Their cheapest sword is like $600. Stop being so butthurt. They’re functional battle-ready swords with no frills

Chinkshit, not even once

I live near one of the most famous EU sword forges and a "cheap" combat ready one is like 2000€. So dont use that thing if you dont want to lose an eye or stab you with one fragment.
There are plenty of decent options in the 4-800 usd range available online that will stand up to use, but obviously they wouldn't be even close to the overall quality of a individual master swordsmiths work, even his most basic option would likely be higher quality than any windlass or other factory amde sword. Manufacturers have however figured out how to make relatively affordable and not completely shit options.
Listen I know sword guys are moronic, I should know I am one. But for the love of God if your going to buy something as incredibly autistic as a sword do a little research. Go to kult of Athena or sword buyers guide and do a little learning, don't buy off Amazon the amount of counterfeit items is way too high. Don't buy a honshu boshin, I've seen breakdowns of the construction and materials and it's an accident waiting to happen. Don't buy any lower quality than sometjing like windlass steelcrafts. Cold steel swords are pushing it. Construction methods and material quality matter a lot with a sword since if it breaks it can cause really serious injury to yourself or whoever else might be in the path of a flying 2 foot long blade section. Lots of artists that buy a cheap sword for funzies have been hospitalized because the shitty booger weld at the tang(like how these are constructed) breaks and flings the blade into thier leg. Doesn't even need to be hitting something, just swinging it can generate enough force to break it. I've seen it happen.
Kult of Athena and Sword Buyers Guide both told me to buy a Honshu Boshin wakizashi. Maybe you should do some research, homosexual. Because Honshu Boshin makes the best of the low end 1060 high carbon beater swords.
>hur Der they sell them so it must be good! >le epic own
Dumbass. They also sell 100 million wallhangers. Keep coping to justify your not only wasteful but incredibly poor purchase. If you want a wall piece that's fine but a
Stop pretending it's anything but a toy you will swish around every other month and.
You're a fricking idiot. It literally is a toy that you will cut bottles and fruit with, you fricking moron. You use it to do test cuts to compliment your HEMA training. It is a supplement to your training and thr majority of your money should be spent on your sparring kit. You absolutely do not spend serious money on your first cutting sword... You get a cheap beater like this fricking thing so you can learn how to sharpen it without destroying the fricking thing. I will reiterate, you are a homosexual and a casual. You do not know what you are talking about.
it's too cheap for it to not be just for decoration. also why carry such long blade while also having a gun, a sturdy under $200 machete would do a better job at close range combat
>it's too cheap for it to not be just for decoration.
i have a 50 amazon musha thats held up to being used like a machete for yardwork cutting 2-3 inch branches. ill admit its not the best katana. the handle wrap came loose out of the box. the saya fit was laughable where it would fallout freely, all the fittings were loose and rattled.
all of this was fixed with glue.
its 1045 and full tang. not the best steel, bare minimum you might say. it still cuts and hasnt bent or snapped being swung into trees waterbottles and other shit.
just cause its not hundreds of dollars doesnt stop it from being functional.
There are a lot of guys in here pretending to know shit, but do not. You can argue, without proof, that a ground down bar of 1045 or 1060 high carbon steel wasn't properly heat treated, but the reality is... It's just a billet or 1045 or 1060 high carbon steel that was taken to the grinder and turned into a sword shape. Anyone that makes arguments to the contrary are just pretentious homosexuals, of which there are many in the sword world.
United Cutlery is an American brand that manufactures swords. Honshu Boshin is a budget brand that makes cheap beater swords without features for the beginner market and is a good option for those just getting into cutting. Get over yourself.
Good enough and just as good are not the same thing. Nobody is claiming that an amazon katana is just as good as some 3k made in japan katana.
However it is good enough to not injure the user and hold up to abuse.
DO NOT FRICKING BUY A CHEAP SWORD
It will snap when you swing it into something and send giant fricking metal shards into your body, people legitimately die that way.
And dont buy something labeled as fricking tactical, buy something historical thats labeled as "authentic" because swords actually worked in the past
Eh, sorta?
They were used for self-defense by some civvies if I recall my history right.
"Cheap" is a bit of a misnomer if you want to get a good sword of _any_ kind these days, senpai.
Anyway, messers are absolutely based as (short?)swords go. >handleability and potential to frick up a dude of, basically, a machete, but with a bit longer reach >not long enough to be unwieldy, can be carried far easier than a longsword or a katana >has a decent guard
The oversized shank is good at doing what it is made for.
They were carried by all kinds of people. Here's one made for Emperor Maximilian.

