The truth. The 90s ended on 9/11 instantaneously. We had to eat "freedom fries" and observe a moment of silence for a few years. Couldn't take your friends all the way to the boarding gate at the airport anymore. Most concerning, though, was that the collective feeling in the air changed. It hasn't been right since.

I guess this is supposed to be some sort of ebin contrarian sarcasm post or something. But P90 is a super, super fun gun to shoot and if one ever gets the chance to rent at a range or a friend has one well worth it. Ergos are perfectly pleasant if different. A few /k/ommandos have them and like them. I bet it'd be even more fun with select fire. It's just the ammo is quite pricey for what it is and always will be, and the PCC/SMG niche has shrunk quite a bit even from when it was designed. Not like it isn't functional though.

Its pretty good. Weighs as much as a MP5 loaded with a 30rd mag but has 20 more rounds on tap and is much more compact when held in the firing position. Its a simple blowback operation so it requires little in lubrication and has a dust cover ejection door that can be closed to keep debris out. Original optics use mirrors to keep the height over bore down to a minimum and is quicker to take apart than a AUG.

Ammo is what it is, high speed, low recoil, and expensive. Perfect for a PDW but not so much for a door kicker assaulting fortified positions.

      Anonymous

      >so it requires little in lubrication
Worth noting the ammo itself does need to be lubricated for the feed. That's part of the reason it will always be more expensive.

        Anonymous

Its no different than lacquer coated steel cased stuff. Only issue arising from that is just needing to be a little more thorough when it comes to cleaning the chamber. And I'm pretty sure its only certain FN boxed ammo that uses the coating, American Eagle (aka Fiocchi) doesn't use it hence the cheaper price.

I liked the original SG movie but had no cable or most channels as a kid so never watched more then a few dozen semi-disconnected SG1 episodes. Out of curiosity by whenever that was were they starting to hybridize/enhance any earth tech? Like use alien super materials in their bullets or something with otherwise the same gun? I know later on they started doing human designed spacecraft at least that were a mashup of technologies.

Firearms stay superior to staff weapons throughout the whole series.
I think there are one or two civilian tech advancements mentioned during the series, and the military does several developments out of alien tech throughout the show, but I think the most prominent ones in SG1 are reverse engineering Death Gliders into a human-equivalent space-capable fighter and the FTL-capable ships Earth develops with the Asgard's help.

A full-auto weapon at 20" OAL with very little recoil and a 50 round mag will always be a good gun to have. It's also ready to shoulder at that length, which is something most designs don't even try to work around and end up with a moronic folding stock.

        Anonymous

        >which is something most designs don't even try to work around and end up with a moronic folding stock.

The big problem is needing to accommodate for the space to deploy it. A ready-to-go configuration doesn't need you to hold it away from the body until it's locked in. It's one motion from slung to aimed and it takes less than a second. I think being shoulderable from its most concealable configuration is one of the most important features to a PDW because the idea should be that you can shoot it at a moment's notice.

The p90 looks like that because is a perfect balance of industrial pragmatism , dictated by mere ergonomy , in which form follows function.

It came in an era before the advent of strapping Rails to every side of everysingle gun that hit the market became commonplace , before every company started abortinghis own shitty AR clone , or a transformer-like bulky mountruosity

reasonable critizism is its very niche inteded use , the straighwall casing (wich is teflon coated to aid extraction) and its limited supply/avaliability of ammunition

would you choose to critizise the fs200 you would be 100 correct , herstal went full moron with that one

The P90's user interface is bad—the safety is clumsy for right-handed (i.e., most) shooters, the charging handle and mag release are undersized, the ambi BUIS (!) are nearly unusable and pointless for the guns intended POU anyway, and the stock feels weird and...lumpy in hand. Anyone with experience on literally any other rifle will have to convince themselves to like it.

I have the illuminated one on mine. FN recently changed the mold for the upper receiver tho and thickened it up in some areas so I had to shave a section away to fit it properly. Yours also appears to be the newer receiver so it will need the same treatment unless you can somehow find a non-electronic fiberoptic one with dead tritium.

I have the tritium black ring sight on mine. Tritium still glows enough in no light situations for now. Not really a fan on how low these optics sit because I gotta squeeze my fat head down to see it clearly. And I have to do this without doing the head wienered forward AR-15 stance or else I'm just pushing on the magazine and can induce failures to feed. Probably jerry rig a offset optic on the side rail to sit higher and use the ring sight as back up one of these days.

      >What do you guys use as your PS90 optics?
I threw an EXPS on the stock rail on mine but the height-over-bore is fricking insane. Gonna try and get a low mount but I dunno what I'm gonna put on it yet.

or one of those magazine couplers that lets you use the second mag as a stock riser

My nephew has a Kingsview battery-powered ring sight on his, if I had one I'd probably go with a 1.5× ACOG in a Tros USA ultra-low mount.

I saw one once at a gun store probably 15 years ago. It wasn't fun, but I recall thinking the trigger guard was hideous.

I have an MK2... I do not trust this pistol. I have had more malfunctions with this pistol than any other firearm I own. I can't bring myself to sell it because i don't want to curse anyone else.

Get the S&W, Ruger or even PSA.

would you still do it if he were spewing senile liberal gibberish about how putting a stock on a pistol makes it into a gun and you can have a rifle caliber that's way more caliber and blows the lungs out etc. the whole time

I just sent off my barrel to TROSUSA to have him cut it down, anyone got an idea of what his turnaround has been like recently? Just curious, I know I've seen plenty of people crying about him taking forever to get around to theirs but it's not too big a deal imo.

You should have just bought a CMMG barrel broski. You won't see it for atleast 9 months

        Anonymous

Eh, when I decided to cut the flash hider off (quite a while ago I'm a lazy frick) I couldn't find the CMMG barrels in stock anywhere, and they cost a bit more anyways.
If I gotta wait 9 months so be it.

The future isn't going to be 'le ebin spayse gonnes!'. It's going to be a return to comfy guns, like this little beauty that takes everything your SGC blaster does and wraps it up in a neat little package you can bring home to meet your parents.

Sad the K11 got the same treatment. Some day, this shit will actually work, given that the DoD's been fussing with the idea since the early '60s at least.

Isn't the 10/22 barrel just clamped onto the front of the receiver with a little screw?

        Anonymous

The new 10/22's have a high ass tolerance when it comes to their barrels and dove sights if it's anything like the last barrel I had to remove it took 3 days of ugga dugga and ruining the old barrel in the process to get it out of the receiver.

The only reason the p90 never took off was cost, and nfa cuckery.
If it wasn't targeted squarely at militaries and leos, it would have taken off way more for stuff like home defense.
