Can I use OxiClean on my chest rig? I have been running around in it alot and its starting to get a little funky. If so, do I just lightly spray it down and rub it with a clean rag before rinsing with cold water and hanging it up to dry?

Honestly the only thing I can describe it as is rain water.

That. The whole rig just smells like rain water. I want it to smell either like nothing at all or somewhat fresh.

SportWash (on Amazon). Remove plates, wash on cold on the gentle cycle. You may want to let the washer agitate for a minute, then pause it or open the lid to let it soak for about 20-30 minutes, then resume. Hang dry.

OxyClean if that doesn't work. The only reason I'm gonna say not to do it up front is most washers do a piss poor job of rinsing out oxyclean. As soon as sweat makes contact with the carrier, then your skin, it's gonna itch like a b***h.

and as a bonus, you can wash certain kinds of baseball caps this way, too. flexfit (every major sport brand offers at least one FlexFit brand hat) use plastic in the bill instead of cardboard...seems a lot of people don't know this. Wash your hats.

I have some kydex inserts on the mag placard, I assume I should also remove those before tossing it in the washer?

If it's contained within the pouch and won't come out, I'd leave them in.

They are just held in with velcro so I guess I'll remove them just to be safe. This is the sportwash I decided to go with (even though they are all probably the same)

That's the right one. The bigger bottle just looks plain-er. I have to warn you tho if the label gets wet it WILL bleed orange. Keep it away from clothing. The detergent itself will also cause it to bleed. It's a stupid label. Great detergent.

In that case I'll just dump it in another container. Label can't bleed of there is no label.

soak it in the powdered dollar store oxyclean and bottles of peroxide to kill the stank and bacteria, the rinse and wash with persil laundry detergent and either the lysol or clorox non bleach laundry sanitizer. none of these things will harm nylon, but they will clean and sanitize your shit so you dont smell like fricking swamp ass.

get a 5 gallon plastic bucket and agitate by hand. its not going to kill you.

Try Arrest My Vest. Just sprayed a bunch on/in a plate carrier that got stored with outgassing polyurea-coated plates, got the horrible chemical smell out in less than an hour. Expensive at $30 for 2 16-oz bottles, but I'll be damned if it works. Body armor safe, non-toxic too.

I generally just rinse my stuff in warm water and dawn but would be interested in what others have to say. Baking soda can help too.

Vinegar is the best cleaning product IMO. Cheap, non-bleaching, doesn't affect colors either, kills most odor-causing bacteria, kills mold (doesn't evap and leave a bunch of water for mold to regrow with like Bleach), leaves a neutral smell on clothes when washed properly.

Should work fine, that is what it is for after all.