Talk me out of it
To sum up what I said last time someone asked I've never seen any of their swords in person nor any reviews, but there were plenty of red flags on their website.
Messers are shit because of the knife-style grips compared with actual sword hilts which are conductive to edge alignment, and the blades aren't curved enough like sabers to mitigate this
Combination of rubber grip and smooth flared pommel is sure to nicely stimulate your ass. Quillons will make a good handles, enabling vigorous pumping.
Anyway, I'll talk you through this. Honshu Boshin is a budget brand manufactured in China on behalf of Uniter Cutlery, an American company that more or less makes cringe tier swords and ninja stars and shit. Normally, you do not want any of their stuff but there are a few exceptions to the rule... And one of those is the Honshu Boshin brand, which is meant as a very cheap sword for the beginner market. These swords tend to be made from 1060 high carbon steel. Their fighting knife selection gets into stainless steel, which is fine for blades under 18" but you don't really want it.
1060 high carbon steel is mass manufactured homogenized steel for industrial applications and is most often absolutely fine. This sword is nothing fancy and not good, but it isn't dangerous like these homosexuals are saying. I bought a Honshu Boshin Wakizashi specifically to see how bad it is and honestly, for what it is, there isn't much to complain about. The blade runs thick, it is heavy, it is a pain in the ass to get a good edge on it, the pommel is welded onto the tang and will probably be the first thing to break on it as the welds aren't great. It cuts bottles. It will kill a person. Where they save money is by having very minimal features. It is, as previously stated, a ground bar of 1060 high carbon steel like 99% of budget beater swords like Cold Steel, which is also made in China, and shit like that.
I would not buy their two handed "broad sword" because it is dumb and if you're going to get into longswords for cutting there are much better options out there, like Albion. However, if you are just getting into cutting as a hobby, something like a Honshu Boshin wakizashi is a good choice because it is cheap, has a thick blade and you can learn how to sharpen the blade without the anxiety of ruining something that costs serious money.
Tl;Dr it is a beater sword made from 1060 high carbon. It doesn't have any features that make it stand out. Beginner blade.
When you're looking at cheap shit like that you want either high carbon or spring steel. Stainless steel is fine if the blade is 18" or under. Do not buy a sword if they cannot tell you what the sword is made of. Buy from reputable dealers like Kult of Athena or Warriors and Wonders.
Bro there is nothing to be talked out of. If you've got the disposable income for it, then go for it. Do what makes you happy brah. Buy a few watermelons to slice. Live your best life
What's the plan with having this particular sword Anon? Does it have true meaning to be in your arsenal? Or are you just buying it for fun? Or, hopefully not, just buying it because you are captivated by the new low price and don't want to miss out? Don't worry you won't as there is always something else and probably better out there.
When looking to buy ask yourself is the weapon good for your needs?
Home self defense?
Short term SHTF weapon to survive initial onslaught?
Long term SHTF based on Survival?
If you are going to one day potentially need to use it how will you carry it? Honestly it will hinder your movement, but that's just my opinion.
I wouldn't buy it. I would buy a Gladius or a really good Machete instead.
Why would I talk you out of a great decision?
You should get the gunblade model. It's easier than dual wielding longsword + handgun.
Do it, but get a sword that’s less shit
Albion or bust
This. The sword in OP looks like a fricking wallhanger, and calling it a "broadsword" is a red flag

One reason I got a honshu boshin wakizashi for cutting was because it is more or the same profile as a langes messer.
Langes messer were like the Glock 19 of the medieval world. They're fine weapons and fun in HEMA. I am a messergay.
