America has its own oil and gas, and the UK can supply itself with Nuclear power and wind turbines (etc, being one of the few countries that can realistically use such technology thanks to the weather).
It's disappointing but this to me seems the most likely result. Other countries that depend on energy resources will fight it out, starve, etc, and America / UK will puppeteer it all whilst staying relatively unscathed.
