flying a not stealth ground attack aircraft into hot airspace with no air superiority is the dumbest thing a military could ever do (that's what they're doing lmao)
>Is this plane just exceptionally shitty?
Yes but one should not forget that everything coming out of Russia (I said Russia, not the Soviet Union) is obligatory a steaming pile of dogshit
Bad use and Insufficient maintenance probably. According to the polish, the soviet-russian jets are expensive like printers, cheap to buy but a financial black hole to operate.
let me explain to you the absolute level of stupidity the russians are displaying
>the soviet union knew the west had more planes than them >they developed a strategy based on AA defense in order to defeat western air forces via attrition >Ukraine inherited this strategy alongside a ton of AA weaponry >russia in a display of utter brilliance attempted to employ against Ukraine the same strategy they develop a counter for
its like losing a poker game against an opponent whose cards you already know before hand
It's a big fat slow fricking fighter-bomber that's a huge broadside of a target for AA. Losses could probably be mititaged by not flying them straight into air defense nets or apartment buildings, but you know, Russian competence is only so limited.
I do think it's one of the more aestheic jets the Russians have, and it's a shame they're not in the hands of a more capable nation.
the main problem is a combination of 3 things corruption, poor maintenance and basicly no flying hours.
so pilots are flying a plane that's missing atleast half of the important shit missing hasn't had a check over in atleast 5 years and they barely know what the things that are left over do.
Which is why the Ukraine should get A10 before USA scraps them, let Ukraine lose 10% of a10s per month. Atleast they will drop enough bombs to clear lines, and if they only fly them in fully suppressed airspace they will have fewer losses, plus the A10 has more durability to rtb Vs manpads tier threats.
Is A10 a f35? No, but it can drop enough bombs to make major difference to this conflict.
Not Russian seethe, that's different. Redditors hate the A10 because they manged to figure out (a youtuber told them) its not that great and endlessly spout off on how shit it's supposedly always been. These are the same people who'd have you believe AKs are unreliable junk that'll jam if you look at it funny and the F35 program had absolutely no problems
It's a compounding issue of poor pilot training and not enough flight hours, poor mission planning and largely using the aircraft to haul 1950s dumb bombs instead of the "magical" smart weapons it was meant to carry.
Add in the fact that these jets are used far more now than ever before and possibly poor maintenance and shit starts to fall apart.
gods punishment for taking such a beautiful lineage and turning it into something so fricking ugly. the su-34 (nato callsign PROLAPSE) needs to be purged.
>Is this plane just exceptionally shitty?
It is if you're restricted to dropping dumb bombs over; unsurpressed airspace with an agressive air defense network built from the ground up to destroy your aircraft in a nuclear war, flying on the deck so you're within manpad range of a country whose entire population has an app to call out your approach, without maintenance on the bird in question, and with a complete lack of sufficient training or actual time flying.
We're seeing what a country without a sufficient supply of PGMs looks like in a nonpeer environment (Ukraine honestly has better equipment now). It's not a good look. Going to be VERY interesting seeing if the NGSW changes infantry combat in the same way PGMs did for air and artillery.
Russians never bothered developing and producing stand-off PGM's in sufficient numbers. Combine that with flying against an enemy that doesn't have the AA-capabilities of Syrian rebel group. This recipe leads to downed aircraft.
Remember Russian doctrine for ground attack aircraft (helicopters even) is actually called "air artillery". It's all about dropping bombs and shooting rockets. There's very little precision or accuracy involved in their doctrine.
>Is this plane just exceptionally shitty?
In part it's due to the fact Russia's whole air force is shit and they resort to dropping ww2 style iron bombs at low level over Ukraine
It looks cool
jets are obsolete
just the r*ssian ones

Any plane is shitty if you don't give it proper maintenance. They make for rather spectacular cruise missiles, though.
Bad use and Insufficient maintenance probably. According to the polish, the soviet-russian jets are expensive like printers, cheap to buy but a financial black hole to operate.
That’s pretty good
amazing webm
>So, Russia has lost about 10% of its SU-34 fleet.
That we know of.
Yeah, they probably lost much more if we take corruption and shitty maintenance into account.
>aircraft get lost in wars that aren’t against flip flop wearing goat herders
Yeah

It's basically an age old design that drops freefall bombs.

>"oh yeah, lets lose our pilots every month after we spend thousand of dollars training them, that will teach the the russians"
Ukraine doesn't want the a10
homosexuals
It would be funny though, imagine the Reddit seethe when A10s rape Russian formations
how is russia reddit? its literally the opposite

No accounting for taste I guess.

It's usable enough in the right hands. Problem is that Russian hands are with a thumb in the middle and somehow someone pilfered the 9th finger.

It's a fine platformed as designed, but Russia cannot into air superiority and consequently they get shredded.
This.
You could give vatniks F-22s and they'd find a way to lose them all.

It's an awesome airframe. That's it.

Are American planes just exceptionally shitty?
