The coming recession is going to be unbelievably brutal

You will literally question every single assumption you’ve ever made about society, everything you take for granted will come into the spotlight. You’re going to realize how fragile the modern world actually is, how much of the “wealth” we have is actually fake, how little you are actually worth when the United States government stops propping you up in the global economy.

This will be the “return the mean” dump of first world living standards to the rest of the globe’s living standards. It’s going to be so bad that I get stomach pains thinking about it.

The fed can’t save us this time.

No, not just for the freak shows. That is a psychological coping mechanism, “only the freak shows will get burnt, I’m useful!”

I’m so sorry to have to tell you this, but it will be everyone in the west. And everything you take for granted will be challenged. The 8 hour workday, the value of certain jobs, the ability to be able to put a tank of gas in your vehicle after an honest day’s work, the ability to get all sorts of complicated foods seemingly on demand, the ability to have 24/7 electricity access with very rare interruptions. All of it will come into question during the coming crisis. There’s no one to foot the bill this time, there’s no one to prop up western standards of living anymore, the infrastructure doesn’t exist to have so many people leeching.

Don’t get me wrong, there are of course highly intelligent, productive, westerners; but they are vastly outnumbered. The fed put in 2008 that saved the western financial system isn’t possible this time, they’ve been backed into a corner and there’s no way out this time. It’s going to be a tragedy playing out in real time.

everyone in the "west" is either a gender ambivalent goy cattle or a virtue signalling larper rooting for the current thing. They will all burn - it couldn't have happened to a nicer people too.

or they can just switch to a new monetary system just like they did with the rentenmark and move on from the dead dollar. it's a monetary problem not a problem of production. if the system fails the arbitrage will be extremely swift and those who take advantage of it will become very wealthy

          >or they can just switch to a new monetary system
This would require cancellation of all US debt. For a while people thought that impossible US can renege on debt but all the anti-China rhetoric might simply be the beginning of that.
I think China and Russia predict this, which is why they are starting to set up their own separate global south economy, which is what the US wants too.
We'll see two trading blocs, with their own reserve currency. The newUSD and probably CNY.
Big problem for the western countries will be who will produce anything? they are so used to consooming.
Global south won't have this problem.

            Anonymous

It wouldn't. One of the whole reasons of moving to a new monetary system is to avoid defaulting on your old debts. Switch to the new monetary system. Old bonds are payable in old monetary bills. But guess what those old bills are worthless now and you can buy trillions of them for cheap to pay off your old bills. Your old debters are totally screwed but they can't claim that you defaulted because you technically didn't.

            Anonymous

You are both ignorant and delusional.
You are suggesting that the U.S. should abandon the dollar because of two-digit annual inflation? That's ridiculous. If you're so worried about your savings, just find proper hedging againt inflation.
Inflation can be easily tamed with a bit of of monetary tightening and fiscal restraint. Energy prices will inevitably stabilize and Chinese industrial production will rebound as soon as they get out of their stupid lockdowns.
Some recessive measures are already in place - such as rate hikes - and the Fed is planning quantitative tightening for the next semester.
As for the breakdown of international trade, it won't happen at any revolutionary scale. U.S. consumers are too dependent on Chinese imports and the Chinese are too dependent on American income.
And suggesting that the most important financial center in the world would just "erase debt" is just Graeber's fever dream.

Unless some cataclysm happens, there's literally no reason for this to take place anytime soon as our current issues stem in monetary policies and not actual issues with productivity. There is a decrease in productivity on a global scale due to the Russia-Ukraine war but that is minor. It won't lead to the collapse of society as we know it.

I've been thinking about this for a while. Americans have been living above their productivity level for decades now due to "Dollar Privilege." I think Americans will see a 30% downward correction in lifestyle to be more on par with, let's say, the current lifestyle of britbongs. Britbongs are useless and will have their lifestyles downgraded to something on par with, let's say, Romania.

We're not useless, but we are extremely poor. Its hilarious listening to people call the West s'oy.

Yes, some are, but the vast vast majority are destitute, violent, drug addicted proles that live in complete squalor with zero to little education, shuffling around filthy, crumbling cities whilst the State crushes their neck at every opportunity.

    Alternative take:

America and the UK are going to go through hard times but will ultimately be alright (at least economically) due to having natural resources to keep things going. America has its own oil and gas, and the UK can supply itself with Nuclear power and wind turbines (etc, being one of the few countries that can realistically use such technology thanks to the weather).

It's disappointing but this to me seems the most likely result. Other countries that depend on energy resources will fight it out, starve, etc, and America / UK will puppeteer it all whilst staying relatively unscathed. There'll be social unrest from all the immigrants in the country, but no more than what is already happening.

China / Russia / India will not get along as planned because there won't be the stability needed to make their relationship work in the long run.

In ten years America and the UK will be even more totalitarian but won't have the means to really dominate society. Instead the populace will submit in part, but will also just not obey the law. The key difference between now and then is that any semblance of a fair society will be gone even for normies who should aready know better.

I just don't see where the value production from the UK is? Like what does the UK do or create other thank banking? Although maybe banking is enough. The UK's 360 year history of uninterrupted governance and rule of law does make it "investment grade." Only other countries that come close are US and Switzerland.

