had ambitions of acquiring a cheap aircraft carrier like Brazil to protect their oil fields. They want cheap frames but with high end western electronics. Like Malaysian spec Su30 buy cheaper. Not a bad strategy tbh. It'd basically be like how the UAE stuck a BMP3 turret on a Patria AMV. They made a better choice and spent that money on developing a series of domestically produced frigates with the Dutch.

Mexico didn't buy Sukhois because they were offered the Rafale at an equitable price, but then the recession happened so their budget was halved and they built a domestic shipbuilding industry instead. Better investment tbh.

Russia was never credible except for that brief time during the Khruschev era where they gave industralists and tradies some leeway.

Yes. Also almost nobody will be interested doing business with Russia.

We in Brazil got some russian helicopters. When they broke down we had money on hand to buy spare parts but Russia couldn't supply them.

Credibility was already gone. What is being destroyed now is the reputation for combat power that barely survived the first Gulf War.
