Objectively it's the King's Sword of Haste (bastard sword or at least one handed) paired with an Awesome Shield of the Stars (Stormshield if you can't get one). Only real competition is the King's Sword of Vampire's if you're high leveled enough or running a Gold Ring of Perfection or two so you can hit a high enough % of the time to offset the slower swing. And then you still need to be very good at telekilling, combat casting, solid firewall and lightening wall placement for controlling the AI/AOE, and have enough gear to level you Golem up. That or if you just load up on cursed gear "of darkness" and the Viel of Steel, then cast infravision scrolls to avoid fighting more than a few enemies at a time.
King's Sword of Blood can't compete with Vampires because mana lets you cast healing for more HP gain, King's Sword of Carnage still can't one shot any enemies so Civerb's Cudgle is better.
King's Sword of the Crusaders might be better if a bug didn't stop it from dropping.
Now if we talk Diablo II most people will say "Breath of the Dying," or maybe "Death."
Not so. This is the best common enough weapon, but it's actually possible to spawn a rare with grandmaster's and cruel (500% ED), 60% + speed, 8% dual leech, ethereal with self repair, + 2 to all skills, + 3 to combat skills, + to all resists, 10% chance for amplify damage on hot, and, the kicker, fool's and grinding which give +125 max damage BEFORE % mods, more than doubling the base damage on a collosus sword, absolutely BTFOing even BOTD. You can also get Hawkeye for +99% to attack rating (yeah, %) or get both celestial and divine for a further 300% ED vs undead and demons on the same weapon.
You can't get all of these on one but you can stack like 10. Played a lot of D2 and only found one, but it's nice to ID your ethereal thunder maul and see +493% damage pop up alongside other huge mods. And to think most people ignored yellows.

Is such a thing even possible while making it a usable sword? With steel it seems impossible, as its ~0.2833lbs per cubic inch.