The UK has intelligent workers. It also has a tight political and financial institution. It is extremely corrupt and is run by pedo satanic freemasons, but that is also where it gets its core power. The remoteness of the UK being an island gives it strategic superiority from the rest of Europe. We don't get tornados, or earthquakes. There's plenty of water and rain. It's extremely hospitable.

It was a mistake letting so many immigrants in, and I think that's really going to come back to bite the government eventually. The UK won't be destroyed by another nation, but it will likely be destroyed from the inside due to a corrupt population that hates its government.

          >It is extremely corrupt

I would argue England is the most corrupt nation on the planet, far more than America. In the US you have Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and others that will actually ask difficult and legitimate questions. We have NOTHING like this in England, our entire parliament cheered and gave a standing ovation for the globalist puppet Zelensky, and gave them $15 billion more than your government.

Deeply corrupt and evil. Ground zero for globohomo.

No, no one will be held accountable. England is a plot of land run by psychopaths that crush the enslaved population. Everywhere is filthy, everyone is poor, the government does nothing but destroy the lives of ordinary people. We have a greater population density than Hong Kong.

Name it and its shit. Transport, housing, food, healthcare, culture, jobs, taxes, justice. All of it is completely and utterly fricked up. All of it.

Every single interaction I've had with the government has been overwhelming negative

I read that the UK government is sending 1500 male migrants to a village of 700 people. is that true?

Yes, its a village up north, but its happening everywhere. All young men from violent third world states, with no money, no education and no prospects being dumped in villages and towns everywhere.

Its bio-leninism on a national scale. All checks on the migrants background have been declared illegal. Checking for their age is illegal. It turned out men in their 30s and 40s were put into classrooms because checking their age was illegal. Men with grey beards in schools. It led to issues.

Rand Paul and Ted Cruz go on really awkward and out of place rampages from seemingly nowhere. Media clips them down to just the part where they "call out so and so" so it doesn't seem awkward. Then they go do their weekly rounds on shows and shows that don't get to have them on do a copycat of "Jake Paul reacts to videos" for grown men with families.

Crypto follows these same rules, but has access to even more consumer data as a whole. These rabbit holes on the internet exist to keep people stupid and busy.

Theirs generational 10-50x over the next 10-20 years all over the stock market right now. China stock trading at 20 year lows, atleast a dozen stupidly safe 10 billion dollar biotech companies sitting under 500 million market cap. It's unbelievable.

Maybe they are ineffective, but at least they are allowed to speak. We have nothing even pretending to be opposition in England. Every single MP is in favour of mass uncontrolled immigration, every single one.

If living standards do dump I hope all the pajeets go back to their countries.

              >I hope all the pajeets go back to their countries.

They wont. They are the poorest, most dysgenic, and were effectively kicked out from their original nations. Those nations wont accept them back. We are stuck with them.

A week before the war in Ukraine started, Shell and UK officials made an announcement about a giant submarine oil field discovered in the british waters. Potentially one of the largest ever.

Nothing is happening by chance. The brexit, the stopping of civil nuclear contracts with the french giant Veolia, the loss of Nordstream 2, the voided Contracts with Total-Fina-Elf after they financed the russian gas supertankers and icebreakers, the crimean oil fields...

The biggest losers will objectively be Euroanons. Europe in it's entirety is subsidized by the US, Russia, and China. With Russia being moronic, China slowing down, and the US becoming more tight around their budget in the future, European way of life will change drastically and negatively compares to now

The unabated flood of refugees into Europe will eat them alive from the inside out. Just look at London.

Thankfully America has room for our foreign hordes and an ocean to separate us from Africa. We only need to deal with wetbacks while Europe has to deal with the entire rest of the world

At least wetbacks work (and quite hard doing jobs Americans don't want) and are (nominally) Catholic. European migrants are literal welfare kinds and queens, many of whom blow up train stations shouting allahu ahkbar. America got the better deal on that one for sure.

Just wanted to chime in that the black market is doing well right now. This is usually a sign of bad economic times because it signals consumers seeking out cheaper alternatives and both sellers and buyers trying to evade taxes on expensive items.

to some extent, the western standard of living is a result of the preferences, tendencies and talents of the western man. people will not simply forget how to build infrastructure, homes, etc., nor will they just let everything fall apart. even if there's no money, there would be a huge amount of volunteer work. the development of the west happened naturally and very gradually.

This is all hypothetically speaking. But our ability to do all this has been enervated for the last 50+ years by an overweening managerial-therapeutic state. Practical people will learn what they can as they go but the average American today has pathetically meager inner resources compared to one from 100 years ago. The bonds of patrilineal transmission (of a skilled trade, land, religion) have been severed and stable local communities have been decimated. And unfortunately the Amish aren’t set up to Vulcanize rubber or repair high voltage power lines

I think people do definately take for granted a lot of bullshit that they dont realize how much effort and work goes into making it possible

People just turn on the knob in their kitchen expecting clean water will come out- with no regard to the complex system that made this possible

People just expect to be able to go to the grocery store and simply buy whatever they need, not realizing the great lengths of distance those products took to get there, and the complex social systems and labor involved in getting that there

    Point being, people are moronic
