The 'T' is for Terminal, anon. The difference is that THAAD has a higher engagement ceiling and is effective against a wider range of targets. Patriot is the point defense system of BMD.

Every single time these types are brought up the context of them being deeply anti-ABM in belief isn't brought up. You could have a 99.8% interception rate and they'd whine that a system is ineffectual because out of 5,000 nukes it shot down 4990 and 10 of them hit NYC, DC and SF.
THAAD also covers much. much wider area around it, Patriot has pretty short range against ballistic missiles.
THAAD is for things like ICBMs and other long range weapons. Not suited for this war when russia is using medium range missiles.
THAAD unfortunately probably can't intercept ICBMs maybe Aegis can. GBMD is the only thing the US has tailor made for ICBMs and they are huge and not even very good afaik.

THAAD is good for attacking traditional MRBM/IRBM but is kinda shit for attacking something like a manverable Khinzal. THAAD-ER with a more powerful 1st stage motor and 2nd stage kick motor has greater divert capability so would no doubt fair better against Khinzals
Because it is made to knock out ICBM's on terminal approach. The utility would be meh because no matter how hard they hyperventilate and threaten it, are not using ICBMs. Stationing them or Some Burkes in Poland/Romania or the black sea respectively would accomplish the same thing.
